  5. I hope he didn't forget to put his Goody comb in the back of his acid washed jean pocket so he could keep that mullet lookin bitchin' dude. :laughoff:

i have a feeling high octaine junkie personaly knows this guy....:whistle:

  6. I just replace the fuel filter on my Duramax today which is no big deal. I do it every 5,000 miles.

But at $30.00 a filter thats a bit steep for a filter. Yeah I know its cheap insurance against engine damage but I was curious where everyone buys their filters and other parts.

Maybe we can start a thread for good finds on things like this to help a fellow duner out for maintenance items for us do-it-yourselfer's...

i buy my filters at cummins 4-5$ for fuel, but when you use an account name that buys hundres of thousands of dollars of filters a year , then they give you a good price...no im not telling the account....but filters for my truck are not that expensive anyway...

  7. what do you think when you see this photo? also, i'd think that it would be interesting if we had a couple first person stories or perhaps a biography or two about this person, based on the photo given.

    _cid_678.jpg

if i saw him somewhere i would wounder where his mini truck is parked.. :6pak:

  8. Good job Bob. Very well put and thought out. :beat: I love American history.

My Great Great Grandfather played the bugle for the north. Got shot by the grey in Virginia. Grandma still has his uniform and bugle, blood stains and all. Maybe your family shot him  Pretty cool stuff.

I think we're all a little smarter now and hopefully Whiz has a better understanding of how the confederate flag made it to Dumont.

lets get sum more mullet pics :broke::slap: out there.....

  9. GM has the audacity to charge over 50 for the ?Dmax fuel filter

i think ford is so high because they have 2 fuel filters ??? :DDRrocks:

glad i have a cummins...5 $ fleetguard filter and i change every other oil change, fuel quality is bad, and it is bad if you run bio-diesel

  10. my father in law has been diesel mechanic/engineer for a long time and he always suggested to change the filter every 10,000 miles. I buy my filters on the internet and change them for about 40 bucks.

40 bones for a fuel filter? thats a lot of money :DDRrocks:

  11. thanks for the info...they have the boost gauge going on the hose between the turbo and the wastegate, which is different that what others have told me... im looking into that too, as i am afraid tapping into that hose would give innacurate readings?

dont know anything about that, but they seem to give good safe advice...but cant hurt to do some reasearch...a turbo is an expensive item...... :blah::slap:

  12. Even though I am a mechanic, I still had the guys at Custom Shop do mine. (didn't feel like messing with it) But here are some pics of where they tapped for the gauges. You can do them yourself as long as you have the right tools and know how to tap/ thread a hole pretty well w/o effing it up.

You don't want to tap the intercooler for the sender. You want to install it somewhere in the intake manifold. Yours might look slightly different since you have an LB7 and mine is an LLY, but you get the picture.

These are the clips I believe you are talking about. There's a special tool to remove them so you don't jack em all up, but I have used a screwdriver many times on them and it worked just fine. There's a ton of them that hold the inner fender liner on (plus one large push-pin that you'll probably break).

    post-3-1208631504_thumb.jpg

Where the boost line and wires go through the firewall. (yeah I know, I need to wash my chit)

    post-3-1208631912_thumb.jpg

    My gauges...

    post-3-1208631774_thumb.jpg

just what he needs, a few pics...you should be able to do it on your own...on diesel manor they even tell you what wires to splice for power of the gauges for the lights and pyro box..good luck and take your time tapping the manifold...

  13. 03 duramax.....silverado

go to www.dieselmanor.com and they have an install section that show pics of diferant locations to put things...that should give you an idea of where to put stuff...lots of factors and options on what you can do...i did my pyrometer on the manifold or you can do it post turbo but it will not be as accurate...this web site should help you out, or call them im sure they would like to help you...nice people hopes this gives you a start

  14. my wife got me an a-pillar 2 gauge mount with a pyro and boost gauge....z series from autometer :beerpint: my wife rocks!!! bust she doesnt know that I know yet (online banking is the shizz) :beerpint:

anyway, being that i am not very mechanical, i am searching for any tips/tricks you could give me during install.

i will be using the hoot method on the pyro install, which is pretty straight forward, but i have to remove the fender liner. i was looking at it yesterday, and i think pretty much all i need is a flathead screwdriver?

also, i want to tap the intake for the boost right out of the intercooler (IC)...will that be good, or is there a better place for the boost probe so i get an accurate reading?

honestly, this ish is a little intimidating, as i am not very mechanically inclined, but much better at it since i became a duner

    thanks

    cheese

    what vehicle do you have?
  15. i have cleaned my 7 pin connector contacts, but they still arent working...what do i check for next?

if i chase the 7 pin connector back under the trailer, is it pretty easy to find the ground? im thinking that may be it

    thanks

i would say it is the ground..make sure you have a good contact, get dirty under there..

  16. the guy who is going to be riding does know how to ride but he as never riden in sand. We've already talked about it and we have always had the understanding that if he were to break something he would pay of the repair.

its not rocket science, just have to have good common sense...just ride  if it is such an isue and is bothering you, then let him bring out his own stuff :laughoff:

  17. Well i do trust the person who is going to be riding one of my quads but i just want to protect myself. I dont want to be held liable for his actions on the bike thats all. I do have insurance on my bikes. Do you guys think im being unreasonible?

if he f up then it is on him, even if it is your sh***T.....maybe a little paranoid :laughoff::laughing: i dont think you should worry about it, just have some safe fun....

  18. Going to the dunes this weekend and taking some peeps. Wanted to know if there is a release of liability form that i can get them to sign just incase one of them decides to get alil crazy. Is there one on the net i can print out and have them sign?

dont let them ride our stuff if you dont trust them, and liability would be on the state of ca if there is any liability.....
