  1. :black: I"m with Randog - street riding is one thing, not too many jumps or hills to climb up or shoot down. It's happened to me and several friends with twist throttles, all it takes is one time of grabbing to hold on - natural reaction, and youve likely opened up not wanting too....

Personal choice, rode many a dirt bike with twist, and maybe its just getting older now, but if I :ah: myself out there, and grab to hold on, it's likely not going to increase my speed or impact with the ground, so all of my toys are thumb throttles

I just dont know that I can become a professional post whore :blah: , but hey it gives me something to shoot for :blah::blah::laughing:

  3. Does anyone know how to get to the Skywalk on the indian reservation? It doesn't seem to far from Temple Bar but I can't locate it on mapquest.

    Tim -

On the West Rim of the Canyon, and its a big time drive from Temple Bar. We went right after it opened, and it's not worth the effort, the Indians got this thing all wrapped up, and it will basicly cost $25 to get into the reservation, $20 for parking, and then I belive its $25 per to get on the sky walk. "Which oh by the way - no cameras, or videos" Here a WEB-SITE that we found after we went.....pretty much as it is.

  4. :beercheers: Hey Bob - I agree, if we have serious issues, I want a guy who actually knows what the military is all about, and knows the players. If the Obama team gets elected, were all going to scream when those tax cuts which we've all enjoyed, are the first thing to hit the street...... The second issue is look at whom the Greenie's Hang With......I believe that it's Boxer and Fienstien who are the main drivers here for all of the "Greenie's" who are driven to shut us down on Pismo and Dumont as well as many others.....So if you think our position on keeping these A$$hole groups out of our riding areas are bad now, put one of them in office and see how much more our issues fall to deaf ears......

  5. Mike-

How do I find Sandy Point from Temple Bar?

    Tim -

    36° 6'48.62"N

    114° 6'4.22"W

Go to Google Earth type in these Coordinates and it will take you to Sandy Point. The house boat people will also be able to give you a map of it as well. So as your leaving the Temple Bar Marina, you want to turn right going up stream. The best spots used to be on the far side of Sandy Point, but with the water levels it could have changed. Your only about 20 minutes via Jet Ski or Boat from Temple Bar, but it will take you a few hours in the house boat to get there. Let me know if you need any additional info.

  6. :dunno: Tim -

Just got off the water an hour ago, and it's getting cooler by the day, high was 84 today and water was at 78, down from 81 last week. Lake level is up by 8 inches from last week too....Have fun, you'll like Temple Bar big time, Sandy Point is a great place to tie-off on the house boat and run up to the Grand Canyon entrance with the jet ski's. The place should be vacant this time of year up there. Have fun be safe......

  7. For those of you considering retirement.

    • If you had purchased $1,000.00 of Delta Air Lines stock one year ago you
      would have $49.00 left.
    • With Enron, you would have had $16.50 left of the original $1,000.00.
    • With WorldCom, you would have had less than $5.00 left.
    • But, if you had purchased $1,000.00 worth of beer, one year ago, drankall of the beer, and then turned in the cans for the aluminum recycling REFUND, you would have had $214.00.

Based on the above, the best current investment advice is to drink heavily

    and recycle.

    It's called the 401-Keg Plan

  8. :headbang1: Actually they do that at Pismo all the time and not having to move once your setup was excellent. $30 for pumping both tanks and for an extra $5, they push chem back in, $.50 a gallon for water, and $7 a gallon for Propane, Firewood was $6 a bundle and Ice was $8 for a 20lb bag. They make runs everyday at least 3 times per day. The guy said he started with one beater truck and pump, and in two summers, he's now got 5 trucks, keeps most of them busy, but he also hits all of the State and County RV Parks as well. You'd almost have to be in the "Pumping Business" and bring some extra holding tank, park it and make the rounds on the busy weekends. I'm sure thare is enough business to keep one truck busy for a weekend, but dont know that you'd be able to live off of just Dumont.....

  9. WARNING...SOCIAL COMMENTARY AHEAD...ALONG WITH DUNING COMMUNITY CRITICISM...WARNING

one thing that really got me down this year at the show was the blatant anti-family values groups that were at the show. yes, i may be acting petty here, but i have to point it out, because, in the final analysis, these things kill us in the public perception realm

what i realized at this show was that we are killing ourselves, or allowing the bad influences to exist, to a certain extent, that continually injure us and our sport in the perception of what we do that is portrayed upon the public.

