  1. Well I'm sorry it sounds retarded, but when you call the people that make the rules in Carson City @ the Motor Carrier Division, and they tell you what i said here, maybe you'll get it.

They answer to Federal Motor Carrier and enforce the rules throughout Nevada.

This has nothing to do with how easily you can or can't pull.

I am not saying I like it I am only saying it like it is. Whether or not anyone, much less you, want to believe it is up to you all.

Just make sure you don't ever hit me! Just so everyone understands that.

  2. here's more c...p to ad to the pile. Every vendor that goes to dumont that tows a trailer with inventory for sale inside of it, legally, has to have a cdl because they are considered a commercial vehicle.

I have mine since I tow my trlr with obvious advertising showing I'm a business and I tow with a tractor. Most all of the other vendors have been told of my exploits regarding having to get a cdl and most are ignoring the issue, hoping they won't get caught.

what no one here has addressed yet is the issue of the door sticker and weight.

If you are towing a trlr with 3 axles that are 6,000 pound capacity and that equals 18,000 pounds folks, and your door sticker on your pulling vehicle says 14,550 for example, you will be viewed as overweight sitting still.

I argued the point at the LV DMV Commercial license desk when attempting to get my cdl-a with my trlr and my dodge p/up. a supervisor was called in. A Sheriff was called in. A phone call was made to Carson City by the supervisor.

I was sent away and politely told to go home before I got cited for the obvious overweight since I have 3 6,000 pound axles and my p/up is only stickered from the factory for just over 14 or 15,000 pounds. I honestly can't remember what it's sticker says.

I mentioned the obvious to them all "you never looked inside, I don't have much weight in there, I planned for resale by having the trl built with 6's instead of 5's.

They said they wouldn't care if it was filled with ping pong balls, they pay attention to the stickers. Regarding the stickers and how it may not be readable. That's the responsibility of the trlr owner to maintain the integrity of the sticker just as a license plate. If you or an officer can't read it, it can be misconstrued to read higher which as i said above, can be to your detriment (overloaded by vehicle capacity). Or, it could be read lower which will also be to your detriment (overloaded by weight in vehicle).

It's all a pain in the a..s and it is not just there to generate revenue.

Believe me, if someone out there clobbers me and hospitalizes me, my lawyer will want to know what freight train did this to me and I'll mumble thru my full body wrap "check it the hell out and own them when it's over". Let's face it, it's a litigious society and everyone would want a piece if they got hit by someone not legal.

Avoid it and get legal. You'll be smarter and a better driver for it.

Do you want some inexperienced driver hauling overloaded without proper equipment hitting your rear end or your wife's rear end while she sits at the stop sign at the bottom of a hill?

get legal and quit bitchin. When you get a cdl, tell your insurance agent. it qualifies you for a policy wide discount on your vehicles.

    that's enough from me.

  3. what to do?? 150 gal fresh, 50 gal poop, 50 gal grey. once the grey is full, how do I get rid of the extra 50 gal of water?? does that mean I cant use the rest of my water since I have no where to dump it? rules or whatever they are, are really logical. typical govt that doesnt have a clue in the real world. kinda like the no fireworks thingy in the middle of the desert since the rule if from the US Forest Service that the BLM adapted because they cant think for themselves. govt at its best. will get even better with obama. cant wait

Maybe the reason they don't want fireworks in the dunes is because some people don't bother to clean up the mess the fireworks leave on the 'launch site'.

    think outside the box.

  4. I loved the drive out. I think it's the first time in all my years going to Dumont, that I could actually do 25 mph and not be shaking my rig apart. The road was so smooth and watered down. No dust. it was great.

visitors to vendors row actually seemed to do the speed limit there and they made very little dust. that was much appreciated by all the vendors!

  5. Can I buy a weekend pass at the Velro gas station in Baker, or do I have to get it at the enterance to the dunes? It has been a long time since I have been out there and I'm sure things have changed. Thanks and hope to meet new peeps at the meet and greet on Sat @2pm.

I'll have them on vendor row, but i charge $5 over face value there.

I have them 74 of them in stock in my store now for $40 cash. $42 c card.

You can also buy them on my site for more, due to shipping.

  6. i hope everyone had a great weekend every weekend they went out!

    Doghouse Repair

    Thanks for the support

    Phil & Wrinkles

i normally would not do this but I was somehow compelled

  7. Ive seen a few of the big WW with cracked wheels. Alot of them have 6000 lb axles instead of 7500 which they should have been built with. Id upgrade to a 16 inch wheel and tire combo. Minimum E rated.

Yea, I looked at this one and it has steel rims (chromed) and I think the owner told me he has G rated tires on it.

I am a bit apprehensive, but I'll get the trlr by just taking over payments so I'm going to go visit my banker tomorrow.

  8. KEP recommended the 228 with a 3 pad disc and a stage 2 pressure plate. I have had others recommend the 228mm (9 inch) 6-pad disc with "stage 3" pressure plate.

the heavier the p-plate the bigger your master cyl should be that will feed the clutch slave, so you have less pedal pressure.

