  1. This is such a great story of true volunteer efforts from those that love the dunes. The ASA board asked me to add it to the online version of the ASA newsletter for September. THANKS everyone.
  2. The California Off Road Vehicle Association (CORVA) will be holding their second attempt at elections. The date is set for Saturday, May 31st and it should be an exciting meeting as long time president Mr. Ed Waldheim is officially retired as the president. We have 2 CORVA members currently seeking to hold the president title. Go to the CORVA web site at; http://www.corva.org to see all the nominated candidates listed to date. I'm currently the Southern Regional Secretary for CORVA and I'm seeking the office of Vice President of Administration. As I've done for the ASA over the past 7 years, I would like to better serve and help organize this near 40 year old organization for the benefit of ALL that ride in California. Only CORVA members can vote in the upcoming elections, so if you would like to support my efforts to take CORVA into the future please consider joining. http://www.corva.org/join.html I'm also running with other folks too, we call ourselves "TEAM CORVA 2008" and have a vision to take CORVA to the next level. Myself and ASA volunteer Katherine Kelsey (who with husband Darren have overseen the volunteers for the ASA booth over the past 5 years at the Sand Sports Super Show) are seeking your support. Katherine is running for the open Secretary office and currently a CORVA Field Representative. We are both members and officers of R&R Duners Club that ride at both the ISDRA and Dumont Dunes. Not just duners, Katherine and I along with our families love to ride desert too. We each have an adopted Joshua tree at El Mirage Dry Lake bed and ride the hard pack there and other places. And Katherine can drive her rail or her motorcycle with the best of them! Take a look here for more information on our goals and our other team members seeking office. We have extended candidate bio's with contact information on the site below. http://www.rrduners.com/index.php Thanks, Jim Colln CORVA Southern Regional Secretary ASA Newsletter Editor R&R Duners Club - Vice President

  5. I'll say this over and over... EDUCATION is the key! If those that recreate at the dunes KNOW how important it is to keep out of those areas, I believe the majority of OHV incursions would stop. There is but ONE road that leads into Dumont and groups like FoDD should be focusing their efforts on educating the users in my opinion.
  6. I'm making comments on the BLM Barstow field offices grant proposal. This funding would come from our Green Sticker fund and I don't really see the need, do you? http://www.blm.gov/style/medialib/blm/ca/p...view_packet.pdf If approved, funded and completed, can you guess where the money will come from in the future to keep it maintained?
  7. I was unable to attend the TRT meeting, were the fees for next season finalized and set in stone? I believe they still need to post them in the Federal Register to make them official and enforcable. Thanks.
  8. It is not set in stone yet. The BLM still needs to discuss the fees with the RRAC (Recreation Resource Advisory Council) when it is established and publish the information in the Federal Register. Next TRT meeting is August 21st where I'm sure this will be a main topic. The information above was given out at the last DAC meeting in the Barstow field managers report.
  9. Happy B-Day Pete. Only 2477 more peeps here on DDR need to wish you a great day... And you don't look a day over 29 either... Thanks for everything you're doing for our dunes.
  10. From the Barstow Field Manager's Report from the last DAC meeting. Next TRT meeting: August 21, 2007 10 AM BLM Barstow Field Office Conference Room 2601 Barstow Road, Barstow, CA 92311 For more information call (760) 252-6000
  11. Need I say more... thanks Don, you said that beautifully... CORVA website
  12. NOTHING PETE... you're just trying to make the perfect flyer and you WILL... (with a little help that is) These flyers should also be given to the vendors to pass out.
