  1. All vendors or exhibitors can get RV parking right next to the east gate. I'd be glad to smoke up the BBacks again if you can fit my rig in there next year. We'll feed you all and there will be a local place to tip a few ICAB's.
  2. DDR'ers.. We will be set up at Contingency tomorro for Dirtsports and Off-Road.com. Stop by and say hello. Cheers
  3. Bummer, too late. I have made other plans. I really wanted to tag witha vendor to get my RV into the lot adkopining the show so that we could PAR.., er I mean provide soft drinks and BBQ to the hard working vendor community. Next year!
  4. The Pope took a couple of days off to visit the mountains of Alaska for some sight-seeing. He was cruising along the campground in the Popemobile when there was a frantic commotion just at the edge of the woods. A helpless Liberal, eco-freak wearing sandals, shorts, a Save the Whales" hat, and a "To Hell with Bush" T-shirt, was screaming while struggling frantically, thrashing around trying to free himself from the grasp of a 10 foot grizzly. As the Pope watched horrified, a group of Republican loggers came racing up. One quickly fired a 44 magnum into the bear's chest. The other two reached up and pulled the bleeding, semiconscious Liberal from the bear's grasp. Then using long clubs, the three loggers finished off the bear and two of them threw it onto the bed of their truck while the other tenderly placed the injured Liberal in the back seat. As they prepared to leave, the Pope summoned them to come over. "I give you my blessing for your brave actions!" he told them. "I heard there was a bitter hatred between Republican loggers and Liberal Environmental activists but now I've seen with my own eyes that this is not true." As the Pope drove off, one of the loggers asked his buddies "Who was that guy?" "It was the Pope," another replied. "He's in direct contact with heaven and has access to all wisdom." "Well," the logger said, "he may have access to all wisdom but he sure doesn't know anything about bear hunting! By the way, is the bait holding up, or do we need to go back to San Francisco and snatch another one?
  5. Yes, you have to eb a vendor. I am pestering a few people that are vendors to help obtain the parking. I maight go to the Dunes if not.
  6. I am trying to get RV parking atthe event (lot adjoining).
  7. I have a couple of rolls of "LV Metro, Crime Scene Tape". That keeps the place secure!
  8. Thanks for the compliments on the grub. We'll be hitting Rasor Road first. Stay tuned!
  9. Jah, the damn "mudslides" did me in.. They tasted so good but were potent! You boys "sand blasted" those ribs!!!
  10. Good meeting a bunch of you. I now need to go back into recovery!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  11. Nope just rediculous wind. It's really nice right now though. 94 degrees and a light breeze.
  12. Some photos from last nights racing action.
  13. GOT PHOTOS It's hot! Here is our rig. Stop on by. If I "Pat" am not around just ask and or tell my friends that you are from DDR. Flippins Trenching is here with water trucks filling impromptu pools. WET! a break from the heat in Jesse Jones 9TT #76) camp.
  14. We are set up in the pits on the far west fence line just south of the pit access gate. The Smoker will spool up tomorrow morning. The Herbst team has a big above ground pool set up!
  15. We sat in the most expensive section last year and watched as there was zero control over where people sat or had access too. This year we were comped GA tickets by one of the event sponsors otherwise we would have bought GA.
  16. A lot of the mountain scenery was via the Durango and Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad. No Idaho Springs.
  17. Wanna real ripoff! The arse-hats at UNLV tickets want $3.75 per ticket and pit pass to order the crap on the phone or via the web. The later can't be done because the moorn's have had a broken website for a week now. Now I have to drive to Thomas and Mack to buy the tickets for my friends. I am cimitted this year but I think next year I'll do something else.
  18. Okay, I talked to the LVMS folks. The offical, overnight RV parking for the weekend is $99. The area is within easy walking distance of the midway and stands and is due west of the Pit area. You can pull in after hours and pay the next day as well.
  19. DF, thanks for the compliments on the photos. I am using a Nikon D200 and doing minor edits in the "Nikon Capture" program. The 200 fixed a lot of problems the Nikon digital SLR's had up to this point. It's the hot ticket!!! Ash, PM me and I'll give you the 411 on our route, the places we stayed/camped etc. We really liked Durango, the Black Hills of South Dakota and Joseph, Oregon. I gotta get my stint in my present Salt Mine done and I think we are blowing out of dodge sometime before I reach "well done" in this heat.
  20. I just got the first few batches of photos on-line from our 3 week 4200 mile road trip. Stops were in Grand Canyon, Durango - CO, Mt Rushmore, Yellowstone, Northern Idaho and Northeast Oregon. The scenery will definately take your mind of the 'Vegas Convection Oven we are all living in right now. Enjoy, and watch for updates. http://www.baja.net/photos/2006%20Vacation...nery/index.html
  21. Damn, this topic grew legs! I have been out on vacation and then swamped at the salt mine. Here's the scoop. There was RV parking within easy walking distance of the midway and stands last year. We parked there and there were just a few other people that stayed overnight. The fee was $100 for the whole weekend. A lot of people simply came in for the day with their rigs and tailgated in the general parking lot by the stands. This year, I am supposed to have parking in the RV area that is part of the pits. The RV's and race trailers and race vehicles are supposed to be separate. this sounds like a hassle. If the LVMS rent-a-cops hassle me or my friends we are heading to the general RV parking area in short order. I will call Eric at LVMS tomorrow for the RV parking 411 for 2006 and will post same. Friday, I am shooting (photog) the race for Dirt Sports and Off-Road.com. I'll be out and about with my safety lens on to keep me far away from the race vehicles. After the race, we will partkae in a good quantity of ICAB's whils't twisting the bench racing throttle hard. We will be cooking up a feast of smoked Baby Back Ribs and Corn on the cob Saturday afternoon. Stop on by and say hello. You will need a pit pass if we park in the special, high-zoot pit area. If not, you'll just need some donor beer in exchange for the BBR's. See you all there.
  22. Change your home warranty deal. We use Old republic and they are decent. You have to guide them and tell them what you want each time but they come through. Just got our well, booster pump replaced today for $45!!!!

I spent a good part of my young adult life in NB and HB. I met my gracious wife at Blackies by the Sea! We'll be there 8/4-8/12. We stay around 40th street and we'll be at Blackies on 8/5 in full force starting at 1500hrs. It's my 30th, 21st Birthday Party. The beer is on us.
  24. I will post info on the RV parking next week. LVMS, did not have the full scoop this week.