If you friends with 'practical application' knowledge have had 'continued' success with thier setup go with their setup. if they're set up is fairly new and thus not something you want to gamble on liking, go with what kennedy suggests.

  9. Well its only my 9th anniversary with mine we were married 01-01-01 pretty cool huh?

That date will never happen again in any of our lives!

So Happy Anniversary to you!!! And many more!!! :yiah:

I will be there as well, probabaly bothering the guy in the window at DOGHOUSE!!

    I got a stalker.

  10. In your location you always look closed.

We came by several times, looked like a parked vehicle, and perhaps your biz was someplace else on vendors row that we never spotted.

    Jus' sayin'.

that's part of the problem of me vending alone like i do, when i have 'to go', i close my vending window so as to have some peace. Same with when I am eating or sleeping.

I always open at 8 am and always close around 8pm to 9:30pm depending on traffic up to my window.

    Sorry you missed me.

  11. Just curious how many vendors we have reading the boards. If you are a vendor and coming out this weekend go ahead and post up. I know some are already out there like Sandcrazd and Racin Dirty, but let's see who else will be there. :beat:

I think it would be nice to have a heads up before the weekend. Some might plan ahead to stop by if they know you are coming out.

I show up tomorrow evening (maybe at sundown) with my vending trlr and my 'new to me' LQ trlr.

  12. I dont believe so. I havent had a single problem since i moved to the new shop until this. This post sure is sturring the pot. I been getting blown up all day by the thieves brother. He wants me to remove the post. Maybe if you remove your thief brother from your life you wouldnt have to deal with posts like this that spread the truth and worn people about people like your brother! I have a sister thats a thief and I havent talked to her in years. You choose your path buddy. Im glad so many people are reading the post. I hope it drives more business to dog house. Ive never known him as a thief. Hes always been a straight up guy from my experiences with him.

They did work out of Mike's booth but Mike had nothing to do with this. Thats the guys though just to make it clear if anyone isnt sure who Im talking about.

    Thank you

  13. So you are trying to sell your biz and just going to focus on engines?

IMHO, the person running the biz is the biz.

Always had good dealing with all the Dumont Vendors.

Glamis vendors,, well,, that can be a crap shoot.

I have multiple plans in place: 1: Sell just the vending business and concentrate solely on my Pahrump location and my websites (parts & engines). 2: Sell the entire business ( :ahhhhh: ) and concentrate on Phil. 3: Keep expanding at both - right now, this plan is getting more attention than the others

One of the main concerns people have expressed to me about my idea of selling the vending business: don't sell to a person that doesn't have the experience level I have. I agree and fortunately someone without at least the experience level I have, won't have the funds to buy it anyway.

Enormous opportunity for me to poke fun here on that subject :ahhhhh:

I am actually surprised that some vw mechanic that is retired, hasn't stepped up to the challenge. Or at least someone with similar credentials or background.

  14. and if you remember phil wasnt asleep either those guys flat out lied about it !! i think phill was at the party or somthing.

 ya ding dong bob is your freind !!! :beercheers:

I was at Tammy's party and they knew it because Mikey and I were standing by the fire talking and then he left to go back to his trlr and then they sold the cv.

    Oh well.

I'm sure I made up the lost 10% profit on someone else THAT WAS HAPPY TO PAY ME 'CAUSE I HAD THE PART they needed. :headspin: :ban-split::laughing:

  15. He is in a medically induced coma right now... temps are at 103 with an IV.... had him on Ice packs to bring the fever down. Time will tell.. Did I mention he is 36 yrs old? Wow... unbelievable.... I am optimistic on is recovery and think he will be ok with a little time..

    Capt

circumstances like this certainly show us all how fragile we are no matter how tough we think we are. ahh, it's just a cold just doesn't fly anymore. If you're not careful - your hospitalized.

Don't take chances & don't take your life for granted. I've actually stopped shaking hands with people I'm getting so paranoid. I'm not Howie Mandel yet though.

Our prayers to Dallas and his family.

  16. what was stolen? post pics or details so peeps can not buy or know what to look for!!

well we know who they all are. They used to park/camp/operate out of Mikey's camp and now that Mikey is gone (cody's dad) they have acquired Mikey's banners and are still selling the same stuff. Some of it mentioned in another forum. I guess now we know why they can sell it cheap.

it's a shame that our economy has turned people so desperate.

  17. It wasnt you that I bought a cv from... unless you smoke cigars... then well that was last season... It was the Night of Steves wifes birthday and I was told that Phil was in bed and not to bother him but.. he had a cv and it wasnt cheap... but he had it... and then tried to charge me 15 bucks for the little package of grease that came with the pack lol

    Whatever... its only money

    CApt

hey, I remember that night and the cv! that's funny, all that activity going on and I remember that one thing. guess I'm not so old after all, since I still have my memory. Chris, now that the cigar was mentioned we both know who it was that got him, so you can calm down. We see the little guy again that banged on your door for the starter. :dope::laughing:

And by the way you owe me $3 for that tab you welded on that guys hitch! give it to me or I'll bang you on the head with a hammer! :beercheers:
