  1. i cant remember which issue its in but the dude in sand sport that does the movies supposedly hes the one that picks up the mail in there. he has the colum " NOrth of zyzzyxs" and there was a whole story about it and supposedly the people still come out to the dunes............................................. :bawl:

  2. hell yeah, that's a great idea......go rebar and caution tape off Comp Hill :laughoff: that would go over like a turd in a punchbowl.............. I wonder if the rangers would do anything about that? :dunce:

the nerve of people!!! " hey, I play in the middle of the freeway.......................you people need to slow down, as sometimes, I bring my kids out here........." :fro: :laughoff::laughoff::laughoff::idiot::bawl:

and when I point out the facts, what does bearfoot bob do?????? resorts to name calling :idiot: dude, the high school forums are on another web page. yeah, I'm stupid :dunce:

do you have anything of importance to say ?? the fingers are not a freeway. the fingers are not duneable area they are all within camp limits which requires you to go slow.

I am an old schooler im 42 and been going duning since diapers and an old school rule was you didnt haulass around peoples camps. you didnt create dust where you camp or others. you want to haul a$$ grow up and go to the big dunes. people are using cones (im not ) to protect because of people who cant follow rules. You dont like the rules go to the blm .

Richard i do not know you but you are giving every indication that you are one of the many disrespectfull a$$hats out there. you do not have a right to haul a$$ on the fingers those are peoples camps. if people had respect like the old days people wouldnt need them. there is no respect for peoples camps nowadays i becon you to refer to resident blondes post.

I do agree with you however on the rebar.

pismo in the 70s/80s (before the closures) is nothing like dumont ss with all respects sir(< no that isnt sarcasm} you could let your kids go on the backside of camp away from the ocean and no one would bother them and if you did you were liable to get the crap knocked outa you.i could ride till i collapsed and never be in danger. and it wasnt just flat ground what the hell are the kids gonna learn on flat ground. maybe just maybe the ones without kids should camp away from the fingers. aaaaaaa two way street i see. we do take our kids on a heavily protected dune rides on the flats around to north pole and through the lil valley by comp. we have a good time .

its funny my simple disagreement. has turned into this . lol i dont use cones rebar or tape but as i stated i think parents should use RUBBER cones. i think they should leave traveld way up on top and i think that they should allow an escape for someone who gets stuck . they dont own it but i dont object to the way they protect there children. it has forced alot of people to slow down on the fingers i like that. :dunno:

PS : Richard dont act victimized on the name callin you refered to me as a drunk who doesnt watch his children i swear you rattle just to make noise

  3. Not at all. u shouldnt have to rope off an area. if ure a responsible parent then your kids would know better then to wonder off. We have the roomates kids as well that ride around the camp, but they know that if there is any reason for them to have to change direction for five minnutes then they have the respect to do so. Their kids were riding, and im not being sarcastic, as close as they could to our tents and other quads. actually almost hit our truck cuz of them being so close, and all we asked for was five minnutes to clean out the carb. if any other camp would have asked the kids at our camp to do so, we would have been more then happy to tell them to go the other direction for a few minnutes to they wouldnt kick up dirt. They were doing roosters and just being Boogers on pourpose.

lol please tell them it didnt come from my side of you so they dont think we were the ones

  4. Just an input: You also can get a hold of A.R.T.S safety tech inspect team , I am sure Art would be more than happy to inpect and give you input or your cars safety (he is extremely maticulous on safety due to him self bieng injured in a race accident) as well as tubing thickness without cutting into tubing, he does all of our offroad race tech inpects..he can be located on snores website snoreracing.net

the petroleum plants we work on have pipe fitters and they must hold a master welders card and even though they have all that they still require x rays of welds. that xray stuff can tell you alot from what theyr saying

  5. Let me say that DDR were great neighbors never rude and im not attacking anyones beliefs i have an opinion and i gave it .However some people think im attacking DDR or complaining i merely have a difference of opinion.

For those who have duned for alot of years things are changing and a$$hats are plentifull and because of this i feel the way i do about cones (NOT REBAR FFS ) but that doesnt mean that i am angry at the next guy for feeling differently

With that said because i have a diffrent opinion doesnt mean im a drunk or neglecting my kids and i need some sort of rubber babysitter. that is rude and uncalled for .

    just agree to disagree................. :beercheers:

  6. Richard Cheez are you really that stupid ???? :beercheers:

it would be better than talking about the death of a child cause of some a$$hat that thought it was his right to haul a$$ through the fingers . the rules even state you are to go like 25 arund campsights. but who is adhering to it ???
so because one rule is broken, THAT makes it ok to put everyone else at risk w/ rebar, and cordoning off the finger dunes??? how about camp AWAY from the finger dunes, like back in the flats??? again, logic

a: i agree rebar is bad slow down and read my post.

b: Do you know what you are ranting about?

c: to help you along ill state my point clearly

i think its smart to rubber cone half of the side hills for the kids so they are not hurt by geniuses that think the fingers are a place to haul a$$ around camps.

so you take my post and decide that im out drinking and ignoring my kids. and that 1 broken rule thats CONSTANTLY broken, and almost a killed a kid last year should not infringe on your comfort zone ??? genius pure genius

    meandjamesrides.jpg

as you can see in this pic we had nothing up at all we were right next to ddr you would no that except............................. o ya you wernt there! so your flappin about what exactly ???

ddr ( to help you along ) is right on the otherside of that motorhome with the box trailer. and i will add that ddr were great neighbors . so your feelin all defensive about what i dunno . im aloud an opinion so if your attacking my opinion why go off on so many diferent directions ???

