  1. pulled in no problem...probably could have done it in 2 wheel drive but the ground was very hard packed due to rain on tuesday (what I heard). It still seems to tow better on the road and in the sand. I think even though it is 5000K heavier, it tows better due to triple axles. We'll see in a few months when the sand is all tore up how it does. If you see a big tractor towing out a red dodge with a big WW behind it, you'll know the was me
  2. nice looking truck. Let me know how the tires work in the sand for you. We almost bought that same trailer, nice layout. Nitto does not make the dune grappler in my size but they do make the terra grappler.
  3. are you towing with a dually or single. What are your new tires?
  4. Got a quick question and wanted to get some feedback. We usually camp around the second sand finger backed up to the finger facing the opeing to cop hill. (B6 on the map looking at the opening) Old toyhauler weighed @15k-16k loaded 2 axle. So that is about 3750-4k on each tire. We usually made it there and out with no problems. Sometimes a little hard getting back up to the road where the vendors were but never got stuck or towed. New trailer weighs @ 20K but triple axle so that is only @3333 on each tire. I am worried about going to the same spot and getting stuck. Seems like it will be just as easy since less weight on each tire but yet more weight for the truck to tow. And also I heard that triple axle is more drag in the sand regardless that the weight is spread out more. What do you guys think? anyone have experience going from dual to triple axle? Thanks
  5. yEAH...i DON'T THINK SO!! I would surely get out there unless I park on the road
  6. yeah the extra 5' added alot. I am going to get the J endorsement and in the future maybe the f450 but I wanna wait to see how that new engine does. the truck really did tow it nice. I have added airbags and the edge to it and it towed up the big mounain from cali (cohon pass sp?) at 65. The big hill outside of Baker is the only hill that slowed me to 45 but once it downshifts to 2nd I can do 45 up any hill. Braking is good on the trailer. The real concern I have is where to park now at Dumont. I need to stay away from any sandy areas or I will be screwed of course when I get my lotto money I will just buy a frightliner..those are bada$$
  7. you don't really wanna know 17,300
  8. Yeah, he was great!!! And yes that one pic on the side of the raod makes it look super long. I took it that way on purpose. Not that its not long anyway 45' but I walked to the other side of the road and went down into the desert a little bit so I was looking up at the trailer
  9. So here are some pics of our new rig. Got it from Shawn at Giant RV in Cali. He and Linda are great people to deal with. Towed great, just won't be going very far into the dunes any more. SEE YOU GUYS IN THE DUNES
  10. 8620....just the truck obviously...just getting ready to weigh the new rig
  11. Thanks for the info.. I made it there today and it was $8.50
  12. Does anybody know what thier hours are? Is it for public use or only commercial? Where is it when you pull in?
  13. Well, I just got a phone call back from the C.H.P. They answered my questions. And just so everyone knows this is what they said" According to Cali D.O.T. statute 24.002 they can (and will) pull a private rig/rv over if they have suspiscion that the trailer is over weight (i.e. tires look buldging, truck squated too much or any other reason they probably want to give) They will weigh the rig and if over weight you will be fined and the trailer will not be allowed to leave since then they would be liable if you wrecked. He did say this has been brought to thier attention because of all the new trailers coming out so heavy. So I guess this makes my decision for me and I will have to cancel my order for the WW Full Throttle. That SUCKS!! :Danielle: And it was due in next week
  14. That might be true but I also have a friend that wrecked and was way over weight for the tow vehicle and the cops never even questioned it and the insurance paid it off including what was inside. So did they just miss the fact or is it not really a law????
  15. Would someone please give some more info on this..I have heard it both ways when it comes to weight. I am about to buy a WW FTL and WW told me it is not illegal if your over GVW as long as your not commercial. I also asked 2 CHP's and they agreed. But I keep reading about this on here and another site that they wil ticket you and red tag you. But where does it say it on the books. WW told me they can only ticket you if your over the weight rating of the tires which these tires are rated at like 21K but the sticker on trailer says 17K GVW. of course they just want to sell me a trailer Really need some answers fast not just opinion. Need to see it in writing or a copy of someones ticket or a phone number of someone that knows.. PLEASE HELP
  16. Roy, I have been having the same concerns as you and now that I bought a bigger trailer ( and a lot heavier) I did some research to find the best solution for me. I run up to 1400 on hills and have been told that its ok that high for a short time (that came from edge). Talked to edge about an aftermarket intercooler and they said they have done two of them and saw no drop in egt. My solution: Water/Meth injection. drops egt @200. only use it when you want and easy install. and if your not looking to get hp increase out of it then you can run it 80/20 (80% water) which is blue -20 deg windshield washer fluid. So its cheap to buy. If you want more hp then you can run a mixture of 50/50 but then you got to mix it yourself. Sun Performance Mike
  17. I would recommend not hiring a pool company and just sub contracting it yourself. Sounds hard and a lot of time but it is not if you hire a consultant. That is what we did. Saved well over 15k. We paid this guy a few thousand and he has all the numbers and names of the contractors that actually do the work for the pool company. You get same warranty on work and equipment but your cutting out the middle guy as that is all the pool company is. They don't have thier own workers they just call out thier work. With our guy you can get a lot more for your money. For what the pool company wanted for our pool (just pool and spa) no raised area and only 3 foot walk around pool we got: bigger pool, pebble tech, salt system, stamped concrete including our entire yard done in concrete with a firepit area that is stw steps up and also two coloums that have wok pots on them and the spa is like 3 feet higfh above pool. We got all that for the price of a pool companies just pool. Biggest advantage is our pool was done in 3 months as opposed to all our neighbors who started same time took them like 6 months. These people will work on your pool faster and on weekends because they know your paying for each phase when it is done. A pool company won't pay these people until the entire project is done so when they did ours they would blow off the pool company and come work on ours. BEST WAY TO DO IT!! imho
  18. I would have to agree with you on this but it is complicated. As a business owner here in vegas I have to pay sales tax to the state for everything I sell. They audit MY paperwork. If I did not collect the sales tax from a customer then I am screwed and have to pay it anyway. They only go by what I sold. They do not go back to the customer and say "Oh, this guy screwed up, you now owe us sales tax". The state can't do that. It is not the responsibility of the buyer, it is the business that has to do it. Now, for the complicated part as you already know. Nevada has found a way to force you to pay it by registration in nevada. If you don't register or take the bike somewhere else then there is NO way they can make you pay. But if you want to register then you have to pay. Almost a catch 22. But as far as the dealership sending you a letter saying you owe them sales tax money, That's their mistake.
