  1. Sorry about the using of names. Figured the cat was out of the bag with the prior post. I am pretty sure I recognize that buggy. Mabe you should PM or email me so I know who is psuedo-anonomously chastising me (still, after well over 25 years).
  2. I knew someone would remember ! ! ! That Vegas group was definitely us. Chuck Bartolo was in our group as was Alex "the Rat" I forget his last name who owned the gas station on Sahara. My Dad and I were talking about him and the good old days just the other day (prompting this thread). Randy Black was also acqauinted, though not directly involved in our camp. I am still good friends with Chuck Bartolo's three daughters. You may or maynot remember when Chuck wadded up his buggy on a three wheeler track on the flats. I also remember being about 11 or 12 and wheeling up Comp (the face) at midnight and seeing nothing but black sky. Truly the good old days. I cant wait to show this to my Dad. I am looking for pics at his house tomorrow. Thanks a ton for replying.
  3. If I had them, I would have posted them Remember, I was a kid and it was the early to mid 80's.
  4. My pops and several of his buddies had these wheelie poppers running blown alcohol burning VW 2180 motor when I was a kid. Our group was really the Vegas connection with this style chassis. Now my brothers and I are all back into duning at Dumont and I refuse to beleive that there are no more of these around anymore or that they arent made anymore. The short wheelbase wheelie poppers I see out there now, just dont look right, in comparison. I am mostly curious to see if any of these guys are around and if so, what they are building or running them selves. Ive searched the net and couldnt find anything. Thanks all!!
  5. I run the iShock P51's and really love them. They are a huge improvement over stock and a good crutch until I get my long travel. My brother one upped me before Vet's Day at Dumont and showed up with the FabTech Long Travel kit. I rode in it and cant wait to get LT this next off season. Little does he know what else I have planned. Heh Heh heh. He wont know what hit him.
  6. Very cool work! ! ! You need to put your physical address and phone number on your temp website below the logo. I might come by tomorrow. Looking for a little performance and a long travel at the end of the season. Im in Vegas too. ThanX
  7. I found several websites that custom make the light strings for individual applications. They even have an LED 12V rope light setup, cut and wired to spec. Here is one of the websites (probably the one I will order from): www.ledropelightsandmore.com. I will let you know the set up, but the only flag that I have settled on is a Diver Down one. Thinking of some other ones to add as well. Cheers for the help.
  8. I recently ordered a 22' pole and holder from Poles and Holders I am not really a fan of the marker lights (only 28" long). I want to hang a rope light and want the BRIGHTEST, most noticible from a distance there is. My fear is that standard rope lights wont be bright enough. What about LED rope lights, anyone have any insight?? Thanks.
  9. We had a new stock (ugly green one) RZR in our camp over Vet's day. Thing is smoking fast, dropped pressure to about 4 psi and stupid thing climbed the face of Comp (not the saddle) effortlessly. Our $20K plus rhinos cant do that. I was floored. Polaris has a def winner with this machine. Maybe wife needs one of these too.
  10. I dont generally run the front diff locked in. I will try this next month at Dumont for sure. Thanks!!
  11. My 14 YO nephew and my 12 YO son did the same thing in my Rhino. Alot slower and only one flip. Landed Rubber side down and my excuse for the Todds Custom Billet full Cage. Thank heavens for the 4-pt harnesses ! ! ! ! :whew:
  12. I found the lienk to the clutch lit. Form DFR. DFR--Snowmobile Clutch
  13. I was flipping through a SideXSide Mag this morning and saw that there is a snowmobile clutch kit (converts the stock wet clutch to a dry sled clutch for like $1400). I ride snowmobiles too and really wondered about this mod for my RHino. Anyone have this mod or know some one who does. I dont remember who sells it, maybe DFR??
  14. Tecopa will same you another 30 miles or more. Road is fine and has been for 30 years. Thats how long I have been going that direction.
  15. Both my brother and I are shopping for long travel kits for out Rhino's (mine 2006, his 2007). We are trying to figure out which kits to buy and what should be included in them. At the moment, I am leaning toward the Fab Tech kit for around $5,000. He is looking at the So Cal Kit with added Gorilla Axles, Elka Shocks. Honestly, we are a little puzzled and want the best kits for the least amount of money (DUH). Also, is there anything that we need additional that the kit seller might forget to mention or might save us time or more realistically, DOWN time. Thanks for the help in advance.
  16. Just a little clarification. After checking things out, getting ready to to w all the way to Medford, Oregon for my VIN inspection and registration in Oregon (I was leaving today), I discovered that effective January 1, 2006, if you by a resale from a private party, you are SALES TAX EXEMPT!!!!! Canceled the drive trip and will pay the higher registration fees to register my WW here in Nevada. I am very excited. BTW, Vet's Day at Dumont is going to RAGE!!!
  17. Well. Ironically, I did not buy a Raptor, like I thought I wanted. I lucked into a 2006 Weekend Warrior CL4005 from a private party seller. Price was right, condition was tip top. Bought it today, will install the hitch and pick it up tomorrow. Registering it in Oregon this next week. Needless to say. We are very excited and cant wait for Vet's Day at Dumont ! ! ! ! ! :beer_bang: Thanks for the input.
  18. There most certainly is Sales Tax. 7.75% Also, our registration fees are OUTRAGEOUS. That's why I will register it in Oregon, where my property is. Here is the party line from any dealer, car, motorcycle, or RV. If you buy in Nevada and have a Nevada driver's license. You pay Nevada sales tax. Period. Nevermind that I have corporations in Oregon. Nevada DL = Nevada sales tax. I have already done the measurements, the 2 mini's fit along side one 250EX. Then the Rhino with room to spare on the sides for tires, etc. Then the 2 Raptors on the backend. Also. This Hauler had etracks down the floor for anchors ties where ever needed. I was really looking for help on the price on this machine.
  19. I have the Glock 36 (as well as the 27 and 19) and wish I had bought the XD45. Smoother firing and less kick by far. I am still a Glock fan, but am heading for the XD soon.
  20. I have the 26" Dune Stars on 14" ITP's and really like them They are light, dont get buried and really help pull the Rhino up the dunes. They dont ride bad on the flats, and we even took it up the wash a ways and didnt ride rough at all. The only down fall that I have been able to tell is that in 4WD, the front wheel can get ripped out of your hands up the dunes. Maybe need some sort of steering stabilizer or something. Overall, I do like them.
  21. When we were duning as kids in the early to mid 1980's, there was a store right there. at the apex of the turn to the Hot Springs and the trailer park. Its the one that's all boarded up now. You would really have to be seasonal, operating from maybe Labor to Memorial day. Locking it up the rest of the year. Too dang hot. It wouldnt work from an investment perspective. Unless you wanted to retire to Tecopa. I don't think so, Tim.
  22. Doesnt Cal's do the warranty work on these Raptors? Is there any particular salesman that I should give a call to and say you recommended them.
  23. I love this rig. I am in the process of shopping for one because its one of the few that will haul all of my toys. I have a Rhino and 5 quads. What I would like to know is where can I get the best deal. I would like to buy outside of Nevada if possible because I have a Ranch in Oregon and will title and register it up there. You buy in Nevada, you pay Nevada sales tax. Period. Anybody have any hookups with dealers that sell the Raptor 3924SS where I can get a good deal? Thanks a ton and
  24. Yes. It was in the daytime and someone is mistaken or FOS. Not a good time to play games
  25. My brother was second on the scene and they were apparently camped right next to us. Father and son in law. SIL's first time at the dunes, first ride in a rail. Sad for the wives and kids. Ditto on a collection if its OK???
