  1. are those dinosaurs in his yard year round? even on top of his house? dang

:MBdance: Oh hell no!! Does that guy really leave those dinosaurs up all year????!!! That's funny sh*t!!! If he starts putting F.U. signs up, you'll know he's being harrassed by the code enforcers. :P I don't even want to know what the inside of his house looks like! :driver:

There are dinosaurs there year round, he changes them every once in awhile. He adds seasonal decorations for the holidays. He recently added the ones on the roof along with some new ones in the yard. I've seen him out in the yard, he is an older guy, probably a retired Paleontologist. I wonder where he gets the dinosaurs, that green one is like 7 feet tall. :DDRrocks:

I think I'm going to re-decorate the front yard :hello: .

  2. They tried to do the same thing to that crazy judge Halverson  a while back too. Not sure what the outcome was.

    http://www.reviewjournal.com/lvrj_home/200...s/11958767.html

They did the same thing to Halverson, but she complied and had it cleaned up before the county arrived to do it themselves, but she only did that to avoid the fees she would have been charged. The news went out and had a story showing her yard before and after.

Here is another story on it...

  3. on the first link, i had to laugh about the commercial vehicle one, the house across the street from me has had a caterpillar frontloader in front of the house for about 3 months with a big for sale sign on it, outside the property fence, on the dirt which would have to basically be considered the sidewalk. motorcycle cops are on my street daily, nailin speeders (since this is the only section of bermuda thats 35 instead of 45) and the have even parked behind it, or next to it, so they can hide from the cars. yet its still there and has never even been "orange stickered" lol. its just goes to show ya, lots of codes are just created to give "some" of the people, "all" of the power, "some" of the time, and that sometime is usually whenever it suits them best. typical schoolyard bully game, make an example out of one kid, so the others fall in line.

But it says "This does not include, a single commercially licensed automobile."

Motorcycle cops are not Code Enforcement or Parking Enforcement, so its not something they would handle. If you contacted your area police station they wouldn't send a cop they would forward it to either Parking Enforcement or Code Enforcement to handle depending on the location and what jurisdiction it falls under.

Code Enforcement usually takes action after various complaints or if something is posing an immediate hazard. They aren't just driving around looking for violations.

    Here are the County Codes

    http://www.municode.com/Resources/gateway....6214&sid=28

Here is the news article from the LV Sun...

    http://www.lasvegassun.com/news/2009/oct/0...angry-response/

    This lists the offenses as...

"In the notice, the county said Ingram was violating four county ordinances: storage of unlicensed and inoperable vehicles; maintenance of fences, walls and landscaped areas; outside storage of materials and/or equipment; and accumulation of solid waste."

And a judge signed a warrant after 4 inspections...

"Finally a seizure warrant was signed by a judge allowing for the removal of inoperable vehicles, utility trailers, plywood, pallets, marble stone pieces, tiles and other items found in Ingram’s yard."

and now he is violating another code by placing the signs on his roof

"Even with a cursory glance, it appears Ingram’s numerous roof signs break the code that says very plainly: “The following types of sign structures are prohibited: Roof Signs.”

We have a 'strange' yard in our neighborhood...there are about 15 dinosaurs and various decorations depending on the season in this one yard. His collection is growing, but it is not trash or storage of materials, it is decoration. It's weird, we laugh about it every time he changes it. There is a difference in decorating and trashing the place or using your yard for storage.

  4. It is explained here....

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Amargosa_River

"The Amargosa River is an intermittent stream, 185 miles (298 km) long, in southern Nevada and eastern California in the United States. It drains a high desert region northwest of Las Vegas into Death Valley, where it disappears into the ground. Except for a small portion of its route in the Amargosa Canyon in California and a small portion at Beatty, Nevada, the river flows only after a rare rainstorm washes the region.

Except during flash floods that occur after cloudbursts, most of the course of the Amargosa River is dry on the surface.[5] The flow is generally underground except for stretches near Beatty and near Tecopa, California, in the Amargosa Canyon."

  6. Dogs are fine in the meadow, I think in the camp ground they have to be on a 6ft leash. We were in the meadow on an off weekend with just our camp and 2 other camps, the Ranger stopped by and I didn't have my dog tied up and he ran right up to the Ranger and he didn't say anything about it at all.

The Rangers are really nice out there, we have never had any issues with them.

Their biggest issue is when people burn on the ground, so please put your fire in a container and do not dump your ashes on the ground. They said that is what is going to get the Meadow closed for camping. Camping in the Meadow is free.

    If you have a GPS...

  7. Damn Cole, with all that roof support are you PLANNING on rolling it? :dope:

j/k Looking good guys, and coming along fairley quickly too :thumb:

:MBdance: I thought the same thing....but its Cole, he doesn't plan on rolling it just kind of happens with him :whoop: .

