  1. We are talking about leaving town late in the day on Christmas and staying till Sunday. Should be a quiet weekend and we should be able to get in some good dune time. Anybody elase going then?

    We will be arriving Dec 20th and staying through New Years. We always do Xmas there, bring the tree and all. The best time is the week before Xmas, no one there.

  2. I estimate that the total crowd was down as much as half to last year. The group at comp on Sat night was as large as I have seen it and they were wilder in our area. With the new hoops at the top and left of Comp I agree carefull if running the hill. Banshie was packed Saturday and there was some filming of some kind with some desert trucks. I didn't like the idea that They would climb about half way up the hill and go down full throttle and jump the burm at the bottom on Friday afternoon. Too many people in the area. Some jumps were in excess of 50-75 feet long right into the left side of the parking and looky looing area. :whistle::grin:

    I believe that was Friday during the day. I was there and comp was pretty full. All of a sudden 2 offroad trucks (one Black and one Red with I believe the number 97 on the black one) came barrelin down comp and jumped the burm at the bottom. They continued to do this going through a very small area that was opened up to let them through without hitting the crowd. They must of had permission because the Sheriff was there. There was a guy filming their jumps. The black truck literaly came within inches of the camera guy as he took pictures. He would come directly at the camera man and then turn throwing up dust everywhere just missing him everytime. I've seen those trucks on TV before. They were also out Saturday but went behind comp somewhere.

    We sat way in the back of Comp Hill on Friday night until about 10pm. It looked like there was a lot of people there. Saw the Sheriff give about 4 tickets from 7-10pm. Didn't see a lot of racing however, just partying.

    One of the reasons we sit way to the back of comp is just because someone always will pull infront of you and you can't watch anything or someone just blairs their music so loud you can't hear. We usually sit on top of the burm (small hill) over to the left or almost all the way back across the flats just to watch the action but get away from some of the younger groud that doesn't care if they get in your way or not.

  3. comp hill seemed to have a lot less trash than last year :grin: when I went out on sat. morning (7 a.m.) and on sun. morning same time there was very little I was surprised :whistle::grin:

    There was less trash this year than last, but there was still enough to piss me off. On Saturday morning about 6:00am me and another person were picking up all the beer cans, bottles and other stuff. Filled 3 50 gal. trash containers. Still, cleaner than other years.

  4. My family and I were at Dumont the entire week prior to Vets day, just after Halloween. We stay in the wash but decided to go on top and look for wood. We found about a weeks worth of wood but the worst part, there was trash everywhere. We filled 6 50 gal bags within about an hour just from the camping area. There was even a BBQ (the big kind we have at home left there). We also picked up 8 bags that were full but people left in the open. I went back to the wash, unhitched my dually, went back up and filled the back with bags, along with the BBQ and took it into Baker. Just going down the dirt road, we found 2 more bags that had flown out of someone's vehicle. I looked like the junk man hauling bags in the back of my dually. I tied everything down so it would not fly out. Yes, people, we need to haul out our trash but make sure it just doesn't blow out the back.

    By the way, that week was awesome. Tues it blew like crazy, but by the evening, the dunes were smooth as a baby's bottom. There were only 6 other campers until Friday making the dunes fantastic. Most of the tracks for 3 days were our own.

  5. I want to see the Iraq war ended as do 72% of all americans.

    McCain ignors that and it's why he'll get beat.

    Screw the Iraqis, they can go to hell.

    If Obama succeeds with his agenda, all we will have is another socialist monarchy, socialized medicine, gun control, high taxes, lower incomes, new carbon taxes, nurtured mediocrity, and increased pacifism.

    Going to the doctor shouldn't be like going to the DMV or getting an all day long oil change at a Chevy dealer.

    This email comes in three parts: Please read them all...

    Part 1

    In just two years. Remember the election in 2006?

    Thought you might like to read the following:

    A little over two years ago:

    1) Consumer confidence stood at a 2 1/2 year high;

    2) Regular gasoline sold for $2.19 a gallon;

    3) The unemployment rate was 4.5%.

    Since voting in a Democratic Congress in 2006 we have seen:

    1) Consumer confidence plummet;

    2) The cost of regular gasoline soar to over $4.00 a gallon;

    3) Unemployment is up to 5% (a 10% increase);

    4) American households have seen $2.3 trillion in equity value evaporate (stock and mutual fund losses);

    5) Americans have seen their home equity drop by $1.2 trillion dollars;

    6) 1% of American homes are in foreclosure.

    America voted for change in 2006, and we got it!

    Remember it's Congress that makes law not the President. He has to work with what's handed to him.

