  1. You never know what you'll do until the situation is happening to you...even though you might think you know what you'll do. I've had a knife to my throat over a fuel card(truckstop)... I became quite passive. :laughoff: He was later arrested, from surveillance footage, and I'm still breathin! :finger:

In the house, I got the sawed off 12 ga. close by too, with 5 in the tube full of birdshot to nick 'em, and 6 00buck in the tactical clip, to send 'em to their maker; but in spite of this, the best thing I've done, was buying the surveillance system/dvr. I got a camera above the front door, with a monitor in the hallway. We can turn on the monitor when we hear a knock, and check them out before we get put in one of those situations. Costco's got an 8 camera system with a dvr on sale this week for $399 I think. It's cheap peace of mind.

BTW, My mother in law had a knock on her door, the middle of the day, in Chino Hills, Ca. He wanted to make a phone call, because his car ran out of gas. After refusing, she watched him drive away :atv:

Glad to hear your friend is ok; let's all heighten our awareness of this growing problem.

  2. You could always buy the 12v adapter. I got mine at the bass pro shop. I always ran the batteries dead, using it as my speedometer in my old bus. You'd have to cut the cigarette adp. off and wire it in, but it would solve any battery issues. I was thinking about installing a mount in my boat, for some catalina trips :rainbow1:

Accuracy changes a bit, sometimes 3', sometime more; but it'll always get you back to camp, or to a stranded buddy :atv:

  3. Ive been going to shaver for 39 years. Never heard of the draining rumor. Lost plenty of propes on logs and rocks myself, rather see it full, I can get the props tuned if I need too. :laughoff:

Just temporarily for Dam repairs, beginning late 2010 or early 2011. I'd ask this summer when you're there.

  4. We spent easter at glamis. Weather was perfect: high 70s. Not too cold at night. Freshly groomed virgin dunes. Just got my camera out of the bus :P . A buddy got his ranger stuck on a razor back, made for a few good shots.

  5. Cool thread, just got back from the D great easter trip. Soccer all the time with my oldest, but, colleges are a knocking. Time to put the quads away and take care of some home maintaince. Shaver lake in June oregon dunes in July. Head to the cabin in greenhorn as much as possible. Swimming pool, coldies and friends all summer. Yee Ha!!!!

Sweet, we do a week up at Shaver lake every year for labor day. I heard they were going to drain it. Have you heard anything about this? Maybe they'll knock out some of those boat sinking boulders lying just under the surface unmarked.

:ban-split: Thanks everyone for the congrats on the twins; gonna be adding on to the house too, more than likely :beat:

  6. I've been on an emotional rollercoaster lately. I've been all down in the dumps about work being slow; yet that gives me time to go play...on a budget. A few weeks ago my wife tells me we're expecting. Caught myself staring at the wall wondering how to pay for that. We weren't trying...even trying not to with birth control. On the upside though, she went to her first ultrasound only to come home telling me we're expecting TWINS :beat:

I'm truly stoked! The boating season will have to be minimal, and next sand season will get a late start, but my funco will have full seats for every trip! There is a lot of excitement brewing amongst the families.

:old: Maybe I'll post an ultrasound 4D shot in a couple of months under the "future DDR duners" thread! :ban-split:

  7. can you think of any problems i may run into from using thicker pipe then most other rails other then weight?

Weight can be a big factor, but other than that, nothing major... might not be able to find those billet clamp on items like mirrors, grab handles, and whip mounts, etc. You can always weld tabs for that stuff now, if you haven't already, or justmake friends with a good cnc guy, and go 1 off custom on the billet items :MBdance:

  8. I borrowed the wifes tahoe today to change the oil like a good husband would, only to discover a nasty looking burnt mark about halfway up the dipstick, far above the pan oil level. Mileage on oil change was normal, oil looked normal, but the dipstick has me a little concerned. I'm wondering if this is common on the 5.3? It could possibly be where the dipstick tube passes by the exhaust manifold...but I thought I'd ask if anyone has seen this. the mark is also where the seam in the dipstick is. It has been an awesome vehicle with no complaints, currently @ 35,ooo miles. Anyone have an idea

  9. We are still doing good here! Pics are still being sold like crazy.

And now he is even expanding out into the wild world of television.

Look for Pete's upcoming new TV show..

    WOW,

    that video was awesome! :flipoff:

Please let us know when the tv show airs, so we can all tune in.

As for business, well...No busyness here. We have 5 trucks, 21 trailers ranging from end dumps to tankers to lowbeds to box vans, a bobcat, and two front end loaders; and we have about 6 hrs. of work a day to share between them all. We've had to lay off drivers, and are down to 3 employees, counting myself. My company has been the victim of numerous bankruptcies on the part of multiple debtors. On a happier note, I've completed payment #4 of 48 on the funco :driver:

  10. Don't know about the dodge in particular, but I know all makes after the middle of '07 have a diesel particulate filter blocking up the exhaust, crushing any hopes of good fuel economy: Thank you big government

20 mpg was expected with these trucks before, but with these new regulations, you can't expect but 15 or so. You can always buy the programmer and remove the garbage cling ons under there, just make sure you save it. Don't get the sawzall out too quickly, because you'll probably have to bolt it all back up one day. :banghead:

  11. Flat bills :usa:

I remember clowning on my dad for wearing his hat that way when I was a teen; sitting on the top of his head, or even a little off quilter :usa: Who knew he was pimpin it :usa:

granted it was crooked because he WORKED too hard to care!

I think it was called trucker style... or even farmer style back then...

You selling any farmer hats on here? :usa:

  12. I keep missing out on Cheese's videos. I'm thinking it's in my computer, because no one else is having issues; but the box where the video should be, is just a silhouette, or a perimeter box/line, that is sky blue inside, like the rest of the forum page. I can't click on it, or double click...nothing. I've waited 10 min. before, hoping it would load up. :blury: It's happened on just about every video lately. Has this ever happened to anyone else :banghead:

    :DDRrocks: I Know

  13. I'm slowly evolving; I got a new phone with the qwerty keyboard. I'm still a little reluctant, but it does help with some craiglist responses where I don't really care to talk to my tweaker customers :headbang1:

I have to admit though; it can be very annoying, to be out to lunch with someone that is married to it. As in family gatherings, where you go out of your way to get everyone together, and they stare into their screen, not connecting at all with the people that are there with them. :barf:

  14. :DDR: vote up peeps.

I only wish they'd suspend the diesel particulate measure that's GOING TO kill the trucking industry this coming January. I just got my notices in the mail. :ahhhhh:

Get involved people, and help stop this leftist :ahhhhh:

  15. we need to get out Jake's together at the D some day

Sounds like a plan. I haven't been up to Dumont since my test drive on my latest financial obligation :ahhhhh:

I thought I was going to make it for the 70 circus :atc: , but I was snowed in on a road trip.

    You'll know when I show up...you can't miss my bus/RV :ahhhhh:
