  1. I am going to try and make it out there. My 06 YFZ hasn't touched the sand yet. I have been in Houston since the beginning of January on business  and I need some Cali sun and sand. I am flying back in on the 31st. I haven't met anyone from this site yet so maybe we can meet up and go on some rides.

Hey everyone, I'm a huge fan of the Ultimate Fighting Championship, have been since the beginning. Is there any other fans out there? If so, what are your thoughts on the upcoming fight on February 4, 2006 between Champ Chuck Liddell vs. Randy Couture? Who's going to win and why?

I got Liddell. You don't know how crazy that guy is until you seem him kick the crap out of someone live.

    :D

  3. Also dont forget in 05 or 06 the cam mod is already done for you so dont go tearin apart the head until you double check...

and those half moon retainers are a BIATCH if you drop em in the bottom of the case..

It isn't done on the 06s. I just did mine over the weekend. The local shop said they do not come with the yz timing. Also Dirt Wheels had an article in it the last issue that shows you step by step on an 06.

  4. What mods do you have done your bike now?

I have a pipe and K&N on mine and was going to get into the carb to see what the guy did to it before I bought it and I just want to make sure I get the right jets before I take it apart. Next will be the cam mod.

BEWARE!!!! I am sure if you have looked into how to do the cam mod or if you have done it before, you already know about the little half moon shaped circlips. These things can be very tricky. I had one fall off and land right underneath the cam, another 1/4 of an inch and it would have been in the bottom of my motor. :headbang: Make sure not to leave any open gaps leading down into your motor. Plug it up with some rags!!!! :skeet: :thumb::thumb::thumb:

  5. To anybody with any jetting suggestions. Just got my 06 450 a week ago. I have the ESR airbox eliminator kit, Curtis Sparks full exhaust, and the cam mod done. I am running a 45 pilot, 170 main, and 4th clip on the NCVQ needle with 2 1/2 turns out on the fuel screw and 100 octane. My next trip out to Dumont will be on the 7th. Just wondering if anyone thinks this will be close to Dumont standards. I have read that the 06s come leaner than the 04s and 05s. Just want to get close before heading out.

  6. it seems like those bolts at the starter gear are a common problem on the 06 i have seen many postings on different sites about the exact same problem. twist throttles? i have read articles and talked to different shops for a year now and the only safe way from what i read and was told is going with the factory yamaha twist. about a $120.00 in parts at yamaha plus you need to buy the special tap 12mm x 1.00. or watch ebay for yamaha twist throttles i just paid $25.00 for a new unused yz assembly. by safe i mean because of the throttle shutdown that you disable when using anybody elses twist throttle if your bike goes wide open guess what BOOOOOOM  . atv scene did an article on kory ellis's race bike and about half way down they go into detail about why and how the fcr carb works www.atvscene.com/evaluations/project-ellis-yfz-03.htm i am in no way saying i am an expert on this just what i found in researching what i wanted to do hope it helps.

Thanks for the info on the twist throttle. Don't want my motor blowing. I am going to start looking for the dirtbike throttle. All I have ever had on my quads are twist throttles but the thumb will do for now.

  7. Just bought my 2006 yfz450 on Saturday night. :laughoff: Rode it on Sunday and had 5 out of the 7 bolts holding the left cover on fall out :shocked2: and had oil all over everything. Also found 2 bolts loose behind the starter idler gear  It was an easy fix but am going to call the dealer and see if they want me to bring it in. Hopefully no dirt or anything got in. A lot to spend on a bike and have something as stupid as bolts falling out on the first ride!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Other than these 2 set backs the bike was fast as hell and ran awesome! Does anyone no about a twist throttle for the new 06? Checked on the internet but nothing. Dirt Wheels talked about drilling and tapping the carb for the dirt bike throttle, but would like something a little easier.

  8. JUST WANTED TO SAY THAT THIS PAST WEEKEND WAS MY FIRST TIME AT DUMONT AND IT WAS AWESOME!! THE ONLY OTHER DUNES I HAVE BEEN TO ARE AT GLAMIS AND I WILL SAY THAT I WILL NOT BE BACK TO GLAMIS FOR A WHILE. DUMONT IS AN HOUR + CLOSER AND THE DUNES RULE. :mc_smiley:
