  1. I by no means want to be someone who , but I want to give my :2cents: being that I use to work law enforcement. To me it is simple..IF they were on their own time or a break and practicing their skills, which they should do (you would want them to know how to shoot those guns if needed so they should be skilled on those bikes also) then they could have avoided any problem by 2 things 1. Not wearing the uniform 2. Having a flag (fuzzy part in the law or not). When I worked on the police department, if we had our uniform on then we were on duty and expected to act like it. I don't have a problem with them going for a joy ride or practicing their skills, but they need to follow the rules they enforce. We do need to respect them for the job they do, imagine what would happen if there wasn't any enforcement out there :drunk::crash: and :pissed:.

I always have to appreciate anyone who is willing to give their opinion on a topic such as this that tends to get a little heated at times.

  2. It's interesting that you should ask this question. I was going to post it in my observations about all the trucks attempting to dune and the many, MANY we passed by dug in so deep it was gonna take a small miracle to get them out. Heading back to camp late Sunday afternoon, we came across one right in the middle of a high traffic area apparently waiting for a flatbed. Probably left there from the night before, a tow strap still on the front end, no driver nearby and the front tires practically facing eachother. That had to hurt. :thumb:

That truck was there early Sunday, so I think it might have been left from Saturday night. I stopped to look at that one and wondered how they managed to mess it up that bad. The front tires were both turned in towards each other, so something was broken and it was dug in almost to the frame in the back. Was a nice looking truck though haha.

I also came across one stuck back on the dunes near the trail between the north and south pole, not much truck traffic out that way for someone to be kind enough to stop and help, but I guess they found a way.

I think it is just stupidity to dune those types of vehicles. :laughoff::dunno::pissed::dunno:

  3. Headed out late Friday due to issues with the drain screw on my carburetor (got that fixed today). Got my car stuck twice trying to find a place to camp in the dark, I guess Hyundai Accents don't off road very well :chat: so we camped where I was stuck which ended up being a nice spot near the rockpile and rr11. Saturday we went looking for the south pole and found the north pole :dunno:, went out again later to the north pole and followed some people to the south pole. Got to the south pole about the time everyone was meeting for the ride, but had to leave before I could meet many people or join in for the ride, due to an anti-social sister :dunno: which I am still pissed about. Later I rode Banshee Hill to practice for Comp Hill and learned that I am usually the slowest up the hill, but I learned to ride as fast as my stock bike will go :chat:. Went to Comp Hill on Saturday night, but just watched for a little while . Sunday I went back to Banshee Hill and practiced going as fast as fast can go on my bike haha sucks watching everyone pass you, but I traded bikes and won a race or 2. Then I headed over to Comp Hill and I rode Comp for my first time and had a blast :thumb:. I went back to Comp later Sunday afternoon and got stuck about 1/4th the way up (who saw me??). We rode up farther off to the right side and I guess the sand is a bit softer over there and my bike just doesn't have the power to get up it, nothing like being new to Comp and riding up the hill all excited, full throttle, loving it and then to feel your tires start spinning and the bike start to shudder and not knowing what the heck is happening, then stalling out and being dug in :shake:. Thanks to the guy who came over and pulled my bike out and turned it around for me! So I went back to the middle area and rode it a few more times, so I have begun to master Comp Hill and soon enough I will be racing to be the slowest up the hill :laughoff:. I rode up to the bowl and have to say that is quite the view. All weekend I tried to convince my fellow camp mates to stop by the DDR camp with no success (they wont let me ride alone :( and would have been pissed if I just took off) :dunno: :no_no:! So other than having anti-social :blury: fellow campers  , I had a great weekend. :idiot:

  4. Can you get to the head of the screw with some vise grips? Go to bike bandit and order the screw. I just looked on bikebandit for an 06 bowl drain screw and you should be able to buy a set of needle nose vise grips and get it out, then order a new one. I have had to do this on a raptor bowl screw, if you can replace it with an allen head instead of those crap factory screws.

    www.bikebandit.com

I got the problem solved, I am going to check out that site for future reference. None of the shops in town had replacement parts for a 2007, so one ordered the screw from the factory. Thanks for the info. :D