  7. this my car i call it "draggin tales" its an eyeball fabrication phantom it has 20" front on bypasses and 23" rear on bypasses chromoly frame powersteering mendeola sequential trans with a 383 ci chevy small block with eagle 4" stroke crank, eagle rods ,je pistons, pro comp cam, gear drive, mowtown hardcore aluminum heads that flow 310 cfm per cyl, and 871 don hampton blower and f.a.s.t. fuel injection it puts out 600hp to the rear wheels. conservatively it can do much more but it would be un duneable . im turning it down its running 15lbs boost im going down to 10 - 12lbs. hallowen was its first trip on new motor. i put seat heaters in , navigation, and a stereo. i like it its scary fast.

    and its here http://eyeballfab.com/

  8. well fyi our camp there was no rebar on the hill or tape or cones. that was the camp next to us. 2 camps from you guys we were next door :beercheers: and although i think roping the finger halfway is prudent i do not believe that rebar is safe or proper to use on the hill like that. i believe our neighbors were using rubber cones im not honestly sure......................... :beercheers:

  9. you make it sound unsafe... the front end was only a pack of cigarettes width from the ground.. waaaaaaah

so if its low to the ground it is unsafe ???? :shocked2: it rides rough but not unsafe and if you refer yourself to 25 mph thread youll see i bagged a lil on beam cars . well that car would jar you like nobodies bussiness. people were amazed it made it to the wall. but you felt like this when you got there>>> :loser::woo_hoo: so ease up your awfully defensive over nothing.............................. i was trying to convey that it was rough riding but that car craft did an excellent job on the turbo system.

p.s. no one ever did figure out why the front was so low it had full springs lastest rag beam no one purposely lowered it we were pulling our hair out trying to figure out how to raise it

  10. Almost everytime cars pulled out of your camp(green car included) all the cars would fly up the big part of the finger dune to get to the other side :shocked2: :woo_hoo: :fro:

true, but when we got to the top we backed off, rolled at an angle over the dune, and crept down the other side. we didnt go blindly over or go haulin a$$ down the road on the top. What does that have to do with the kids? that was in front of our camp and we know where are kids were. We didnt fly over the other side. at least my car certainly did not! and people in my camp didnt section anything off . and if you know of a way to get my car to slow roll up that hill at a portly 2800 lbs im all ears i doubt that the red car flew over the other side either. the whole point of this is that i disagree. that people should section off at least halfway. its only an opinion but its mine . and i kinda seriuosly doubt that we even were able to break the in camp limit on that lil hill goosin it to get over the top. we could have gone up on the short hill by your camp but there was alot of kids riding there and i certainly didnt want to drive up on them. :loser:

  11. :dunno:

i went to china wall on a 300ex... get over it dude... and yes i went to china wall in a pickup too... im gonna die next time i do it because its unsafe!

    :shocked2: :woo_hoo::loser: :fro: :laughoff::laughoff::laughoff::laughoff::laughoff::laughoff::laughoff::laughoff::laughoff::laughoff::laughoff::laughoff::laughoff::laughoff::laughoff::laughoff::D:D:D:P:P:P:P:P

and by the way there was nothing unsafe about that sand car so you are isinuating............................................. :dunno:

  12. you cant say f roping off a piece of the finger there are so many a$$hats that are hauling a$$ in the finger dunes. the children are in danger . i dont like that rebar thing i know tom puts it down around camp but the people next to us had the hill taped off. i dunno if it was rebar or not . those folks are from vegas we know a few of them .( i almost had to punch one of them i hate techno music at 1:30 in the morning)

anywase the lil ones need protecting to and if we adaults are alil uncomfortable i dont see a problem.

it would be better than talking about the death of a child cause of some a$$hat that thought it was his right to haul a$$ through the fingers . the rules even state you are to go like 25 arund campsights. but who is adhering to it ???

we didnt rope off the finger right next to you but the other camp did and quiet frankly i liked it cause it slowed people down from haulin a$$ through there. :shocked2: :woo_hoo:

if you recall last year a child was seriously hurt cause some genius in a sand rail thought that the fingers was a usable dune and ran him over .

