  1. I have a few parts left over from my buggy that I would like to give away to a good home. Hopefully someone can use them. 1 brand new CV 1 brand new boot 1 set of brand new axles (I think they 19") 1 used/spare axle with cvs. I kept it in the trailer in case of breakdowns. If anyone wouldl ike to have any of this stuff please call 702 622 5701 Brian located in Henderson
  2. I told my my wife and kids last night about your son and we had your family in our thoughts the rest of the night. As soon as I read this I called my wife and told her your good news. She cried right away. We have a big soft spot in our hearts for all children (six of our own). I hope everything turns out great and a speedy recovery. BHuff
  3. OOPs I am in Henderson NV, But I go to California (Tulare) about every other month for Family stuff. Plus there is a truck in San Diego I have been looking to buy so I can meet up if needed 702-622-5701
  4. This quad has been sitting about 4 years and doesn't get ridden. I cleaned out the carb and put a battery in it and it started right up. The carb will need to be cleaned again probably since it isn't running perfect. It has plenty of power just doesn't idle right. I also have an extra set of plastics(white) and another seat. NO TRADES $1300 622-5701 Sorry, but I can't seem to figure out how to attach pictures

    Sand Show

going down Thursday night for a fishing trip on Friday then the show on Saturday
  7. We went out Saturday night about 8pm, slept under the stars on the flatbed trailer and rode Sunday morning til about 11am then packe dup and came home. There was two other camps there and a few daytrippers shoed up on Sunday morning. The sand was really smooth abviousley and really steep dropoffs not to mention alot of witches eyes. But a good time none the less. We will probably make our next trip the week before Halloween since I don't like to be out there on the big weekends.
  8. if the door was locked then you would be out your stuff and a broken window. Our truck was stolen in November and recovered in December. Of course recovered without our dumont pass, so I feel your pain and had to buy another one. Sux but I am not taking the next few months off from Dumont.
  9. When it broke I was thinking the same thing......there isn't anybody out here. And holy cow that would have been a really long walk back to camp hahaha. Time to upgrade to 930cv and shafts tho
  10. I was at Dumont yesterday and we broke down about 1:30 pm in a bowl with our 4 seater buggy (broken axle) and I was able to flag down a couple of 2 seater buggy's and hitched a ride back but that meant leaving 3 of my kids (15, 12,10) sitting in the buggy till I made it back which really sucked. So we went back to camp and grabbed the 2 straps we had, a truck (lifted dodge diesel on 37s) and a couple quads just for easy access in and out of the dunes just in case. When we got back to the kids a couple of buggys were sitting there with the kids and offered to help if they could. We came up with the plan to get the truck as close as we could which was way up the side of the dune, and run straps to the buggy but we didnt have near enough strap, so they jammed back to their camp and came back with plenty of strap. Once everything was pointing downhill we were able to get out easily. So that is the story..... but the reason for the thread is because in all the hustle and hurry I don't feel I gave enough thanks to the guys that helped. Hopefully all 4 of the buggies that helped yesterday are on here and will be able to know we REALLY appreciated the help. The first 2 buggies we flagged down for the ride back to camp, 1 red and 1 blue but both looked like motorcyle powered cars. Thanks for the ride. The second 2 buggies that stuck around with the kids and went to get straps. Thank you guys, it would have been alot worse if we didnt have those straps. Dumont folks are always awesome people. We always stop and check on people also so It sucks we were the ones in need this time but thankfully we had some good people out there willing to lend a hand. We live in Henderson and I know the second two guys were from the Vegas area but didnt ask the first two( and I can't believe I didnt get anybodys name) but If you guys need anything or even just a case of beer I would like to return the favor. I will post pictures when the wife e-mails them to me. Brian Huff
  11. I will not be out for Halloween. We usually only go on slow weekends. I have to many kids to keep an eye on for the busy weekends and we typically don't have a very big camp. Our next trip will be the weekend after Thanksgiving probably. I was going to take it down to Nevada Offroad Buggy to have them take a look unless someone has a better idea.
  12. I had a couple extra cv that came with the buggy when I bought it so I don't know what they are. How do you tell the difference? I replced the shafts with sway-away shafts but have not bought a cv yet. I would much rather upgrade than have to reduce travel. the buggy runs and dunes great just havent had much luck with the cv's. I dont have my foot in the gas when landing from a jump but I do have my foot in the gas going over whoops(like everybody else I assume)
  13. I have been having a problem with breaking CV joints on my buggy and would like to see if you guys have any advice to offer. I have attached a picture of my buggy and it has an 091 trans with a 4.3l chevy v6. It does not have a ton of power so I think this is happening because I don't have limiting straps. The three times I have broke a CV were: twice going up comp blasting through the whoops and then pop and once trying to do a wheelie off of a small hill. Is there an angle at full droop that I should be aware of? Or do I just need to upgrade my shafts and joints? Thank for any advice
  14. How does trick or treating work for the kids on Halloween? Before or after dark???? This will be our first Halloween trip
  15. If we had to start getting inspections on sandrails, quads, etc that would open another can of worms. This is an offroad recreation for most of us and I do agree that safety is a very big concern, however if we left it up to an organization to determine what is safe or isn't then most people would not pass. I feel that it is the owners responsibility to make sure whatever they have is safe and in good working order, I also believe that alot of people would not recognize if they bought a new toy wouldn't know if it was safe. Last year I was at a practice track on my quad and there was a business there offering to do a suspension and safety check for free(obviously trying to drum up business). I think that is a great idea. I think people would respond that pretty well. I also think alot of people will not take well to being told something could be better on their favorite toy. So if anyone would like to put together some type of free safety check and needs volunteers I am in. I would help out for anything along theses lines. The other concerns that have been brought(camp racers etc), I have followed people and talked to them and it has went good a few times and not so good other times, but that is how I will continue to deal with it.
