Help wanted or just share some wisdom with a newbie. Bought a 2180 mid engine 2 seater rail took it to Dumont for Haloween and blew a hole in the head, right next to the sparkplug hole and one by the exhaust valve. It has dual carbs and ran great till the head blew out. Looking to get new heads probally form doghouse but need to know what to get. Price has to stay below 750.00 for the set. Not sure what to get so many options out there. So what I am hoping is that some of the wonderful and experianced people on here can help me out with some idea of which ones to get. Been building quads and jeeps for years just never had a rail before.
Thanks in advance,
Billy
just ask doghouse or do they not do that....just want too sell ya stuff....I would think they would know

No prob anytime......r u in vegas?
yes i am.........nw

Yes they all have a oil pumps. They all tend to run hot. It's an air cooled engine. If you have the head and cylinder off the motor, my advice to you is install the high flow oil pump with an external oli cooler. The high flow oil pump will increase flow by something like 300%. You only can do the oil pump upgrade with the cylinder off the motor. You will need to drill the oil passege as part of the install.......my 2 cents..........
so im guessing that the discoloration is normal......think im just going to keep stock....just the kids going to putt around in........thanks

Is this a stock 70 or Lifan.
stock 70 1985 thanks

Might help to state What motor you are talking about.
i just thought it was sort of obvious since it was on the honda 70 talk, but maybe not...it was at least in my head..lol
-
long story short...took my 1985 honda 70 head and cylinder to my friends shop for a rebuild...he noticed that the rockers and cam were a little discolord and thought they my be getting starved of oil...At that time he wasnt sure if the motor had a oil pump or not....my theory is maybe the previous owner ran with low oil and it got a little hot??? just dont want to crack the case again to check the oil pump tolerances....have you guys ever heard of oil pump failures in these motors????? Im ready to put the cylinder in and the piston and get it running....just wanted to know if someone has noticed this also....thanks andre

Yea pretty easy. Just loosen that wing not all the way out and should slide out. Spray wd40 first
nice... thanks for the input....

just a question...i would really like to change my break cable on my 85....just seemed to be very pain in the azz to change out from the back of the frame....just no room to put your hands in....is it easy?????thanks for any reply....andre

Like Pete said the grease needs to be the real tacky red stuff.
they also have a new slip yoke that helps but it still ends up coiming back.
if it comes back then i will keep doing mine....thanks
-
Well as long as you cleaned out the splines well and greased it with some decent stuff, I don't know what else to tell ya.
cool..maybe i will try it again if it gets too anoying...thanks alot again...later
-
Not familiar with that grease. Was it a very tacky/ thick grease?
i would say so, and there is non leaking from the shaft, last time i checked and changed the oil...so i know it is not spining out of there.....should i re-grease it again????? but i think it will do the same after a while???
-
Well, what kind of grease did you use?
bacon grease of course.....i used mobel 1 synthetic red grease........did i f/u......lol