  13. Talk to Ed ,Shane or Ron at Car Craft i had a vw turbo they are the shiiiiit for turbos

my old car turboed by car craft

( and yes its a beam car and yes the front was a cig pack off the ground and yes i went to china wall several times in it and yes i ate alot of sand )

  14. Here's a question I have....do you really think a chassis should be back in the dunes if it has taken a hard a$$ hit...like the one picture above? Doesn't that do some damage to the integrity of the overall chassis? I ask because I'm not a structural engineer.......

firepole i cannot answer that i do not know. i do know the chassi biulder.( he is photoed there as well as myself. and a few others)they told me that the car had zero deflection on the angles when disassembled and inspected by the builder. phill is a personnel freind of cris hersch from eyeball.

While Chris is an egomaniac he is saftey minded ( he runs a 900 hp twin turbo) and he is biulding a few very high horsepower cars and he is adding all the time to the structure he has gone to thicker wall tubings and different bracing. ( im going to retrofit my bracing as well) he would not let phill into the dunes with that car if he didnt think it was safe.

anything more than that i cannot add .

  15. First off, it goes without saying this is an absolute tradgedy and it hurts across the duning community even though most of us didn't know the folks that lost their lives in this incident. Most of us in my camp physically saw the wreckage at the site and I will say it put a tremendous damper on the rest of our entire groups' weekend. NOBODY wishes that on anyone, it's just aweful.

I'm a little disturbed at some of the reaction on the board toward people asking legitimate questions. I hope it's just because some of you knew the people that passed and are still emotionally leveled by all of this, that is understandable. I don't think anyone is out to get anyone in regard to the incident, the driver made a terrible mistake and payed a horrendous consequence for it. What's done is done.

Now, why not take the opportunity to make something good come out of an otherwise tragic situation and learn any and all lessons we can from this aweful event. IMO, any fatal accident at any dunes should be fully investigated and the findings disclosed to the public. The ultimate in my mind would be an impartial investigative /review body comprised of law enforcement, chassis builders, and perhaps some other members of the duning community such as someone on the TRT etc.

This is just one guys opinion but in my mind if you personally know the builder of any car involved in a fatal incident then you are inherently disqualified from looking at the event in an unbiased and objective manner. It is also my opinion that holding back the maker (either the company or an individual) of any vehicle involved in a fatal event is doing a disservice to anyone running that chassis or anyone actively involved in deciding what chassis to buy. If we can get decent unbiased facts after a fatal incident people should have the right to access that information in order to make an educated choice.

Yes, none of the above information will bring back the folks that lost their lives last weekend BUT I we can be guaranteed one thing for sure, holding back information from other duners will have absolutely zero chance of perhaps preventing deaths in the future. Again, it's NOT about pointing fingers at whomever built this car, it's about potentially improving car design to help TRY to prevent deaths in the future.

Once again, everyone I know that dunes are so sickened by this terrible incident it's unreal. Godspeed to the folks that passed and we have their families in our prayers.

    amen

  16. i dunno about that guys car structurly, i know it bugs me when they dont have a side pillar.

andrew buck before breaking his back was jumping 70 to 80 feet in his cars and 20 to 30 feet high. i witnessed the rollover pictured below. it was end over end and 1 full rollover sideways damage, 1 broken light, 2 broken flags, and 1 ego. we rolled it over and duned all weekend. Saftey is a big deal with me i'm running 600 horsepower to the rear wheels per westech chassi dyno mira loma cal. thats dyno jet not corrected. i was sold on eyeball for a few reasons strength being one of them.

q: should we discuss this ?? in lew of what happened

A: in my opinion ABSOFUKNLUTELY im sure if anything that man that was running that buggy would want others to know what happened and why and if it could be prevented. It is normal , healthy , and prudent that we discus these matters. Were fathers sons and duners i dont want to see anyone hurt. and if discussing this lets JUST ONE PERSON at minimum look at saftey issues when building or buying a buggy. and make a solid choice then we have done well.

To criticise the deceased! no way! inexcuseable . to comment on the structure of the car.Well thats just plain smart. to be concerned to ask " can it be prevented" could it have been survivable wouldnt any of you want to know ?? i do .

I believe when god says "its time" your done. and its likely the upside down drop was to much. i would like to know how far it flew.for meerly reasons of structural questions regarding saftey

i type this with respect to the departed and there family and i hope they understand its from a preventive stand point that i look at the structural issues

    regards

    Bob Cox

  17. I WAS gonna do that when I was towing Joe Duner back from the nroth pole as well, but I only made one pass close to everyone at the back of the pack of people. I just couldn't do it! We got some laughs as it was already anyhow. :dunno:

you should have that was some funny sh*t right there :blury: <<< that will teach my buddy not to be a cheap skate and use 930 axels :thumbsdown:

    meandjamesrides.jpg

the red one got paraded :finger:

  18. WAS THE CAR HOME MADE :laughoff:

i think somebody should take a pic of the actual place where they went off so others can understand it had nothing to do with booze, bad frames or things of that nature. that same spot last year a guy on a polaris almost came close to doing the exact same thing he calaimed it was an opticle illusion and it looked continues luckily he bailed out . maybe that hill needs a warning :laughoff:
