I know there are lots of smart people at the dunes, and a lot that just don't think at all But maybe ,just mabe if everyone kept this in thought we could come up with some Ideas to make it safer something like some type of direction of travel, a section of the dunes thats slow speed, a jump section thats one way, a higher speed track for quads, I know I picked up a phobia for what on the other side, but I have always pre run the dunes slow because of the ever changing sand. most of the fun at the dunes is the freedom to do what ever, when ever. I'm not sure what the answer is, or if there is an answer, but mark these words. we as duners better do something or a group of people that have never been to the dunes will step in. and when they start mak'n rules non of them will make sence. I'll start off, add to this list any ideas you might have flag size minimun 16"x16" 12' from the ground

My family and my self have allways been duners,and can't amagine not doing it. but what else is there? we also do the lake thing in the summer. after the colision I was in volved in at dumont i'm seriously think'n about the safety of my family, and the danger involved. I'm starting to view duning as target practice in a school playground what if you could go out in a helicopter on thanks giving weekend and spend the day hovering over, how many close calls do you think you will see??? I for one think the rhino thing was a good thing because it slowed a lot of people down. I think something needs to happen to better orginize the dunes, it's kinda like a skating rink where no one goes the same direction. now add hi powered sand toys and un trained drivers. accidents waiting to happen! as the years go by more and more people are show'n up at the dunes, off weekends are a thing of the past, quads, dirt bikes, sand rails all traveling at high rates of speed going in every direction. I've allways used the left turn rule when hill climbing, if you can't make it up the hill you turn to the left and head back down, that way it was predictable what you were doing we used to wait till the person ahead of you cleared the hill before you took off. now people go every which way same as driv'n on the street, when you come up on someone you'd yeild to the right now it's like a gun fight, or a chicken match you have to wait till they make a move, then try avoid hitting them. myself I'm ready to throw in the towel and do something different, in fact I went and bought another harley today. I think the accidents at the dunes are only gonna get worse, more and more I hear of life changing accidents that just were bound to happen anyway, anyone have any ideas to make it safer for a guy to take his family to the dunes?? or is gonna become dare devil crash fest

Sunday a little before noon, Little danny 9 yrs. old and myself were involved in a colision that left danny unconscious. he was flown to UMC were he is now still in a coma. He is in desperate need of all your prayers,for him self and all of his family. I've had a very very hard with this, as I have 3 sons of my own, all that ride dirt bikes. I ask all that read this to leave a post and a prayer for danny, and not to inquire about the details this on this thread or start any kind of debate. but feel free to do so on your own thread.

of all the billions spent on bike lanes, they pick the narrowest road with no shoulder to race???? look to me like more of a protest to off road events!!!

Stake'n off the finger dunes, boy that horse has been beat too death!!! they still do it though. what I like is why!!! "we do it so some sand rail doesent come over the hill and kill our kids" cones on sand dunes are like filters on ciggarettes

We went about 3 miles a hour all the way to the tocopa turn off, that road has no shoulder, blind turns, and 6% grades!!!! not to mention on halloween weekend all the motorhomes and toy haulers. then when we got to the red rock area,they have a bike lane and the idots were riding out on the left side of the white line!!! spandex causes brain damage, balls are not boobies, they are susposed to hang

we entered our motor home and box trailer in the bike race on the way home sunday, wonder who, and why they scheduled a bike race on one of the busiest days for big rig traffic????

we had a great time. left everyting fast at home took the joyner commandos went people watching and dirt hill climbing
