  1. You absolutely did! We had headed over there to do some trash cleanup.

Thank you! I'm glad they got it all fixed up. We usually have a replacement part or two in camp thankfully.

Glad you had a buddy with an extra part!  I believe we saw you and another fellow dinner doing some cleanup’s over by South Pole Saturday. I remember seeing that awesome X.3 with the windshield and purple accents. Thanks for doing the cleanups. I used to do the same thing for hours at a time using a dirtbike, those flat areas sure collect the trash!

  2. Pretty good weekend in the sand this weekend.

Arrived early Thursday morning. Relaxed while we waited for a couple more to arrive. It was toasty out there this weekend!

Went on a good cruise. Still learning the dune shifts since I didn't ride on Halloween weekend.

While we were waiting for the shadows to be right for a good ride, I decided to grab a trash bag and a couple of us headed out to do a little clean up. BLM had been out there to do a clean up day and did a really good job. I still managed to collect a black garbage bag full.

We then met everyone at our version of sunset hill, to reflect on a great day in the dunes.

Friday brought a good fast morning ride. Then it was back to camp for some homework time. I'll be super glad when I don't have to spend visiting down dune time doing homework. I needed a homework break, so we headed out to vendor row for lunch and I needed an American flag for Saturdays Veterans cruise.

After eating, it was sunset run time. Everything was great until I made a bad decision to cut the line and avoid a transition. Knowing where we were, it should have been an easy smooth cut, except there was now a huge shelfy witches eye there now. And I stuffed the X3 right into it. Not just tacoing the A-arm, but also in a precarious deep ditch situation,  pretty much a V shape. While the guys were trying to figure out how to get it out, I sat on the hill feeling pretty stupid. A group of people sitting a dune over had just passed us and decided to turn around and help out. Thankfully one had a winch! I can't thank them enough for turning around and helping us out!

Once we got it out, We limped it back to camp. One of the guys in camp had an extra A-arm and let me borrow it for the rest of the weekend. Thank you!

It was pizza night in camp, one of the gals in camp makes the best homemade pizza! Delicious! So the guys talked about revisiting the idea of fixing it in the morning. Thank you again for pizza night. We're going to have to start switching dinner nights and Saturday morning breakfasts to join in the duties.

Up early the next morning and when I opened the kitchen shade, one of our camp already had it jacked up and checking in out. They all dove right in and got to work. They finished it up just in time to roll over to the Veterans cruise.

The cruise had a great turn out!

After the cruise, it was back to camp to complete my homework, it was a midterm assignment so needed extra time to complete.

Another sunset run, this one without any mishaps.

We kind of did a cook your dinner and bring it to share night. Not a planned potluck.

I was pretty sore this morning though from that hit on Friday evening, so I relaxed in the motorhome and tried not to move my neck too much. I see a message in my near future.

Good weekend, with lots to be grateful and thankful for. 20211111_162542.thumb.jpg.8fb18b271c2a8e4e44c97d58a6f203f8.jpg20211111_162749.thumb.jpg.a71b3e91382f72775c8da6089754313b.jpg20211112_062349.thumb.jpg.496ae6ba004103b9128db4143f5a15dd.jpg384426611_20211112_0620442.thumb.jpg.5412a3921a07f2c11d0bac1c3f4eb535.jpg388621511_20211111_1706462.thumb.jpg.ec60e453ad0ee1828608e9442873731f.jpg20211112_070506.thumb.jpg.302f76cb90adec71fc14d133002dc9ad.jpg20211112_133838.thumb.jpg.80910ed96fb038aedaf0b6146debcbd8.jpg

  3. As secretary of Friends of Dumont Dunes, I propose a little mini clean up competition!

Many of us do this anyway:

𝙒𝙝𝙚𝙣𝙚𝙫𝙚𝙧 𝙮𝙤𝙪 𝙖𝙧𝙚 𝙤𝙪𝙩 𝙩𝙝𝙚𝙧𝙚, 𝙩𝙖𝙠𝙚 𝙖 𝙡𝙞𝙩𝙩𝙡𝙚 𝙩𝙞𝙢𝙚, 𝙫𝙞𝙙𝙚𝙤 𝙤𝙧 𝙩𝙖𝙠𝙚 𝙥𝙝𝙤𝙩𝙤𝙨 𝙤𝙛 𝙮𝙤𝙪 𝙖𝙣𝙙/𝙤𝙧 𝙮𝙤𝙪𝙧 𝙜𝙧𝙤𝙪𝙥 𝙙𝙤𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙖 𝙢𝙞𝙣𝙞 𝙘𝙡𝙚𝙖𝙣 𝙪𝙥! 𝙋𝙤𝙨𝙩 𝙮𝙤𝙪𝙧 𝙫𝙞𝙙𝙚𝙤 𝙖𝙣𝙙/𝙤𝙧 𝙥𝙞𝙘𝙩𝙪𝙧𝙚𝙨 𝙝𝙚𝙧𝙚:

And on The Friends of Dumont Dunes Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/groups/friendsofdumontdunes/?ref=share

Use the hashtag  #packitinpackitout or #packoutmorethanyoupackin in your post.