  16. to be prepared is good advice, thanks. However(and I might be talking out my arse) where do you take the class to get certified? Usually this type of thing is in a parking lot or flats and my kids are way past that type of riding. I have 6 kids and 4 of them have been riding for a few years now. I have no problem putting them through a certification class. I just think it should be held at the area you intend to ride at. But I haven't even looked into getting the certs so maybe there is a class at Dumont and then I will shut up and put the kids through it.
  17. We have a pretty good sized group of about 15 that go to Dumont about once a month and all of our kids are constantly supervised and we go on follow the leader rides, etc. I figure this is one of those laws that would be enforced only when needed(like unsupervised or kids being wreckless) but just wanted to check. I was told that last weekend the rangers were enforcing the age limit and visitig camps. However from all of the trip reports nobody has made mention of this. It sounds like everyone had a good weekend with the exception of some rain. Unfortunatley we can't make it out until late Saturday or you could bet I would have volunteered for the poker run, especially since that was the main reason we planned to go this weekend but can't make it out early enough.
  18. Just curious if after the first busy weekend at dumont if the LEO's were hassling people about the kids riding and safety certificates? Our first trip is this weekend and just curious if this an issue. I just cant see a 14 year old kid riding a 90cc quad, which is from what I understand the law. We love going to Dumont but if the kids cant ride it wouldn't be much fun.
  19. We were at Dumont all weekend and Sunday night a young mna rode into our camp after the sun went down asking if we had seen a little boy who had wandered off from camp on foot. Just wondering if anyone else heard anything? His camp was near bathroom 6. Also there were paramedics rolling in as we left on Monday so someone must have been hurt but do not know anything about that either.
  20. We go out the night before. Its great to sleep on the flatbed trailer and go riding at 5am and on our way home by 10am. We only bring the toyhauler out for the long weekend trips. But I think the quick trips are just as much fun. We are going this Friday to Saturday by the way
  21. I was wondering if anyone was going also. But I don't see any rain in the forecast for Dumont????? I am going out with my kids Friday night and coming back Saturday afternoon before its to hot. I saw the write up on the front page about going north but don't know if it is expected to be busy at Dumont.
  22. I am going this weekend (12/29) to check it out and see how everthing works. They don't have a race schedule posted so I want to see when the quads will be running.
  23. superdave Posted Yesterday, 08:53 PM ah, duh. because the fingers are for riding too. i have had little ones and have a little grandkid now. talk about keeping the little ones safe, then camp away from the sh*t! jesus christ! its not a damn playground for kids. people actually love to ride the fingers without having to run into kids. jesus f*ckin christ! Does camping away from the fingers really help.. alot of the duners on hear are complaining about people going to fast near their camps on the flats, almost getting run over, dust, near collisions, etc. So because I choose to camp near the fingers (like alot of other people do) it is wrong to let people know there is a camp on the other side? Now don't get me wrong I have already agreed that cones and no type of stake is the right choice and I will follow along with that, but to say put nothing on the finger to identify a camp directly on the other side is silly. And by the way I don't block the finger so that it is not able to be ridden on. The path on the top of the finger is still useable. It is the same idea as having a spotter if you are going to be jumping a dune. You would use a spotter right????? Also my kids are supervised since I know that is what will be coming next, but you cannot supervise other people barreling into somebody or your camp. We have been fortunate to not have any real accidents out there and hopefully none to come in the future. I just hope everyone finds a way to keep safe.
  24. sMitty Posted Yesterday, 07:40 PM extreme scenario?...maybe, but my family is not worth the risk...... But isn't that the point....everyone is at risk now. I have a large family (six kids) and if the people who care about the dunes give way to the people who are shredding this sport then we will all be looking for somewhere else to ride rather than protecting the dunes that we all like to go to. The intention of making it known that we will stand together as a community is to put more eyes on everyones families, camps, etc. If I have my camp set up and you are pulling in and see that we have the a flag on our bikes or camp that you are running because you want to the support the dunes also wouldn't you camp there. So as this gets bigger we are all on common grounds and through word of mouth more and more duners would get on board and eventually the numbers could get big enough that someone would always be watching. I feel that by getting more people involved it is safer for my family. And at the same time if I know you are going to protect the area just the same as I will by supporting something as simple as a flag I would be that much more willing to come to your aid. But if you don't know anything about somebody you may be a little tentative to approach. So just think of it as an identifier not much different than the DDR stickers you see on trucks.
  25. There has been mention of not knowing who would attack you in a crowd that size but I don't think the majority of the duners fit into that category. By that I mean how many of us would come to a LEO's aid if he was to get into an altercation with a retard at the dunes. Also talking about patrols and reporting to the LEO's. But why does this need to be a secret. In the thread about the guys burning their trash everyone is applauding the efforts of the camp who turned them in and I am sure those guys weren't very concerned about the trash burners finding out it was them who turned them in. So why not get a company to make flags that would identify people as friends of the LEO's. If there were thousands of duners displaying flags that basically represent people who are not willing to put up with all this bullcrap that we are currently upset with then maybe thats a start. How many people do you think would do stupid stuff if they knew the majority of the duners present were unitied and not willing to tolerate it. And alot of times a simple ....Hey guys you may not know the rules so I am here to let you know.... would work just fine. I would sign up for a program like this or even a different pro active version anyday.
