  1. Let me guess there isn't enough pornography out there? Even though I got a chuckle out of reading this I have to say that public television is not the place for this. Unless it comes with a lock and key for adults only. Innocent kids don't need this crap floating around in thier heads. After all there's enough waiting for them when they get older.
  2. We got an early Christmas gift up here. Gonna be some killer wheelin & boarding. My drive way in Lucerne Valley A Joshua Tree by my house Base of 18 heading up to Big Bear via the desert Hwy 18 switchbacks had over 20 abandon vehicles. Here's one. And it aint gonna be 30 minutes or less! My shop uniforms aren't gonna make it. My winter vehicle on the switchbacks Looking down to Lucerne Valley The front of my shop looking at Hwy 18 Looking out the back of my shop Peace, Gino
  3. Looked like the wind hampered their spirits as to finding bigger stuff. They really only found one jump that was 1/2 way decent.
  4. We had a good trip. My buddy was trying out his new 42ft Cyclone. Man that thing is nice!. We also celebrated one of the kids birthdays. It was a tad hot for me. The older I get the more I seek friendly weather. Pulled in Wednesday night. Got stuck right off the tip of finger 2. Both of us are way heavy. I am 25k gross and he is 27k gross. So I wasn't suprised with our tires at max psi. Just couldn't tell how close we were to the soft stuff. Dropped the air and off we went. Thursday and Friday were just beautiful. Untracked dunes everywhere. Got riding in knowing that the weekend crowds were coming. Saw those two A-10's flying around too. Man those things are awesome. Saturday morning we saw the group of people up by the guy that died the night before. What a bummer. I could see tracks going up almost all the way to the top of the largest dune just south of #7 restroom. Then they made a left and you could see where it just tipped. Looked like he just lost his momentum and tried to turn down, then it rolled. Funny thing happened Sunday. On the way to the pole we came across 4 people at the bottom of a huge bowl. Thier rail had lost a tire. They had been there for a while cause there were like 40 empty beer cans laying around. They were all laying under the rail just busting up. I asked if they were ok. The were like, "Pffft ah man we [hic] are [hic] great bro!!". They told me they had help coming. Man that was funny.
  5. I lock them up under my open window where I sleep. 1/2" cable with 3/8th" lock. 2 Viciously loud dogs kenneled 2 feet away. Several catfish bells hidden on the cables. . . And last but not least.
  6. We going the wknd of the 18th Bill. Yo yo.. Peace, G.
  7. Does anyone here have the elev and azmuth settings for Direct TV from Dumont? I already have the zip. Thanks guys. G.
  8. That's cool. I made it over 1/2 way my first few attempts. I coulda kept going but the axle wrap was just getting too violent.
  9. My family and our best friends family always camp together. We have been doing G for over a decade. I recently went to Dumont for the first time with a few guys from my shop. I reported to my family how fun the place really is. We had always thought that if we wanted to dune, Glamis was the ONLY place. So for our last trip of the season we opted to take both our families to Dumont this year. Considering the temps at G, the diesel fuel prices, and that it is 2 hours closer, we headed for Dumont Wednesday after work. The wind was kicken pretty good Wed night as we pulled into the Velero on Baker Rd. Fuel, Ice, and a quick DQ treat and we were ready. We didn't want to pull in in the dark so we slept behind The Mad Greek. After breakfast at Bob's we were off to Dumont. We stayed way right by the first little finger that goes up onto a pile of rocks about 40 feet high. The weather was really wierd. It was hot for two days, then cool, then wind would come and go from what seemed like all directions depending on the hour. No tracks the entire first day. Then Friday it got a little tracked but the winds into the night cleaned em up again!. I love that. We played a ton of cards, UNO, and watched movies at night. Only able to have a fire one night cause it was just too windy for us. Got to check out the movie stuff going on. For the last few years we have had a tough time with "other campers". Not that we are anti-social. But it just seems like that no matter where we decide to camp a group of people show up near with kids that ride with no helmets, or ride right through our camp, or just want to pop wheelies all day 2 feet off my camper's back door with their dad's Bombardier 650 with no muffler? We used to say stuff but everytime the parents get really defensive and we always end up being the bad guys. So now, unless it is a real safety issue, we just let it slide. During this trip we decided that we all officially like Dumont too. We are going to make our first and last trips at Dumont for sure. And in between when we have time and enough money, hit Glamis also. It gives us two more trips a year. My youngest (6 years old) is on her 3rd season of riding her 40cc quad. I love the time I get to spend with her. I spend a lot of time training and training my kids the right and wrong way to aproach riding ATV's. I make them ride tracks that I set up in camp for the first few years as they are really young. Then I start taking them on small ride with just me. I teach them to follow right in my tracks. This way when we go on family rides they all follow suit with the leader and no one gets into trouble. The pic here of my little girl was during our ride. I took her all the way up to the right of the camping area. I was also able to take my FORD out into the dunes. With a John Woods custom 5 stage tune, my QSB WOP Turbo, and my John Woods built race tranny, 456's, 35" Toyo M/T's at 15psi, it did awesome!. I was able to go all the way to the very top of some of the big dunes between Comp hill and the North Pole. I made it 3/4 of the way up comp. But the axle wrap was just getting too bad so I had to ditch. Really makes me want a car. It's too bad that the season is over for us. I am just way too busy during the summer months. But I sure can't wait till next year. 10. Other than the small dunes by the entrance are there areas thay are quiet and ok for kids to ride in the fingers or somewhere? Thanks guys.
  11. We are planning on coming out this weekend. We want to camp near the A-11 square on the Dumont map. My 5'ver weighs 18,500lbs. I have 15 years camping experience and know what to look out for when it comes to getting stuck. I am just wondering how the dirt is? Is it really dry and soft? Or is it all pretty safe? Thanks guys.
  12. Wow. What an inspiring thread. You are some really cool people over here. My family will continue praying for Daniel's progress tonight when I get home. Peace.
  13. I have been a Glamis local for nearly 10 years. I had never been to Dumont. I went this weekend and was pleasantly surprized. Things I noticed were that it was waaaay mellow compared to the amount of crazy people that seem to flock to G. And it was beautiful to camp right up to the dunes. Although I do prefer the shear amount of riding area Glamis has to offer over dumont, I will definately be back when time or weather may be an issue. One question I have is about trying to get into the back side of the dunes to camp? Do people do this? Our group has 5 kids that all ride from 40ccs up to 250ccs and they all stay near camp. The smaller dunes in the back part kind of east of everything look perfect for this. I didn't get a chance to really scout out a path back there for my rig. My 5'ver ways 18,500lbs and I don't want to get stuck. Is there a way back there? Thanks guys.
