  1. oh no - nah ah - i could build my own for less and it would be faster  i had to you understand!
  2. thanks, it's going out tomorrow. the reason for all the maybe's is because i have my semi for sale and my lq for sale and if the semi sells, i won't be going to dumont anymore. That could be construed as 'turbo-bruce speak' for "no worries" there, but oh well, there it is.
  3. what vehicle are you towing with and what attachments do you have for towing?
  4. oops, you beat me to it. I've since put my possible schedule for the year, on that page. Sorry.
  5. I have them in stock all the time. Check my Dumont Dunes page here, https://www.doghouserepair.com/events/dumont/ to see when I'll be at Dumont. Please note though, that I do charge $35 cash at Dumont & $37 plastic while at Dumont.
  6. as long as they are current, they'll be recognized by Ca as valid
  7. I keep a small electric heater in the space under my sink (where the water heater is) and I set it on the lowest setting which is 40 degrees. I also keep another one of those heaters in the space where the fresh water tank and pump is. It's also set at 40 degrees and that area is also where the shower plumbing (all copper) is and the plumbing going past the tub to the front sink is. yea, I'm sure it's adding to my elec bill, but it's cheaper than yanking and replacing broken pipes and such.
  8. The owner has let me know that he will take a quad or motorcycle in trade for the engine. E-mail Doghouse the SPECIFICS of what you have to trade and I'll put you in touch with the owner.
  9. heard 2 people died this weekend. 1 over there and another 1 over there, told by BLM standing at my trlr. I think 1 was in a Rhino type vehicle and the other was in a rail I think he said. Both from lack of wearing seat belts. Very sad.
  10. So I cruised in after 1pm on Thursday and the little track dozer was in the road doing his thing - rigs were driving by him in both directions as they all took their turns - then it was my turn and I went through as slow as everyone else did, since it was still bumpy. I parked on vendor row and gave the trlr a quick glance as I drove off AND WAS AMAZED AT THE DAMAGE I saw at the back of my lq trlr! Apparently everyone but me missed a big a... boulder and it crumpled the steel and tore it at the rear 'valance'. Now I get to hire someone with a rosebud tip to warm the steel cherry red and flatten it back out AND THEN WELD IT back together. See, and all of you out there wondering if you'd make it through without damage. Was I the only one I wonder?
  11. Thanks mariposa for the info. That's great news!
  12. personally, I'd much rather someone over state the width, depth, or extent of the crossing damage than understate it and I suffer damage as a result. I appreciate anyone giving input to this discussion that's helpful to those of us yet to have made the trek out there for ourselves. I'm sure it's cold & wet out there. Thanks everyone, and remember what Patrick Swayze said in the movie Roadhouse, 'be nice'.
  13. thanks BEOCH. I hope they can get it fixed. I just saw on the news that there's rain in the forecast for tomorrow with a chance of snow flurries in Vegas!
  14. BLM crew is on it's way now - that's all I know at this time. take pics people if you get the chance!
  15. I am waiting for a call from Larry Blaine (chief of recreation BLM) to see if he knows of anything in the works. I'll update as soon as I know anything.
  16. thanks a bunch for the updates. I know how important it is for me to know the condition and I'm sure everyone else is grateful for the constant flow (pun intended) of new info on the crossing.
  17. I can't imagine that BLM has it in the budget to bring in the materials to repair/ make passable that road. I am sure appreciative of all the input coming from you duners already there. I'm going to try contacting some other vendors to see what their plans are.
  18. I have to head in to Dumont tomorrow morning. If the situation hasn't improved, I'll be camped and vending out of the little dunes.
  19. I hope, as I'm sure many others will, that someone will post up more information about the access into Dumont, as the days go by. I can only imagine how easy it might be to get stuck in that area, even after the majority of the water slows its speed. Thanks for the pics
  20. on sale until NOON 12-23-10 see the ad here: https://www.doghouserepair.com/store/item/10745 if you have what it takes to get this home

  22. I don't know, maybe I should have asked the site appraiser (turbo_bruce) if this price was ok before posting it.
