  1. Thanks Joe! It pains me greatly knowing what it cost to get it here. The car just finally got "perfect" this season. The electrical and steering were the last weak links. I spent $15k getting just those two things first class. Here is a gopro video link. Sanddunesaddict is in some footage. Miss you Bert!

  3. Love to see the pics. Keep them coming. Gonna take a while to set in. Won't be the same without meeting up with him at D.
  4. I am shedding tears. One of the best ambassadors of our sport. He is already missed. If you needed anything Bert could help with, he was always willing to give it. Prayers for Ashley and the kids... They are so young. RIP
  5. Probably by Bathroom 9. Arriving Friday night or early Sat. We'll be by ourselves so would love to hook up for some rides.
  6. I'll be out for Prez Day. Yor best bet is to look at Danny's car. That is the closest you will get to your car. There were three built together and yours and Danny's are 2 of the 3. I haven't seen Danny out all season.
  7. This is the last V8Rail to be built. The frame is 90% completed. 8. Great Pics! Congrats on the crossing the finish line! BTW, nice going all legit on the flag.... red or orange on top!
  9. Unfortunately, we can relate. We were there 4 years ago at New Years weekend. Wind was ripping. My wife woke me up at 2am saying she couldn't breathe. I quickly loaded up and we were on the road an hour later. She felt better after we got out of the area into cleaner air. After we got home, it got worse and I took her to the hospital. She was in bad shape. Had to stay the night and received extensive respiratory therapy. She's had asthma ever since. Just like your son, she got bronchitis the next day. Now, we look at the weather for wind forecast. I like intellicast.com and look at the hourly forecast. She does not sit around the camp fire (smoke). Don't stay long at comp hill or congested areas due to dust. Don't camp in congested or dusty areas... we try to camp in the rocky areas. She carries recovery inhalers, wears head socks often. Luckily, we're still able to enjoy our family hobby. Hope you find a way too!
  10. The setting for the film is circa 2100. It is not believable that the panels could power the car today, but the film implies another 100 years of innovation. Consider what has been invented in the last 100 years.
  11. We completed phase 1 two weeks ago in Glamis for 3 days. We had a super time! The crew was super to work with. I was able to take pictures, but can't post them or use them for my business until the finished product is released. Phase 2 includes running higher speeds on the dry lake bed at El Mirage shot from helicopter. The mods to my car were very minor. I mounted two solar panels to the roof. They covered up logos like King on the shocks, Momo on the steering wheel, etc. That's it. The motor is very concealed and the look worked perfect for their objective. I drove 100% of the time. They did have the actor that I doubled for start a scene sitting in my parked car, exiting, and walking away. That's the only time my butt wasn't in the driver's seat. This was the most hours I've spent in the car. The first day was over 8 hours in the car! We shoot Phase 2 right before T-day, probably on my way to Dumont for the holiday. Overall, great experience! Glad I was called.
  12. We reached an agreement. The plan is to shoot in early October. Car mods to be made at my local shop, MetalCraft Motorsports. I'll be driving the car in most of the footage. They do need to get some shots with the talent, but that will be on flat land... nothing technical. My car is an automatic... anyone (almost) can drive it without compromising the powertrain. My family is looking forward to the experience and I am able to capture my own footage for marketing purposes.
  13. Thanks for the info! It looks like we'll get something worked out. I've got some "different" (new technology) looking solar panels that will work great on the car. And some other contributions that will serve the objective too. You're right, my car does not need much for cosmetic mods. The motor is very concealed for example.
  14. I'll bite! I'm in the solar and energy business so this has me a little intrigued. Maybe I can get some marketing use as well. I'll send an email to learn more.
  15. I made the first real trip with my new car. All guys trip and my "crew chief" Scott of Metal Craft. We had a couple of electrical issues with the car... fuses popping and a POS fuse block that will get replaced immediately. The car overall did very well. Great ride and handling. I will lower the gear ratio too. Be back for T-day. Here are some pics:
  16. People either love 'em or hate 'em.... part of the appeal to me is that they are unique.
  17. Thanks Dunefreak! Here are some pics in sand trim. I just got back from Oregon tonight. It was the first trip on the car. Only issue was a frozen shifter cable. I was able to modify it and get by for the trip. Other than that, the car was flawless. I will now turn my attention to some minor things that aren't quite right and be ready for the winter. Still need to get suspension dialed in too. Looking forward to about 5-6 trips to Dumont this winter!
  18. I smell bacon..... lots and lots of bacon....
