  1. Drive through any Oildale neighborhood on a Friday or Saturday night any sit back and watch the free entertainment. Or accordining to my husband he gets free entertainment every morning when he has to drive through it on his way to work, he says it's hard to keep track which thing to watch. You might have the toothless couple fighting on one corner and guys passing a pipe on another corner any some chick showing her stuff for money on the other corner. Great stuff there!! haha
  2. We had 1/4 in. of solid ice frozen across our pool this morning. Looked pretty cool. Doesn't look like the typical Bakersfield weather.
  3. Yeah this really sucked!! We went to the first meeting and were surprised to see so many supporters there and very surprised to see not very many non-supporters (but the ones that were there had thier opinions heard). This sucked since there isn't any place to ride in Bakersfield or the surrounding areas especially since Mesa Marin is gone now there isn't even a place you can just go to take a day trip to just ride around unless you know someone with private land to ride on. When I was growing up you could ride just about anywhere, up and down Porterville Hwy in the hills and across from Hart Park. We had a couple different race tracks. My brother used to race at Sprockets Race track and another one on Ming Ave. (can't remember the name). I even remember one time I was about 14 years old and riding my friends 125 down Chester Ave and a cop pulled next to me and just said "hi". We used to ride that thing everyday to go to the water slides/arcade. Yeah right now that would not happen. It sucks that now we have to drive at least 2 1/2 hours away for my kids to enjoy a riding time.
  4. Great what a perv. Couldn't have gotten my 6 yr old, he's deathly affraid of Santa, or anyone in a costume for that matter.
  5. Woo-hoo I got new plastics for my Raptor. Oh and some jewelry.
  6. My sons kindergarten teachers name was Miss Szczucki, pronounced like suzuki. He always thought that was pretty cool.
  7. We are from Bakersfield and we got to Dumont Wednesday around 2:00 and didn't hit much traffic but we were in for a long drive on Sunday headed home. What usually takes around 4 1/2 hours to get home ended up taking us around 9 hours. We were stuck in traffic bumper to bumper from Baker to Kramer Jct. then the traffic was smooth sailing. We even pulled over somewhere along the way and sold our leftover gas to a guy pulling a boat who was running out of gas and had a hole in his tire on his boat trailer, so we got him gassed up and aired up and he was once again on his way. After we were done we got back onto the highway and only about 10 cars got ahead of us.
  8. I have to say the Arby's tasted pretty good when we stopped there before heading home Sunday, but then yet we were starving after getting the trailer loaded and ready we realized we had a flat tire with a staple in it due to the previous campers before us so we had to change a trailer tire. So four hours of loading and changing a tire we were hungry. And come to find out the guy camped next to us had 3 tires with nails also. Thanks to all those campers for burning the wood with nails in it and pallets with nail and staples!!
  9. Which tire shop? I'll have to remember this when it's time to have the tires rotated. And yeah it would be great to have internet at the doctor's office, sometimes I end up spending a couple of hours in there and trying to watch a fuzzy channel on the tv with some soap opera on it.

  11. When CA. passed this law for the first few weeks everytime the media interviewed a restaurant or bar owner they whined about how they were going to loose patrons and end up closing thier businesses but guess what just the opposite. The bars and restaurants that cater to the "drinkers" or "partiers" now have outside patios and on any given night these places are packed. And I have to admit it's nice to sit out on the patio to have dinner and a drink you just have to be choosey where you sit if you don't want to be around a smoker. Although I hear that some of the old "crusters" that hang out in the old bars will still smoke inside and risk getting a fine.
  12. Hi CarrieAnn, We are also from Bakersfield and also headed to Dumont for Thanksgiving. We will be leaving Wednesday-Sunday unless we can get the kids out of school Tuesday then we will leave then. Hoping the weather stays nice with no rain. Michelle
  13. Hi "midtravel". My family and I are also from Bakersfield and we camp at Dumont 2-3 times per year. We usually camp near the first finger dune and we some how usually end up next to the giant McFlury which is a great marker at night. We have a charcoal chevy 2500 4x4, 39 ft Sandpiper. We will be there for Thanksgiving, if that is when you're going maybe we will meet you.
