Richard Cheese Posted August 20, 2009 Share Posted August 20, 2009 http://people.bakersfield.com/home/Blog/Br...48605/#c_435284 At about 5:45 pm Wednesday, the Sheriff's CAL-MMET unit concluded an investigation of subjects attempting to sell large amounts of methamphetamine in the Bakersfield area. The investigation concluded when 4 suspects were found in the area of Panama Ln and Hy 99, attempting to sell 9 lbs of methamphetamine. During the arrest of the suspects, one was found to be armed with a loaded .22 caliber semi-automatic pistol.The suspects had concealed the narcotics in a hidden compartment of a 2008 Pontiac sedan. Upon further inspection of the compartment, an additional 5 lbs of methamphetamine was located inside. Agents of the local DEA, and members of the Sheriff's SWAT team, Gang Suppression Section, Metropolitan Patrol Division and the STC-HIDTA Task Force assisted in the apprehension. The methamphetamine seized has an estimated street value of $771,800. Arrested were: Carmelo Ramos Torres, Hispanic male, 45 years, from San Jose Ca. He was booked into the jail for transportation of narcotics, possession of narcotics for the purpose of sales, conspiracy, and possessing a vehicle with a false/hidden compartment. Pedro Duran Garcia, Hispanic male, 33 years, from Fairfield, Ca. He was booked into the jail for transportation of narcotics, possession of narcotics for the purpose of sales, conspiracy, possessing a vehicle with a false/hidden compartment, Possession of a firearm while engaged in narcotics activity, and possession of a loaded, concealed firearm in a public place. Francisco Torres Javier Duenas, Hispanic male, 37 years, from Fairfield, Ca. He was booked into the jail for transportation of narcotics, possession of narcotics for the purpose of sales, conspiracy, possessing a vehicle with a false/hidden compartment. Carlos Cervantes Almada, Hispanic male, 37 years, from Fairfield, Ca.