This show would have been a cornucopa of material to aide in our adversaries quest to shut down more riding areas...just a few glaring examples......

on one large flatscreen in front of a building was playing a compilation of crashes, sandcar, quad, sxs and dune vehicle crashes...some ugly, lots of foul language, with women at the booth with a large number of "bolt ons" and "re racks" in clothing highly suggestive of a girls gone wild video, or a porn shoot in copper canyon. it seemed that this large group of peeps gathered around this big screen were worshipping the demise of our sport....eweeing and ahhhing at the crashes, while drinking up 7 dollar beers with basically strippers pimping their aftermarket accessories...... no way would i have taken string cheese to this show due to the graphic nature of oversexualization that seemed to permiate this venue.

a few booths seemed to continue this trend, but one was just waaaaay over the top....BIG TITTY CREW. complete with shirts and stickers, one couldnt help but notice their booth. yeah, it get it that testosterone drives our sport, and that the cutting edge guys of our sport drive this kind of behavior, but again, it is far from a family atmosphere, which we try to push, expecially with our backs against the wall continually fighting against the CBD and Sierra club.

i find it oxymoronic that some of us take time out of our lives to go to meetings in an attempt become informed and diligently do all we can to keep our riding areas open, yet seeing all the bullshit that reverses all we do in that attempt undone, at least in the public eye, at an event of this magnitude. i wouldnt be the least bit surprised if vido footage or pics of this event, shot by our adversaries, winds up in the media somewhere, being used against us.

a quote, which is still ringing in my ear, was made by a high up person in one of the off-road coalitions to me....."look all around you....this would be a media frenzy of negative attention to our sports......we do it to ourselves...." :laughoff:

this show proved to me that we, as off-roaders, are nowhere near being on the same page as far as cohesiveness needed to fight off the groups and movements attempting to shut down our riding areas.

    GREAT SHOW.............................................BAD MESSAGE

    Well said Cheese,

I agree with you, that perception is 90% of what the public takes back with them. This same type of gathering for the CBD or Sierra would still had $7 Beers, but also Program Propaganda to the max. So instead of showing Wrecks and Accidents for amusement, it would have also inlcuded how dangerous and destructive our sport is to each other, our families and of course Mother Nature....

Yeah, your on the point here my friend, the oppertunity to show the public how important it is to save the open riding areas and what damage to our freedom gorups like CBD and Sierra have done in just the last 5 years, would have been a much better venue, and like you and BB, family interface to the show would have been difficult. Thanks for the stand-up - sometimes it takes this for peeps to see the issues.

  10. Go to Warriorlifestylesrvstore.com They just opened up in Perris Ca. They are a Warrior repair facility. They even might do some Warrior warranty work ??????

The guy who owns Warriorlifestyle was one of the General Managers for Warrior who bought out the operating stock of parts and is now selling them. No Warranty work here only parts for late models. One of the now unemployeed VP is a friend of ours, and he got let go 2 months before the company crashed, but said that the owner of Warriorlifestyle is looking to sell as much as he can of this stock.

  11. :beerbong: Paul, Dude I owe you a case of cool ones... :driver: I went back tonight after work, and had to get a new diode, the other one got pulled in half, but I went down the line, replaced one of the 7.5 fuses and double wired it to a break-away connector, so the next time I pull a stupid stunt, I might survive it. Anyway, took about 45 minutes, pulled it in and it all works well. The yellow wire got me, as I had heard it was what charged my Batt's. But everything turned out great. Thanks for the help, and next outting, I'll have that case for you for sure. Camp World did tell me that for $75 that would have done it. But after reading your note, It looked do-able for sure. Now were loading up the hauler and getting ready to hit Pismo on Saturday morning.

Hey Cheese - were meeting friends up on the hill at Indian Hills Camp Friday night, so we wont be hitting the crib in Bako this weekend, but sure do appreicate the offers...look forward to seeing you guys in Oct in DD.

    :6pak: Thanks, SP2 Mike

  12. OH SNAP!

    7 pin wiring diagram

if you only have three....thats only 6 different combinations.....get started on it

i hope the above link can help

:whoop: Thanks Jason, the issue is that it's the internal wiring of the trailer where it connects to that diagram cable. The colors are different, and there wired into a 2 gang electrical box with termination points and fuses that have no identity. :DDRrocks::lol::thumb: Hey when I :shake: I do a good job......

  13. Thanks guys - it's the cable that comes out of the trailer. But it seems to have all terminated into a 2-gang elec box behind the king pin box. I can match 4 of the original terminations but I've got three that I have no flip'n idea. There's also a 3 terminal fuse box that's inline as well, of which two of the wires are broken off there, but the third is missing altogether. Camp World in Henderson is about 6 miles from the house, I'll see about calling them in the am.

  14. :DDRrocks: Well, I finally got myself in a position that I need help big time and quickly. While backing up to the hauler (5th Wheel), I backed under the king pin, and suprise, when I went to hook up the safety cable for the brakes, and my electrical cable, the electrical was missing from the trailer. It seems that while I was backing up, somehow it got caught, and pulled, the cable from out of the elec box behind the 5th wheel, and I ended up with *&^@!#$&( WIRES......some of them I can trace back, but I've got three that I have no way to know where in that elec box they were connected. I'm supppose to be leaving Friday, but this could be a set back.....anyone out there know anything about this.
