Awesome! We’ll be there! After this past weekend, I know it will need the clean up! Trash everywhere you turned.
Question...is the DDR having a camp location?

For me, last season was the BIG upgrade! We went from the 33' 5th wheel toyhauler to the Class C Jayco with enclosed trailer.
The new items for this season are...
The Go Power! 170 Watt solar panel with charge control mounted inside the coach
The Go Power! AGM-100 12V Battery.
We've used it twice so far for short weekend trips. It's worked out great so far. We can't wait to try it out in the dunes for a nice 2-3 night stay. Then I will determine if I need more wattage to support my families needs for the weekend.
The Jayco came with a 1000 watt inverter, I decided to keep that and we'll see if we need to upgrade the inverter next year...Maybe the 3000 watt unit LOL!

I "upgraded" last year to a Jayco 29MVP Classs C. My Jayco has the Tritan V10 engine. I was planning on this "upgrade" a few years back and purchased an enclosed trailer. The trailer lenght is 24 feet. I haul a 5 seater buggy and 2 quads. I use a weight distrobution hitch to help with the tongue weight. So far I've had no issues and the V10 tows with no problems. I don't have any pics of my set up that I can upload right now.

We had a great time! I still need to upload the photos from the camera and see what I have. I'll post up a few later on.
@HawaiianstyleLV I saw your flags flying on the car but didn't know really. It was the Hawaiian flag that I saw. I believe it was over by vendor row or driving past. We camped out Northeast of vendor row on the ridge over looking the pay station just west of the Ranger Station.

Was it the actual road grader or a large truck pulling a triangle type grader?
An actual grader that was posted up at the Ranger Station. I saw it out twice over the NYE weekend along with the water truck. The road was very smooth on the way out on NYD. I was able to drive the post 25 MPH without the MH vibrating the cabinets open!

Well, made it out! A little later than we wanted but we are here! Made it late Saturday night. So far great weather! If anyone is around we are camped next to the Ranger Station on the ridge over looking the pay station. Class C Jayco with a enclosed trailer, red sand car, and 2 quads. Stop and say hi!

Is this bug still for sale
This is a posting from 2012...I would think not, but you never know.

So far all is going good! The plan is to leave earlier Saturday morning and be at Dumont by 12 noon. 3-4 hour drive for us. Then leave Monday afternoon, after the mobs mass exit in the morning. We'll get a good morning/afternoon ride in before we leave!
@dunefreak you going to be out for New Years?

WOW! 17 years! Very nice. If all goes well with the buggy this weekend, we'll be out in the dunes for New Years too!
-
Nice and thanks Pete!

How is the road for this season? Any updates? I'm sure some people have been out already this season...

he came out of the house and said 2 words "I'm closed" and started walking away. We told him we were in desperate need of some stuff and he told us "well I'm busy stuffing my face and I'm closed".
WOW! That is crazy! Good to know how potential customers are treated... Hopefully he'll post his side of the story. Maybe a bad day on his part...

I'll be sub'n this one! What motor and trans will you be running?

We are thinking about going out over New Years too. I'll have the 30-4th off, so maybe we'll be out there too. Just need the wife to take off a few more days! She only has the 31-3 off.

I'm out, man. Maybe we can make it next year.

Vets Weekend Trip Report
in Dumont Happenings
Posted · Edited by BearsZX72
This was our 2021 season cherry popper! What an awesome weekend for weather and fun!
We left our house on Thursday morning around 1030am hoping to be in the dunes by 330pm. BUT the traffic on the 15 east bound out of Barstow was terrible! In traffic for almost 2 hours. Looked like there was 2 wrecks when we finally drove past them. Anyway, we arrived at Dumont around 530pm. Set up camp (northeast of vendors row next to the bluffs) started a fire and started to enjoy some music with a few adult beverages 👍! Our daughter and her family camped next to us. My son-in-law is a Vet, prior USAF fire fighter.
Friday woke up to a cool breeze and sunshine! Made a pot of coffee for the wife and I. Enjoyed the morning relaxing with coffee. Rolled out the buggy and quads. Took the grand-kids out for a late morning ride in the buggy to the North Pole and back. My grand kids made friends with a little boy about their age at the North Pole. The little boy had a toy quad so my grandsons flocked to him. The little boys mother gave my granddaughter a water, THANK YOU again! Grand-kids found the mail box to Santa and was very excited to write letters and drop them off...unfortunately the kids didn't get a chance to write the letters. Later in the day we went out for a late afternoon ride until sunset. Sunsets are the best in the dunes! One last chill night ride for us! Then returned to camp for more adult beverages and music!
Saturday, again woke up to a cool breeze and sunshine! We went on the Veterans group ride, me, my son-in-law and 2 grandsons. My son-in-law went up with the Veterans at Veterans Hill. Very cool that @sandchick put this ride together and thank you for passing out the American Flags to the kids! My grandsons loved the flags! We left Veterans Hill and headed to the North Pole and made our way to Comp Hill and back to camp. We took a break and had lunch and relaxed a while in the RV with the AC running. It was a hot day. After that we took a short ride towards Super Bowl and made a few runs up and down. Then headed to Banshee Hill. Once at Banshee Hill we watched a guy in a 2-seat, VW powered buggy run sideways across the dune. He ended up snapping both tie rods as he turned down hill. We helped him get his buggy off the hill side and to "flat" ground. We took him and his co-pilot back to their camp. He, in turn, drove his Dodge out and towed his buggy back. He didn't want me to tow him back. That night was chill for me and the wife, no rides. My son-in-law took out his family and some night time fun.
Sunday, woke up to a cool breeze and slightly cloudy. Made coffee and started packing up to head home! We were on the road and out of the dunes around 1030. We hit Baker for a tank dump and gas up.
It was a very good weekend. The worst part was waking up at 3am Sunday morning to loud music!
Pics to follow...
