We've been going to Dumont for close to 40 years now and usually camp in the canyon towing a 5th wheel with a 4x4. This year will be our first year in a Class A motor home up on top. Any tips on not getting this beast stuck?
Momentum and if you are towing a 2 or 3 axle trailer do not turn too sharp.

Almost looked at this car on a recent trip to Prescott, Nice ride

Welcome to Ca. My family loves Death Valley, what brought you there as not many people live there? Watch the site, there are people heading out to Dumont just about every weekend. NY weekend it will be fairly busy. It may be cold but considering where you moved from it's teeshirt weather .

I'll send Brian over

My buddy had one, it was a 3 speed, definitely not made to hold up to a v8 and parts are very scarce these days. I'd pass for sure.

Cool Vid, Thanks

Thats a nice 7.3 . Its a long drive for you but this guy is a guru on that trans, he can change it out while you wait .

Id say if you are going to spend much time in the sand at all the turbo is worth it. That being said a turbo is certainly not a must to dune. I have a xp900 and the kids can drive it anywhere out in the dunes though they prefer the X3 RS Turbo or their quads.

I usually see TH400s or powerglides. most of the TH400s are in cars running primarily hardpack. Some of the BIG horsepower guys run a manual trans with a torque converter.

Perfect set up IMO. Hmm....

That sounds like much less investment than I would be into this.

Thought it was yours as well. Lot of money for a 13 year old car but I am still tempted by it daily(-=

Cool pics, my dream rig is a Moho built on a Unimog Chassis. Camp just about anywhere in those rigs

Clean ride! GLWTS

Probably charging batts, those lithium ion batts are impressive when they go.

If you are an aggressive driver and don't do any slow, rock crawling or technical driving then they are good. The power band is just WAY up in the rpm range.

Great to see all the pics of the future generations of duners! Kids are off at college now, only guarantee I have of seeing them is to tell them we are camping at Glamis or Dumont. Brought back some memories, Thanks

This one was a lot of work.. Annual trip to Little Dunes. Finally made the hike to the top of the highest mountain above the little dunes.
