  1. Sweet! Then both of you will be ready for a day trip in two weeks then! :headbang1:

All I can really say is that this was exactly what I needed. I have not camped at Dumont in well over a year and this little kick off was perfect. We learned a very good rule for camping at Dumont and that is wake up and hit the dunes before you do anything else. Don't make breakfast, don't shower, don't do anything except get your butt on your bike and go ride. It's just what you need to get your day started.

I rarely party like I did on Saturday and from what I remember... I had fun!! Nighttime shenanigans by the camp fire finished off the weekend pretty well for me and water is the key to survive any hangover!!

I'm so glad the season has finally started and I'm looking forward to lots of riding this season.

It's the only way to get your day started. ;)

  2. Where is this? The reason I ask is that this aircraft and enviroment look familier - I'm in Herat, Afghanistan...

Here's a few pics from my job in the desert. Crappy quality, hanging it out the window doing driveby's, but cool none the less. My christmas present( DSLR CAMERA ) is suppose to arrive monday. Maybe I'll get some better ones with that :thumb:

  3. And how does that suck in any way?

Shoot, on second though I don't know if this Sunday is gonna for me. I got alot going on and going to bed early Sat night doesn't seem to work with my plans. :dunno:

    COME ON!!!!!!!!!

  4. How many people are running race radios in their buggy’s. I know they use them quite a bit in Glamis. Curious how much they are used in Dumont.

Couple weekends ago a buddy of mine and I used them to talk buggy to buggy. He has one in his trailer and we talked from the north pole back to camp area no problem. It was really clear and can connect anywhere in Dumont.

I started thinking that they could be quite useful if you needed to call back to camp for a tow or tools or even an emergency situation.

Does anyone use them? What frequency do you run? Is there an emergency frequency people monitor? I thought I would ask the Leo’s at Thanksgiving if they monitor any of those frequency’s also.

I have been told the base station setups in the trailers will go 40 plus miles.

They only work very well if they are setup correctly. I have an ICOM in my truck and a small handheld for my quad. I had a radio person walk me through proper antenna tuning and it works really good - I can easly hear weatherman to my house from both north and south. Dont buy into the big long antenna BS - My antenna is 16" with the proper mounting and blows away the guys with whips flapping around without the proper mounting. Also with the correct setup you can achive better results with 5w then a guy with a poor setup @ 50w. I have the frequencys if needed - they are usually assigned by PCI for racing, but the BLM has a frequency also if you need it. If you have the ICOM they are also easily programmed with the software/cable...

  5. I'm just wondering if there is anywhere in the desert around Vegas where it is legal to target practice with your guns? :MBdance: Hopefully someone here in the know can post up what the laws are. Thanks

There is a map on the Clark County site that shows legal areas. Boulder City has a real nice public range also...

  6. I am suspecting that light might be the problem. I am lookng into seeing how much that part is and if its cheap I will buy one and see if that fixes the problem.

I too thought you need atleast 14 volts for a charge. But since day one of me owning this motorhome that light has never come on. I just dealt with the generator or the alternator charging them. But it would be nice if the solar worked properly too.

They are pretty cheap - and I would get one larger in amps then you need, so you can add panels at a later date if you want.

  7. Yes, I have a single battery to start the motorhome and 2 6 volts to run the lights and start the motorhome if needed via a toggle switch I hold down to transfer power.

If I turn the switch off I lose all power to the motorhome. I am assuming this is for long term storage as to not drain the batteries.

And the 21 volt reading I was getting was at the solar panel itself, somewhere along the lines it is being regulated down to 12-13 volts and I just cant find that yet. I am beginning to think I am looking to much into this and just need to trace the wires from the roof and see where they are leading to. But thats kinda hard to do alone and I don't have 50 feet of wire to do continuity tests with my meter.

I just checked another thing. There is a light in the air conditioning unit that has charging indicator if being used. I checked the in voltage and it was 22 volts and the out voltage was 12.2. So I found the regulator. My batteries at the current state show 12.30 volts so as it sits now it won't draw on the solar. I am going to disconnect the house batteries and jump the connectors over to the engine battery since I know it is dead and see if that triggers the solar to work. I am thinking it might have been a bad connection somewhere and with me investigating everything I just put it back together and made a better connection.

Thanks for the input so far guys I appreciate it.

Is that the issue - 12.2volts is not enough to charge the battery - I always thought it takes at least 13.2-14.4 volts for a charge...
