Las Vegas Sun is bought by the Casinos in Vegas

Due to the $H!TTY experience my wife and I had in Vegas back in the beginning of October because of a concert cancellation, I thought I would share some FACTS surrounding the cancellation, and the lack of information flowing from Ceasers in a timely manner that would have allowed us to cancel our hotel rezzies, and not spend over 1K in a trip to Vegas for nothing. I DID write a letter to the LV sun about this too... i am going to touch on what i felt were the important points of my letter. . in my letter, I pointed out that the first press release of the concert cancellation came from the Branson, MO newspaper on Thursday, Oct 4th @ 4pm CST, which is 2pm pst. (google news page is a GREAT resource) this establishes when Ceasers actually knew that there would be no concerts for the ENTIRE WEEKEND. Had we been notified ANY time on Thursday, we would have been able to cancel our rezzies with no FINANCIAL concequences, or zero money out of pocket for us. . On Friday, October 5th, before we left town @ 10 am, I checked our E-mail, and the Ceaser's website for information pertaining to the Celine concert. Nothing pointed to a cancellation of any kind. The information provided on the site led me to believe that everything was still a go. We left B-field @ 10 am . We were in Vegas for over 24 hours before we found out about the cancellation. We only found out about it, because the wife and I wanted to familiarize ourselves with the layout of Ceaser's, where to park, where the concert hall was, etc etc. Then, by chance, my wife decided she wanted to look @ the coach stores in Ceaser's mall, and eat lunch @ the cheesecake factory. By chance, we happened by a kiosk that was attempting to give a free show tickets for this or that show, and my wife informed the gentleman that we already had plans. He then told us that the concerts were cancelled all week. I thought he was joking, so i made a joke back, and we continued on. we happened by the Celine store in the mall, and on about 1,200 square feet of glass storefront, there was an 8.5x11 paper abstractly placed that outlined the cancellations. meanwhile, the show inside the mall was still going on, like the concerts werent cancelled...as a matter of fact, the paper was the ONLY ADVETISEMENT we saw telling us of the concert cancellation. . When we got home on Sunday, October 7th, I found an Email sent by ticketmaster @ 330pm on Friday notifying us of the show cancellation and refund information as well. all this information left me with a few questions...... 1. Why were we not notified in a timely manner? Ceaser's knew as early as 2 pm Thursday, and quite possibly earlier than that, yet their website NEVER mentioned the cancellation. 2. Why would ticketmaster wait almost 25 hours AFTER the cancellations of the show to inform their customers? it isnt like all of Vegas goes and sees her night in/nigt out! at least 90% of the ticket holders were from out of town, i would venture to say. Did ticketmasters get the cancellation info from Ceasers, and "sit on it" or was Ceaser's at fault for not notifying ticketmaster in a timely manner? 3. What possible motive would Ceaser's have for not notifying the ticket holders in a timely manner of the cancellation? ANSWER...... money.... When I got nowhere fast with Ceaser's and my questions, I thought to send a letter to the Sun outlining only the facts stated above, and what I beleived to be the problem, not presenting it as fact for three weeks I didnt hear from the Sun. I began calling every day, leaving messages with anyone who would take a message. I finally got a call back from the editor on Monday, regretfully informing me that they wouldnt run my letter. He reason was that it was more of an opinion that a factual letter. I was able to read between the lines. when he quit talking, I said he could go ahead and say "it" he asked me what I was referring to. I said, "you can tell me that the casinos and resorts are your biggest subscribers, and that to run this letter could possibly put that in jeopardy." there was silence on the phone, just as i expected, and I told him to have a nice day. I even went as far to e-mail the city council, to which i still have yet to get a reply.... makes me wonder....if they are willing to chump a couple out of towners for over a grand in one weekend, what are they pulling on the town residents??? just some food for thought....

here is an issue i have with my fuel injected ranger the fuel programmers are about the cost of a new carb. Yet, the controllers are very limited as to where you can add/take away fuel AND also limited to how much fuel you can add or take away. one would think that you could buy a programmer, much like i did for my diesel, that already has custom tunes on it that is plug and play. they make you work for it man....kinda sucks the farkin controller for my ranger costs about 100 bucks more than what i paid for diesel tuner

its good to see the willingness of the different groups regarding assistance, if and when needed, of the other groups one would expect several groups, who all have one common goal, which is keeping riding areas open, to share ideas that have been succesful in the past. But, as seen on GD.com, all the drama played out over sb742....that is not always the reality, which is sad. -
.........thought there was a drive-thru express lane....or they had to go to the bathroom really bad.......

ASA Safety Items At Dumont
Richard Cheese replied to SandBlasted's topic in Dumont Regulations, Safety & BLM
OK..i see what you are referring to now...for lack of a better term, a pissing contest. That's what happens when 2 or more people, who are made to feel very important (read politician)are made to work together towards one common goal. The best possible scenario is collaboration between the two or more organizations, not one steamrolling the other one into submission.. :GWH: :mic: -

the ONLY reason that politics comes with those organizations, is that, to save our riding areas, unfortunately, that is the realm in which we (the duning community) has to play in look at our opposition....by themselves, the little groups, much like DDR, politically, don't have much clout, but together, there is strength in numbers. since the early '80's....central california duners have been fighting for Oceano. more and more was taken away every 3-4 years....from 15,000 acres now down to 1500 acres....just 10 percent of what used to be. it wasn't until Friends of Oceano Dunes was formed, that we were all collectively able to stand up and say ENOUGH IS ENOUGH That is what the ASA is, but on a much larger scale. And people of Dumont, you already have FoDD in place, so they are on top of the current issues, and will know in what situation to call groups like the ASA and others in for help...IF it ever comes to that and let's all hope it doesnt -
