  1. I will have to say that atv plastic CAN be painted and hold up well......... WHEN DONE RIGHT!

A few years ago I painted the plastic on my shee.... I rolled the bike down a hill and landed on some hard pack dirt/gravel. It hit so hard that it actually tore the plastic and the paint did NOT peal off. I decided to do a face lift on my shee a few years later and this time painted a set of full bore. That was done in late 2003 and is NOT a trailer queen.

  2. HarleyR:

My motor builder highly recommended it, and I have run MANY gallons of it. I find my motor runs MUCH better on 100LL than it does on VP, Torco, F&L, and Sunoco. If I cant get my hands on 100LL then VP is my first choice.

  3. What a great weekend! Great weather, awesome dunes and even better peeps to be there with! :headbang1:

    My observations for the weekend....

Shelly (ynot's wife) makes bitchen sammiches :)

When following a pnaris w/ a flat.... never leave the group no matter how much Duniemonkey says "go that way!"

    Old people rock!

Rhino's (or farm equip) kick a$$.

Strawberry cheesecake and Cannoli's make a great dinner!

Never steal a mans truck, even when its to wash his rhino :mc_smiley: :beercheers:

ps; skinny guys like good desserts too! Just cause were skinny does not mean we dont eat too!

  4. Just my 2cents here..... but asking what everyone else runs is pointless. "everyone" else does not have the same motor as you. Your UCCR will determine what octane your motor will require to run at optimum. As with how much timing advance you run. But to get into specifics I would contact "your" motor builder and see what he recommends

But to play along with this.... "my" motor w/ +4 to +6 degree timing needs at least 112 octane or 100LL avgas. If I advance my timing to +10, then I run methanol

  5. Ash:

I feel your pain! Right now according to the weather channel its a balmy 8 deg outside. Windchills are in the negative digits. Our low tonight is supposed to be between -5 and 2 deg! Tomorrow should be in the mid 20's and snow! Lucky enough for me I'm here until wed of next week..... it sure as hell doesnt help when you have a friend like Terry telling ya on the phone how it was almost 70 and beautiful all day... :happydrunks:

Any news from your dad on your wifes burban? I saw it the other day and it was ready for paint. Let me know how things work out.

  6. Yeah I was awoken by the wife at 6:30 this morning and told we had a waterfall going outside. Apparently the anti siphon valve blew apart. Must have happened late last night before the pool equiptment turned on and would have had water running through it. So it was a search for the part and yeah Star nursery was the only place in town that had the part. You should have seen all the people wandering around Lowes plumbing dept with broken parts in their hands.

Thanks to Walter for all the help!!

Come on Terry... No need to thank me! Just helping a :laughoff: brother out! Just a phone call away :laughoff:

  7. got_boost;

Can you give me a little more info on the 1700sqft house? Location, etc. I may be looking to rent a house here shortly and wouldnt mind helping out a DDR member....

    Thanks

  8. This your first time back east Ash? Now do you see why I wanted out of the great white north?

Ever get your door fixed? Let me know if you still need a hookup!

/me sends Ash a winter parka!

  9. I stopped by to see him tonight and drop off a small container of St'Anthony's sand :) Something for him to look forward too!

He wasnt coming home tonight, but thought he would be released tomorrow. If I hear anything I will let everyone know.

I do have to say it was very nice to see him and in good spirits today! Get well soon!!

  10. ISBB:

the problem with that is as time goes by the value of the bike drops. And if there is a claim... they will only pay you what book value is at the time of loss. With a rider on the policy you can keep a stated value or more for additional items added to the bike. The difference in cost is minimal too...

  11. Quick update on Terry...... He is doing well but in pain. (as to be expected) Its possible he will be coming home tomorrow night but he wont know until later tomorrow afternoon.

    dreamrr;

Terry had back surgery on monday morning. They fused his L4 and L5 vertebrae. He was racing in Lake Elsinore (I think) and an LT500 landed on his back. Since then he has had a lot of back pain and several surgerys. Hopefully this will correct the pains hes been having over the last year or so.

  12. I use Progressive on my banshee, and I pay 28.00 a month. For that I have additional coverage on aftermarket items up to $10,000.00. If I crash or it gets stolen, they will hand me a check for 10k. Well worth the 28.00 a month if you ask me.

  13. Pete:

If all goes well I'd like to stop by during lunch tomorrow and maybe again after work. Let me know what is good for you and maybe we can hook up tomorrow afternoon/evening.

For anyone that cant make it... You can post here and I will print off the page to bring to him. May have to cheer his old @$$ up, and I do look forward to the next dune trip with him. Our ride yesterday after the wind stopped was just short of perfection. Virgin sand.... and no one around. I dont think it gets any better than that...

  14. All is well!! and he is currently in recovery. Surgery took a little longer than expected, but no complications. As of just a few minutes ago he is still under anesthesia, but in recovery. They will be waking him up in a little while. I plan to stop in @ the hospital tomorrow to visit with him, so I will post an update to his recovery, and condition as soon as I get home...

    Get well soon Terry! :shocked2:

  15. Ok I'll give my 2 cents here.......

First off dont do a 370 long rod.... To do so you will need to either bore your cyls out to .080 over and run blaster pistons or stay at the stock bore and run the 795 series Wiseco pistons. Then also add in the long rod crank. It will give you a broader power curve, but not worth the expense (my opinion)

Next.... Why bore your cyls if they are within specs? You will not gain anymore power by going to .020 over bore. If they need a clean up just go .010 over and save the extra bores on the cyls for later.

As for pipes... T5's are the best "all around" pipe for stock to mildly modded machines. CPI's are more of a drag pipe with less low end, and are designed for very agressive port timings. The T6's are great for a "stock" machine. Once you start to mod the bike the T6's will not perform as well as say the T5's or other pipes on the market.

Reed spacers will actually hurt performance since they will lower your crank case pressure and raise its volume, (velocity) when placed between the reed cage and the intake track. If placed between the reed cage and the carb boot it wont do much on a stock motor with stock carbs.

The top things you should do would be either clamp on filters or the flange in the airbox to fix the poor filter design from Yamaha. Coolhead with custom cut domes (not off the shelf generic cuts), Fresh bore/pistons. Pipes of your choice...... And make sure you rejet!

Just remember that if you decide to have it ported later.... the pipes you have may not work as well as another pipe, so find a builder that you can trust and go from there. I've done this several times over the years and wish I could go back and not waste $ on crap that doesnt work..

    Good luck

  16. Walter is a pretty good chaffurer got us and back without getting lost or killing us!

Some vendors near FODD booth with lot's of flatbillers and crap music had some real attitude to dish out to their customers!

    It was ALL GOOD!!

Thanks to Walter, Pete and Anna for donating their time to us. We appreciate it.

To Sailaway and all the DUNERS gang again thanks for the use of your booth and the party it was fun but my feet still hurt!! :D

Awww Come on Terry... I told ya I wouldnt kill us! :freakin_nuts:

You are welcome Vicki!! and terry....

This being my first SSSS trip.....

Tim was right when he said "There is more plastic/silicone here, than in Vegas...

    flatbillers suck

R.I.S Designs needs to bring more than one cd (and hopefully not stripper music)...

K&K really needs to open something on the west coast....

Telling freaks and flatbillers that Dumont is too small and crowded is key!!

Cali traffic can kiss my balloon knot!
