  1. Woohoo! :fro: We have 3 now... and your :beat: better not be broken! Don't get too close to those other 2 they really do rub off, . My only question now is, who's leading this  adventure? :dunno::lol:

Hey, you were doing pretty good out there on New Years. I think you could handle leading one. Just follow the nice long sweepers like I showed you. You'll do just fine. Just remember your bike has enough power and not be afraid to turn into the hill to stay on the side slopes. You can do it! :laughoff::lol:

  2. Should i try to tighten the bars as much as possible? I can get 4 chain links down when setting them up but maybe i should just put it on the 3rd link, just thought the tighte rthe better on the bars.

That depends. Is your truck sagging big time with the 3 links down? If not and it tows good, then leave it. The tighter the bars are the more weight that it tranfers to the front and off the back tires. Kinda wierd but that is how it works. Hope that helps.

  3. I personally love my yfz. Ive had 2 of them and I would buy another in a heartbeat. The YFZ is plenty wide, has a great stance, looks sexy, and has more after market parts then any of the other bikes.

And to the guy who has 12k in his YFZ and cant beat a CB'd LTR...... Take up chess.

Do you not know how to read? I said he did beat me.

And that 12k isn't just "go-fast" parts, it included him buying the quad BRAND NEW, hot cams White Bros full exhaust, Full intake, and some misc parts. It also included the long travel suspension and all the other goodies he has added. It is definately fast. I love how people assume things. Don't get me wrong the YFZ is a fast bike, I was just stating that money for money the LTR is a better buy. I am sure you can race us anytime you want, but we don't exactly buy them to just shoot the hill. They are for duning which to me is a lot more exciting. So if you wanna ask which is better for duning stock vs. stock, then hands down the LTR.

By the way his YFZ put down a respectable 50HP on Powerhouse's dyno. (Maybe it was his Sand Star paddles, must have been like having his parking brake on)

    Any other smart a$$ remarks?

  4. The issue turns out to have been a exhaust back pressure valve that was stuck. This is where the noise was coming from the back pressure, and the turbo also ran hotter than usual. They checked out the turbo, all seems to be fine, but I've got it documented in the records that if my turbo goes, we all know it was overheated due to the bad valve.....I've got another 35K on the warranty so if it's bad, I'm hoping that it would happen before another 35K.

    Thanks lvnalolife

Sorry for not getting back to you yet. I rarely check this until it gets closer to Thirsty Thursday. Glad they were able to figure it out for you. Here is a site with a lot of good info on it

    Diesel Stop

Let me know if you have any other questions or need anything.

  5. I am a Ford owner and I say the Chevy! The Mega Cab's AC sucks in the summer. My boss has one and hates that. I know the Chevy AC will freeze you out like my Ford. Besides the Chevy interior is WAY more comfortable than the Dodges. The only thing Dodge has going for them is the Cummins diesel motor which is the sh*t!

About towing with a lifted vehicle, the Dodge, if you lift it, will be more stable as it has a solid front axle. I have a 10.5" lift on my Ford and pull a 34' bumper pull Toy Hauler.

  6. I have an 08 SE Suzuki LT-R450 and love it. My buddy has a YFZ which beats me by about a quad up comp. He said he has over 12k into his including buying it. He even said if he was going to buy a new quad it would be the 08 LT-R450. I have only added a Cherry bomb and dropped the front sprocket one tooth. If I had exhaust he probably wouldn't have beat me. This thing just rails thru the dunes. I feel very comfortable on it. Sometimes too comfortable!

I bet Paully Paul hasn't seen this yet or maybe he has and doesn't want too many people to buy this bad a$$ machine.

  7. Sounds kinda like an exhaust back pressure valve problem. It might be sticking halfway closed. It is used to help warm up the motor when its cold. Otherwise maybe a boost leak like one of the tubes to the intercooler piping has come off. Both will cause exhaust temps to rise.

  8. that almost sounds dirty :flipoff::stirthepot::laughing:

it was a guy from the camp next to us. Ryan pulled him out from deep in the dunes

it looks like another U-joint axle victim  (i think "extreme" axles in this case)

it looked like the complete hub was "pressed" out of the trailing arm :hello:

Love the use of the fold up table to help it "sled" through the dunes and get a lot less damage! :thumb:

  9. I used to be the parts manager YEARS ago at Carters (when it was old Desert Motorsports on Trop) , and I'll say honestly, they really are a great bunch of folks there, especially Dan the Parts Manager now, and Rich and Sal the sales managers, all really good guys.

Nevada Suzuki has Tom, one of the nicest and knowledgable guys around on dem der Zukes, and carries more parts in stock for them than any other dealer I've seen.

Yeah I bought my 08 LTR from Carter. Got them down on price too! I could have saved $600 more if I went down to LA, but I figured it was worth it to me to stay in town. (Fuel there and back plus meals would have easily been $250) So I guess I only spent about $350 more staying in town. Good people to work with. Go see Ryan, my salesman, he was a very cool guy. Also when you buy a bike or quad from them you get 10% off accessories for 3 months. There prices are actually very reasonable compared to other places too.

  10. So are you saying to let off some of the weight of the bars? I will try that because I have air bags. These sould help with some of the left over sag or if I need to get it more level.

Yes by going less tension on the weight distribution, it will give more weight on the rear wheels. And yes then you can use the air bags to level out.