    Taxes...Whether Democrat or a Republican you will find these statistics enlightening and amazing.

    www.taxfoundation.org/publications/show/151.html

    Taxes under Clinton 1999 Taxes under Bush 2008

    Single making 30K - tax $8,400 Single making 30K - tax $4,500

    Single making 50K - tax $14,000 Single making 50K - tax $12,500

    Single making 75K - tax $23,250 Single making 75K - tax $18,750

    Married making 60K - tax $16,800 Married making 60K- tax $9,00 0

    Married making 75K - tax $21,000 Married making 75K - tax $18,750

    Ma rried making 125K - tax $38,750 Married making 125K - tax $31,250

    Both democratic candidates will return to the higher tax rates

    It is amazing how many people that fall into the categories above think Bush is screwing them and Bill Clinton was the greatest President ever. If Obama is elected, he says he will repeal the Bush tax cuts and a good portion of the people that fall into the categories above can't wait for it to happen. This is like the movie 'The Sting' with Paul Newman; you scam somebody out of some money and they don't even know what happened.

    You think the war in Iraq is costing us too much?

    Read this:

    Boy am I confused. I have been hammered with the propaganda that it is the Iraq war and the war on terror that is bankrupting us.

    I now find that to be RIDICULOUS.

    I hope the following 14 reasons are forwarded over and over again

    until they are read so many times that the reader gets sick of reading them. I have included the URL's for verification of all the following facts.

If, on the other hand, if it does raise the hair on the back of your neck, I hope you forward it to every legal resident in the country including every representative in Washington, D.C. - five times a week for as long as it takes to restore some semblance of intelligence in our policies and enforcement thereof.

  6. Locked with cable and Kryptonyte New York Chain.

    Then blocked in with tow vech as good as possible.

    Always lites on, RV blinds/curtains open.

    The people I go with are all cops. So we have about 6 toyhaulers and around 10 cops at anyone time. Yes, we all are packing. What I have done is lock my rail, quads with the Kryptonyte 30' cable to my axles of my hauler. I have another small 120 decibel cable that they would have to cut. It is increadibly loud. I leave my yellow porch light on, keep my windows open and oh yeah, leave both my rots chained up near the toys. Even when it is daylight, no one seems to want to come into our camp when they see the dogs. Never had any problems.

  7. My brother-n-law is a key grip for the movie industry in Las Vegas. I knew he had been a part of many movies and commercials at dumont. I asked what movies he knew of being done there. Here is a list that he knew of plus he says he does tons of commercials all the time for cars, off-rode vehicles, etc:

    Sleeper Cell (2005 TV series)

    Fantastic 4 - Rise of the Silver Surfer

    Aurora - 1998

    Bleak Future - 1997

    Burial Society - 2002

    The Core - 2003

    Drifter - 2007

    Hildago - 2004

    Hulk - 2003

    I Robot - 2004

    Land of the Lost

    Line in the Sand

    Mystery of the Nile - 2005

    Sands of Oblivion - 2007

    The Siege - 1998

    Soldier of God - 2005

  8. We were there from Sunday through Sunday. It was pretty windy Sunday and Monday - made for some great sand rides. Tues through Thur were great because there were hardly anyone there. Dunes got a little chopped up after that.

    We were camped in the wash and the 2 jets came through and canyon and flew what seemed to be 100 feet above our heads. They waived with their wings, did some roll overs and then went balistic, almost straight up. That was great. The last time we were in the wash, we had to A-10's do the same thing.

    On Friday, about 5:00 pm we were just lighting our BBQ and heard some quads going over the old railroad tracks at the back of the wash. We were camped at the very end of the wash. A girl of about 15 years old went sliding down the side and hit the cement where the hole for water comes out. She went sailing about 20 feet, came down on her head and then was just laying there. I got in my buggy to get help and we were lucky. Coming up the wash was a BLM truck. They put a neck brace on her, put her on a curny, called in the helicopter. Don't know what happened to the girl. Her Honda 250ex was pretty messed up. We had a Rhino with a winch and got it out for her. Some friends later came and hauled it out of there.

    Later that night, about 9:00pm, went to comp and watched some great drags up the hill. There were about 4 rails doing wheelies straight up the hill.

    Great week. I had so much fun I'm going again this weekend.

  9. Just seeing if anyone is going up this weekend. We will be there from thursday to sunday. If you want to do some duning and racing, look us up.

    Its suppose to cool down some starting thursday.

    We'll be there from Thur thru Sun

  10. I NEED HELP GEETING THE BEST EXHAUST FOR MY HONDA TRX 300 EX :(

    When we had our 250ex and 2 400ex's we put the full Big Gun Exhaust and headers on. They really improved the bottom and middle end for all the quads. We had them from 1999 through 2006 and never had a problem with them.