I will keep track of these posts and the person/group who has the most mini clean up posts by the Annual Clean Up event in March, will receive a special prize and recognition for their dune clean up efforts!

I don't know what the prize will be yet, but I'll come up with something great!

Let's be the change that we want to see in others!

Let's set the example for all to see!

  4. On Saturday, November 13, 2021 Veterans Day weekend there is going to be a slow cruise ride from Vendors Row to Veterans Hill where we will have a small ceremony to honor those who served our country.

Meet @9:45 AM west end of Vendor Row, we will leave for the cruise, kids encouraged as well, @10:00 AM. The cruise will be led by Sean Stewart

You are encouraged to wear red, white and blue and fly those American flags 🇺🇸

Once we arrive at Veterans Hill, we will have a  brief moment of silence to honor our Veterans. Followed by some patriotic music and conversations.

I have ordered a bunch of small flags to hand out to the kiddos.

I just felt we needed to do something at Dumont to honor our Veterans.FB_IMG_1507040854655.thumb.jpg.3578d34bca68baae52afdf38d0abe9ad.jpg

Awesome turnout! Looks like you all did a great job. It's good to see how many people still care about Dumont. Thank you guys and thanks for posting this up Jodi. I wish I didn't have to miss it but work and other commitments didn't allow for it this year.

Pete you definitely missed a great one. The turn out was incredible. I'm still speechless at the turn out. We're already making big plans for next year. As the newly elected secretary of FoDD, I'm looking forward to seeing what the future holds for the organization.

  6. WOW!

I am speechless at the turn out we had for the clean up this year!

We rolled in Thursday night so we could spend Friday duning, as we knew the clean up event would take most of the day Saturday. We spent a short time visiting around the campfire before going to bed.

Up early Friday morning, but had to wait for the second ride of the day as I had homework to finish. But got in the mid morning run. It was a good one! Fast and nice lines. The black cloud started rolling in close and we made it back to camp just in time for the rain to start. So we played some dominos in the motorhome and waited it out.

The sky cleared up and the rain stopped just in time for the sunset run. Which was another great one. Sand was wet on top, but dry underneath. We watched the sun fade in the sky and headed back to camp for dinner and campfire stories.

Jason rolled in and we had shots in the motorhome to celebrate the start of the Clean Up Weekend. We mapped out a game plan for the event and headed to get a good nights sleep.

Saturday morning we got busy getting ready. The Pink Box Doughnuts arrived and the coffee was flowing at the event area. I ran over to the BLM area to see if they needed any help to get the ball rolling. Jumped in and started handing out garbage bags to get the line moving along.

The amount of people who turned out for the event was incredible! It was like it used to be back in the early 2000's. Maybe even more! It was exciting to see how many people showed up and cleaned up! Thank you all, each one of you. You cared, you showed up and you filled one large dumpster to overflowing.

It was time to head over to the clean up weekend event site near bathroom #4. The delicious food was almost ready to be served. @JeepingJay36 worked his butt off on the preparing another great BBQ lunch this year! Thank you for everything you do for this event!

Just before we got started on the raffle, the board of Friends of Dumont Dunes had an official meeting and I was voted in as the newest board member filling in the role of secretary. I can't wait to see what the future holds.

The quick draw and raffle prizes were off the chain! Even a full set of Toyo tires donated by the event sponser Dirt 2 Dunes Powersports. So many vendors, shops, businesses and individuals donated some amazing items! It took a while but we finally got through them all!

We broke from picking up after the event in just enough time for a sunset cruise. We enjoyed the empty dunes as everyone else was busy watching the drags.

Got in one last ride this morning before packing up and heading home.

    201 days til October!

    See you then Dumont!

    See you then!

  8. I'll be out helping with whatever is needed. I'm also the point of contact for anyone wanting to donate prizes from Las Vegas, that can't make it to the clean up event. I'll be available the next few weeks to meet up and collect donations. If you need me to get your donation picked up shoot me a DM!

I'm also personally donating some "kid friendly" prizes. The kiddos always get overlooked when it comes to the prize fun, but they're always so eager to help out!

  9. With all the newbies seen at halloween this year, it's time again to bump this post from cobweb land...

Don't jump in someone's line passing them like your in an off road race... If you want to race and pass people, build your rig for that and take it to the track... Saying this for the a-hole in a white RZR pro 🖕who literally did that to our line... Thankfully we have radios and we were warning each other as he blindly came up on our right side passing and cutting us all off inches away. If I would have drifted right at all it would have been over... Take a different line, there's plenty out there!

  10. I think it was more packed then in the boom of 2005-2007 when everyone bought sandcars on credit before the 08 crash. Looked like everyone used their stimulus checks for down payments on a SxS. It was off the hook. Hoping for a good quiet Veterans weekend. 🤞 Had one dude in a RZR pro literally weaving around the cars in our entire line, if I would have drifted up inches, it would have been over.