  5. Thanks guys, we got some vice grip pliers and got the screw out. I ordered a new screw from a local shop for $2 :D. I asked them about an allen head screw, but they said they didn't have any for that bike. I just can't believe that the shop I bought it from tried giving us such a hard time about it and the other shop worked on it for free (don't think I should mention the names, cause I don't want to piss anyone off). The gas ran into the air box, so I am in the process of cleaning and oiling the air filter, but other than that we have fixed it all. Much appreciation. :dunno:

  6. Just got my new bike back from Dumont and I have a problem, the head of the screw to drain the carburetor is stripped and I cant get the screw out, so I cant drain the carburetor. We had to haul the bike standing and I dont know if that is now going to cause a problem :dunno: The shop wanted about $80 to get the screw out, but then they said they dont have a replacement :dunno:. So any suggestions on getting that screw out without removing the entire carburetor and where can I get a replacement? (it is on a 2007 Suzuki z400 if that matters) Much thanks and appreciation. :beercheers:

  7. You think you will be the only people in a tent, but I can promise you wont be. lol There will actually be quite a few im sure!! :thumb:

Thanks! I admit it can be embarrassing when everyone has such nice toys and we have the little tent, but I am new to the scene and am just happy to be a part of it! :laughoff:

Any single men with nice toys to share around here? :crash::DDRrocks:

  8. I am leaving tomorrow morning. I have plenty of room. If the tent gets to sandy or cold, I have two extra beds in the hauler right now and you are welcome to them.

Much appreciated, but there are 3 of us and 2 doggies, so I dont like to intrude on other peoples property much. Keep an eye out for me and introduce yourself, I see we are Vegas peeps and you have the same job as me haha hope to find you and chat. :thumb:

  9. :finger: I am so excited. I can't leave till tomorrow evening due to my sister having to work, but I am so ready to be there! I hope I can meet some of you guys, if you see me then please stop and say HI and I will be doing the same. We will be easy to find, we are like the only people in a tent :laughoff:. See you all soon, but not soon enough. :ban-split:
  10. You should be good with the NV OHV sticker. This topic was discussing the Cali Non-resident sticker. You can buy it if you like, but according to what you already stated:

It seems as though you fit into the "registered in your home state" clause.

:D That is what I was trying to confirm, I am a Cali Non-Resident. The dealer hadn't given me the registration sticker when I bought it, so I just sent someone down to pick it up for me. Looks like I am good to ride in Dumont! Sorry for the confusion, you have been very helpful. :bump:

  11. You should read through this thread, so that you know which sticker you're looking for. It's not the sticker that they are talking about here.

    Click me for more information!

    It's all a part of SB400....<<<<CLICK HERE FOR DETAILS>>>> I thought I mentioned this a while back....but couldn't find the topic.

They are supposed to be issued at no cost....that's zero, nada, zilch....when you purchase your bike from an authorized dealer. According to what I read they are also supposed to issue one to anyone that can prove they've paid taxes on any off road vehicle. When we got the new bike I asked for another for the Blaster. I had to ask more than 3 or 4 times before they coughed them up. If you go into the Yamaha dealer on Craig they have a big sign about SB400, but no mention of the sticker. Since I read the bill a few months ago I was already prepared to ask for the sticker. :bump: No more $20 yearly sticker for Dumont!!!! It's a really simple looking sticker with a S/N and a couple of words like "Nevada Off Highway Vehicle". No year for expiration...nothing. I'll post a pic later tonight.

I really need one for the rail also....I have all my receipts for every part on that thing. I'm just not sure how that'll go over.

Now I am really confused :mc_smiley: . I am trying to get the proper stuff to ride in Dumont. I thought I had to have a NV registration sticker . My NV registration sticker is being picked up now (from the store on Craig) and I can buy the Non-Resident yearly sticker when I get to Dumont if needed, but what I got from this post was I didnt need a Non-Resident sticker since I paid taxes through the dealer for NV registration. :dunno: Sorry if I posted in the wrong thread, I read both of the topics and was still confused, just want to have the proper stuff and the info page says "If you are not a resident of California and your OHV is not registered in your home state, you are required to have a California "Nonresident" OHV permit (available at the fee station) to legally operate your vehicle. Stickers are $20 each".

So basically I thought I just needed my NV registration sticker...?