  11. I stopped at Valero Wed night before T-Day, wanted season pass, they didn't have them, bought weekend pass just in case to have one in hand. Went to the BLM trailer Sunday morning, they applied that $40 towards season pass no hassle at all. Give BLM a chance before you get worked up about fees. Seems they haven't done us wrong yet have they? Well OK there is the entrance road thing, the lack of enforcement by LEO's, this could go on and on. Anyway, they seem to be doing the right thing on the fees, but get it resolved quickly, don't wait untill new years to try and recoup your money. :laughing:

    I got there the Monday before and went to Valero as well. The guy said he couldn't sell me a pass because it would expire the next day. He said to go to Dog House vendor and he'd have them. I did that and boy was he mad. He said the BLM promised to give him passes but that never happened. He said he got $1 per pass loosing a lot of money. I went to the BLM on Friday afternoon and gave the lady 2 passes I had bought previously. She didn't even look at them, gave me credit for both, and I got my season pass with no problems. I guess the vendors will not be selling them.

  12. My family will be there. We're leaving this Monday and will stay until the following Monday. I met a few the opening day, hope to meet more this time. See you on Saturday. But this time, I won't be carrying a beer like I did last time the Ranger stopped me.

  13. i agree its an easy fix it requires a loader and an operator and about 2 days .create a sand dune across the front of that easy access route. so pick ups cant get through. the biggest part of the problem would be eliminated. when you stop the pickup trucks full of people that dont even have sand toys. :thumb: the biggest a$$ hats i see come with, and in, those .not all, it wont stop it, but it will slow it way down ...................................

    I agree with Bob. The hill used to be for racing and watching the races up the hill. Now everyone brings their trucks and Rhinos and gets crazy. If we closed that area up by putting a dune across, maybe the original intent of comp hill would come back again. Love your idea Bob.

  14. Reading this makes me sick. It brings back some memories of last year when I was at Gordons Well. We were all coming back from a ride on our quads (all 10 of us) and out of no where a buggy hit one of our guys. The buggy was going approx. 50 mph and came right through our line. To make a long story short, my friend has no feelings from his chest down and never will. 3 weeks later we were all duning again and a rail came flying off a ridge and landed on my friend. Luckily, he wasn't hurt too bad but his quad was totalled. A few assh??es make it bad for a lot of us. I also have a rail. I am very carefull with it. I don't do wheelies with it up comp when friends ask me to, and most of the time I watch at the bottom due to so many jerks doing what they shouldn't be doing. When friends ask if they can drive it, the answer is NO. It is too powerful, you don't know how to drive it, and I don't want to be responsible for them hurting someone or even my rail. Like barefoot Bob said, I am on my second season with this first time rail and I know not to do certain things since I am still in the learning phase of driving this powerfull car.

    What I really like to see sometimes on the dunes is when people are jumping, they have spotters all over and let you know not to ride in that area. I would never think about going straight up a hill and flying over a ridgeback without knowing what is on the other side, but some do. Look at the pictures of the rail that was broken a few weeks ago at Glamis. He went flying off a ridgeback and his rail is totalled. What if someone was on the other side?

    I don't care how experienced that guy that hit the quad was, he was doing something that he shouldn't have and look what happened. Like everyone has said, most of us can wheelie, big deal. Any time someone is wheeling across a hill, something can happen. It's not worth it. Yes, this sport can be dangerous, any sport can, but most of us use our brains and don't do these things, some don't use their brains, have to show off, and this is what will happen.

    My heart goes out to him and I hope he gets better soon. I hope they nail the guy who did it. Unfortunately for my friend, he will be in a wheel chair the rest of his life due to some idiot showing off and nothing can repay that.

  15. I love this rig. I am in the process of shopping for one because its one of the few that will haul all of my toys. I have a Rhino and 5 quads.

    What I would like to know is where can I get the best deal. I would like to buy outside of Nevada if possible because I have a Ranch in Oregon and will title and register it up there. You buy in Nevada, you pay Nevada sales tax. Period.

    Anybody have any hookups with dealers that sell the Raptor 3924SS where I can get a good deal?

    Thanks a ton and :freakin_nuts:

    I am not from Nevada but I thought you didn't pay sales tax there. Am I wrong. My wife and I are thinking of moving from Arizona when I retire shortly to Nevada because we heard there wasn't a sales tax. Since most of you are from NV, can you clarify that for me. Maybe it was just income tax you don't pay. Thanks.

    By the way, I have found some great deals in Calif. Most of the places will bring it to the border of where you live for a small fee. They bring a notary to sign all the docs and you're done. You just take it to your state dmv to register it and pay your state tax.

    Also, make sure to measure your toyhauler to make sure you can get a Rhino and 5 quads in it. I have a 39' Gearbox and the most I can get in it is my 16' rail and a quad (and the quad goes in the kitchen area). I can't take my Rhino. My Rhino takes up 9 feet, plus each quad takes up about 4 feet going in sideways, unless you stand them up some how. I don't know if the Raptor has inside wheel wells or not. If so, this could take away from the room needed to put your toys in. Also consider how many U-bolts they give and where they are at in the hauler. You might find you have room for a toy and no where to tie it down.
