  1. Nothing happened. See post #5 (below) :old:

I was never planning on going in the first place. I just really enjoy the off weekends and duning hard with just a group of friends so much more latley. We usually have the place to ourselves and it flat out kicks a$$. I like seeing everyone and partying on the big holidays, but I'm kinda over those trips for the rest of the season. So day trip it is for us. :beercheers:

I hear that! :old: We might make it out for Pres day....it's still in the air. If we do it'll be the first big weekend for us this season.

  2. It's been a tough road and I'm proud of you son. :angry2: It's nice to get back to normality (if that's even a word) and get your bike fixed up for ya.

Jon didn't make it, but the family started back to regular dune trips this last weekend before Halloween. It was nice to get back out. :blury:

  3. as the title says what did everyone get for christmas

    me

    new digital camera

    few cd's

    gift cards and money

dvd player my last one took a dump

and most of all my loving family that is still here :angry2:

How did I miss this! I must have done something right. :blury:

  4. I forgot if I can just take off the boots, side covers and the snap ring and take them off without taking off the brake assemblys, tubes etc?

No you'll need to take the axle nut off to slip off the tube assy far enough off to access the snap rings.

Good luck. If you know of a good set of snap ring pliers that work with this I would appreciate some info. I have always found taking the snap rings off to be a challenge with my pliers. :bert:

  5. Nice Cole!!! Way to keep changing it up. :dayum:

Are you planning to put any protection in the passenger compartment? I see so many of these rangers with boocoo $$ spent on suspension, body panels to fit the new suspension, and even cages in the rear and front ends, but they still have the stock 3-point belts and nothing for roll protection in the cab.

I have seen what an incompleted "Ford Ranger" can do to a person's life first hand (no pun intended):

I know this chit ain't cheap , but to spend the $$ (what I see around town) on suspension and looks and nothing on passenger safety is concerning to me. :dayum: It's almost a trend. I also want to be clear that I am not being negative....all of you are my friends and I just want to be sure you are aware of your personal safety.

Keep us updated and a thread on the build would definitely be cool!

  6. I went from a fully loaded flatbed with a 1/2 ton(5.7 ltr) to a 25ft toyhauler with a 3/4 ton(6 ltr). I would be a little nervous if I was outside of my tow ratings, as chit happens and I wanna be damn sure I'm covered.

I do have a friend that towed a 23ft Superlite with his 1/2 ton.

    Good luck withyour choice.

  7. :ah: That hurts just looking at it.

Back in my two wheeler days (1970's) a cactus just like that went right through the top of my riding boot and into my foot. At least 10 needles got through and I had to remove the boot to get them out. All the gear in the world isn't always going to help.

  8. You said he is going to have to be careful with his hand cause of the flap. For the rest of his life?? Does that mean should he does anything to his hand, it could cause problems again down the road with the blow flow??

Yes...and yes. It is nice to have him home again. :rockwoot:

  9. I have had good luck with my 1835 with dual weber 40's for the last 3-4 seasons. I bought a couple of books and the synch...but the last time I paid a guy to tune it up at beetle barn...he said it was tit's as far as being synch'd. No need to mess with it until it really goes out of synch. It's been nice, strong and reliable, although I can't wait until I can upgrade to some more horsepower. It's been a great starter motor.

I haven't heard of the 1935 either...but run what you bring and have fun doing it!! :beercheers:

  10. Hell yeah. It's a chilly 59 degrees this afternoon! Where did THAT come from? It went from warm to cold real freakin fast! Man I can't wait to get back out to the dunes and chill around a campfire.

Season kickoff was great, but it was barley cool enough Sat night to hang out around the fire. I want some COOL weather and it looks like we have it. :D:blury:

I was thinking the same dang thing..... :beercheers:

  11. Hopefully this will be the final update to this thread...and I apologize for not being up to date lately.

He had a 4th and final surgery and the pics the surgeon showed me looked good. The surgeon was very happy...finally. He had to cut out the bruising cause those areas of the muscles were dead.

Three days later he unwrapped the arm and was extremely pleased with the healing process. Jon will have to be careful with his arm especially the area of the "flap". The doc explained that some of his patients have wounded their "flap" and it killed the blood flow off. We are lucky Jon is young and healthy, and is healing quickly

....28 days and counting in the hospital. Today is the 4th straight week....but there is finally light at the end of the tunnel. They are planning on releasing him from the hospital possibly Tue. :beercheers::blury::headbang1: We can't wait....a little normalcy back in life will be nice.

  12. Still in the hospital....after 3 weeks. :DDRrocks: They are watching a quarter size bruise near the thumb to see if it dies off or not......and that's all that's keeping him from coming home. He's in his 5th room now....E367. I need to start the paperwork.....time to get the police report and all that good stuff for my insurance.

Hope everyone enjoyed Dumont for kickoff weekend!!

  13. We just got back from the short 30 min visits we are allowed. Jon was surprisingly in good spirits considering. Both arms are wrapped up and his pain is managed very well. They are keeping his room at 80 degrees....I'm pretty sure that's to keep his extremities plenty warm so there is no need for the body to pool the blood in the organs. The nurse let us hear the flow in the "flap"...which was music to our ears. They also have his pulse hooked up to the finger on his injured hand and it is reading a good pulse. They couldn't get one before.

At this point....so far so good, but we aren't out of the woods yet.