Looking good Cole, can't wait to see it in the dunes! :headbang1:

  8. sounds like its back up to a pretty good maybe! If so, we'll have to hook up for a ride!!! I don't want to be eating Mike's sand all weekend... and I am sure he won't want to sit around in that pretty car waiting for me to catch up.. :flipoff:

(Of course I am only assuming you are bringing your quad... I didn't think about that, you may not bring it)

Who else is going that is bringing their quad and wouldn't mind not going on a fifth gear pinned bumper to bumper ride... ???...???

QRF seeking QRP: I like long cruising rides between third gear and fourth gear, I used to like to be at the tail end of a line, but after riding Coral this summer, I don't mind somone behind me now. Its not safe to ride alone, but I can put around if needed. I have a Honda 450r kick start that I can start myself, so must like Honda's or at least be willing to ride in the same line with one... I am still a teeny bit shakey on the big tall hills, but I am able to find another way around. So if interested please let me know...

    :blah:

No really though.. I will be looking for someone to ride with! :old:

We will have the quads and the car  ...not sure that Jim will get on his quad, but I will be on mine for sure after I get some time in the car. :ynot:

I'll probably be following the car on my quad, but I'm thinking it won't be too fast of a ride since it will be the first trip with it and if you join me we will just try to follow and if we can't then we will cruise and meet up with them when ever we get there...just stop by the camp and try to catch us :mc: .

  9. Looks good cheese. Come on though, how couldn't they match that? Dmax's only come in that color and white!!!!!

 I tease Jim about the same thing all the time!

Hey Cheese...I'd definately want my entire truck painted if it was in an accident, looks good

I think parking way faw away just makes you a bigger target ;)

Thanks for the info, but the guy on GD.com does not offer insurance in NV. Maybe he should look into getting licensed in NV :pics: .

There is a guy on GD.com that sales it and handle many people over there

    Capt

He doesn't do NV. I checked with him

You must have been with Allstate before they changed their sandraill coverage policy, they now only cover up to $20K.

Looks like State Farm is the way to go now in NV :pics: .

  11. Thanks for the info guys... :beercheers:

still seems like different agents give different info :ban-split: so I'll stop by and chat with the one of the agents you guys are using.

David..thanks for the clarification, I'll ask them about that. What is the name of your agent and the office location??

  12. I am insurance agent not for Allstate any more and I can write through Progressive. If someone wants to email me their info I can give you a quote and let you know how the rates are. I am trying to get Allied Insurance who will insure sand rails at the replacement cost along with liability insurance.

What info do you need for a quote on a sandrail and for some quads?

  13. State Farm called me back today.....said you have to have an auto policy to have an atv/rail policy  . Anyone with State Farm that only has an atv/rail policy??

Seems like every agent we talk to there says something different :thumb: .

David...about how much did you pay a year for the coverage you had on the old rail? They quoted about $1100/yr.

  14. Yup yup yup....lots of discussion....not a lot of conclusions but still glad we attended nonetheless. I took some notes on some $$ matters and can post them up if anyone is interested.

And YES Jason, Saturday meeting(s) were discussed and almost got one scheduled as soon as December. BUT some key members could not attend a weekend meeting so it's scheduled for the 2nd Tuesday in Dec. A Sat. meeting will be scheduled for mid-season so more "public" can attend. The DAC is going to meet Dec 11th and the sub-group wants to meet again BEfore that date, however, the 5th was not feasible so they decided on the 8th. Oh well.

All in all, it was worth my time and the drive to and from to attend. The next one will be more Dumont specific since the "elections" and details about what can and cannot be discussed were the main agenda this time around.

Lunch with Mike and Terry following the meeting was icing on the cake. :D

    We are interested  .

  15. lets get this right this isnt his rail its mine to......get it right cole baby...lol...this is his partner in crime Dave

    Congrats Cole.....and Dave :ogp:

love how this guy thinks mine mine all mine.....:MBdance: here to you and MY new adventure,,,bud...drive safe

So how do you guys decide who gets to drive? :idiot::idiot:

Hey Cole, this has to be much safer than the 2 wheeler :whoop: or the :mog:  have fun learning to drive it, I had a blast learning last season!!

  16. Lol Jim I got a quote from same co. They wanted $2800 a year. State farm is $900 a year. Plus the liability limits are WAY higher than that.... I assume there all the same but if u need numberet me know.

Paul send Jim a PM with the # and what your coverage amounts are if you don't mind. ;)

He spoke with an agent who couldn't explain to him how their policy works. There is an office right by our house, I'll stop in and talk to them today.
