well belive me, there is not alot to do up here...not a dam bit of decent riding area to be found
Ragdoll:
You couldnt pay me enough to ride in NY unless it was WAY upstate. The registry will take your bike and will NOT release it (held in an impound lot) until you show enough proof that you own it WITH registration in your state. This happened to a friend of mine and it took almost a year to get back from the state. Whe he did get it back there wasnt much left. (frame, 1/2 a motor and misc parts) The registry would not do a thing about the parts stolen off of it while it was in impound either. I've since heard that not only does it need to be registered in NY but you have to show proof of insurance, AND it's still illegal to ride in the state?
And people wonder why I wanted the hell out of New England!

problem was the rectifier. One of the pins started to melt within the plug. Once removed you could see where a small piece of metal was sticking through the backing/plastic. I think it could have been grounding out against the frame. Either way he contacted the co he bought it from and they admitted to having problems with all of them. They will be sending him a new updated version!
-
yes.. i've had a few items installed on it as follows:
black rhino performance 500 watt stator & rectifier.
dynatek cdi box.
trinity racing full exhaust.
hardstyle k&n filter kit.
i do not have a repair manual with a wiring diagram, as it wouldn't do me any good. i can handle pretty much anything on a machine except for electrical applications.
it ran fine with these modifications before that night. it needs to be checked out by someone who's motivated and not by someone who's employed by a dealership who'll just want to replace everything on it and take six months doing it.
b370.. you sound confident that you'd be able to diagnose it and/or fix my problem. if you're available sometime in the next couple days i'd appreciate if you can take some time to look at it. i'd be more than willing to compensate you for your time. thanks brother.
Who did the install on all your extras? I can tell you this... If you bring it to a dealer they are going to tell you warranty is either void or the repairs will NOT be covered under warranty since the electrical sys has been modded.
What is your schedule like the next few days? From wed afternoon on is bad for me. Unless you will be around thursday morning? I should have time tomorrow afternoon as w/ Tuesday afternoon. Chasing electrical problems can be fun :shocked2:

High Octain:
I may have some time early this week to look at it. For some background I used to run a car stereo shop for a few years and have a lot of 12v expereience. Let me know if I can help.
Besides that.... Has anything been done to the rhino since it was purchased? Any modifications? When did this start to happen? Was anything done just prior to this? Do you have a repair manual w/ a wiring diagram?

Starts off a little slow but well worth the dl time!!

As long as I know ahead of time I'll come give you a hand. There are a few tricks that I did on Terry's that will make the biggest difference. (I used to run a 12v car audio shop back east) It may take a little longer to do but will pay for itself in the long run. Always remember the alarm is only as good as how well they are installed.
In the mean time, I thought about something I saw at one of my shops back east. Its a hunting item (no not a shotgun for the POS theifs, tho it would be nice) These guys picked up these motion cameras that were infrared (stills not motion) They used it to scope out hunting spots in heavy wooded areas. They would leave some feed out and mount this camera to a tree. As soon as it detected any motion it would start snapping off photos. It can be used w/ or w/o a flash and worked VERY VERY well. I believe it was 35mm film that you loaded in but Im sure by now they have digital. I am not sure the cost but they were fairly cheap. I saw first hand the photos taken by these cameras and I was very impressed. I am back east right now and could get ahold of some info on them if you would like. If I remember right you could set the timing on the camera (how many shots per second or minute.
Sincity Blondie;
Im sure we could work something out.

You will know ahead of time before they ever get inside. It will only take one time, that they know you now have an alarm on it, to leave it alone. Let me know if I can help
-
Pete:
I installed Terry's alarm in his TPD, and I have to its a slick system. Even IF they try to steal the whole trailer, its hard to get away w/ all the brakes locked. It will get the point across to anyone "trying" to get into it.
Good luck dude and I hope you catch the effrs

If you cant find anyone to shoot it let me know. Do you have anyone that could blast it? And do you have an air compressor and an area to shoot it? At worst I am almost sure I could come up with a place to shoot it, I'd just need it blasted. To give you a little background, I'm a paint rep for PPG, and have been painting for too many years. Materials and colors would not be a problem.

Thanks ISBB.... I'll give them a call next week.

You know I was just about to post this same question. My new company car came in and tinted windows are a must. Whats legal here in Vegas? Quick turn around time? Cost? Who should we ask for and should we drop DDR's name for a discount?
Thanks in advance!

I dont have the exact price but I am insured through Progressive. I have 10k cap on my 88 banshee w/ full coverage. When I called up for coverage they gave me some lame figure of what they would cover up too.. (wouldnt even cover what I have in motor work or the art work alone) When I requested that I wanted a minimum of 10k the girl laughed and said "For an atv"? I pay roughly 26.00 a month for full coverage including comprehensive and liability.
Hope that helps

If I lived in the heat I'd add solar elect to the house,, and then A/C the garage too, and forget swamp coolers.
If ya slightly oversize the solar elect panels, they'll reverse the meter enough to recover the cost of nite time cooling as well.
If you go electric heat, & elect water heater,,, then it works year round.
A good investment if you take in all the power company incentives and rebates and tax advantages.
I'd love to line in AZ or Nev.
Whats the initial cost of that? It sounds like a good idea to help combat the high costs of electricity in NV. I'm coming from Ct where utilities arent cheap either, but no real benefit to solar back east. (ya kinda need sun for solar to work)

Thanks Terry! But its just a 350... nothing special Its just a trailer queen anyways.
I dont think its the fastest, but it can hold its own... (not against a busa-shee tho)
Is this fastest on the hill or in the dunes? Mine doesnt carve all that well w/ a +4 swingarm and 10 paddle haulers. I made that mistake once and it sent me over a razor faster than I wanted it too!
