  1. flyers are a good idea, if the jerks would: #1 read them #2 try to follow them. as I stated before, we can do alot to help the situation, BUT, it is up to the leos to keep the dunes in order. too bad, when they see a dangerous, stupid, speeding car, wheelie popping car, speeding in camps next to people, etc, etc--that--they cant go over and give a ticket. they can do this because they have the power to fix and take away an UNSAFE condition at the sand dunes. on big weekends they should focus on the big infractions and forget the little ones. once a jerk gets a $1000 fine, he may not want to do it again. I think when I retire, I would like to become a deputy at the dunes to do just that. I guarantee they will be alot safer. the bad apples wont return if they get hassled enough. if they dont start taking care of these jerks, we will have another glamis on hand where the hp etc come with a portable jail cell-people will start robbing and beating up rider-rampant theft-etc. I think alot of the bad apples have come from glamis to dumont so they can act and do the stuff that glamis have tried to stop. too bad I cant park next to the fingers and enjoy the dunes and riding--but no, people have to park out in the middle of nowhere to enjoy the dunes and riding. same crap, different day.

  3. me too. which do you all suggest ---3/4 or 1 ton
  4. hmmmm. this could really be helped alot if the lazy rangers would do their jobs and put an end to the racing, rebar barricades, etc. it only takes 1 leo per finger to patrol it. they had many more there doing nothing as usual. they just ride around waiting for bad to happen instead of preventing it. driver know they can do as they please since the leos wont do anything except give tickets for ridding double, rear light out or no whip. but its ok to speed 90mph across flats, pop wheelies where you cant see anyone, put up deadly barricade of rebar etc etc. yes, its getting like glamis cuz they have more leos and are trying to police better. so, alot of the bad apples are coming to dumont to show their balls. I had to move away from the crowd just to have peace of mind. the kids were running loose, driving all over, going around my camp instead of their own. great parents watching their kids. I had to shoe the kids and told them to go dust their own camps and not mine. got tired of it and just picked up toybox and moved far,far away. wasnt worth the hassle. it was a zoo out their without respect of anyone or anything. Ive never seen so many riders on the dunes without a clue of how to ride and the rules of the road. good thing I got there wed and had good riding on thurs. after that, a complete joke. to bad the sport is getting worse instead of better. the leos are going to have to start taking charge of the bad crap and forget the petty stuff or we will be in big trouble. my 2c
  5. stats are from everyday life. 95% of people are ok and the other 5% mess it up for all. there shouldnt be any controversy here. law states 15 mph within 50 feet of camps, cars, people, groups etc. that pretty well sums it up when that particular finger is crowded. if the finger is unoccupied, then haul butt. common sense prevails. nuff said, no point in going on forever. see you at the dunes this weekend. :2gunsfiring: :2gunsfiring:
  6. Yep, there are other small dunes, but since the fingers are occupied by motorhomes and children riding, etc, why not stay away and ride elsewhere? By law, if you want to be technical, since the fingers are occupied by camps and people, you CANT ride the fingers faster than 15 mph. If the rangers want to enforce it, they could. I am curious as to why you would fight against for such a small thing for safety of all. I have always riden the fingers slow just to get to the main dunes. Kids are always riding or playing on them. How about giving the kids some room to ride since alot of their machines wont climb on the big stuff and the parents can watch them from camp. I dont think it is too much to ask. 95% of the duners will find this ok with them and the, well, other 5% will always be the problem, no matter what the issue.
  7. yea, the fingers should be ridden with caution since the little kids play and ride there. isnt there enough of dumont that the fingers can be reserved for kids and little quads. Im not saying not to ride them, but do you all have to haul arse along or across them? problem is that alot of drivers still dont know when to turn it on vs turn it off! just because there is sand, does not mean it is a free-for-all. I used to park next to the fingers, but now I park in flat. got real tired of clowns jumping and speeding on the fingers. speeding and doing wheelies in the flat is nothing more than "look at me, arent I cool, check out my car, I'm bad etc etc". just my 2c since all the above wont change anyway. responsible vs irresponsible.
  8. ya, got 2 streams now and 2 messes now. the water should have been diverted higher up so the water would flow from the original stream. probably could have been done in 1/2 hour
  9. dont know the whole story, but 50' is not far enough. my deal is, why do people have to ride the fingers and speed inbetween the fingers thru the camps---when you have the entire dunes out there??? as far as Im concerned, there should be a 15MPH speed limit in the entire dumont camp area. there is no reason to go fast in the basin and camp areas. Ive seen people get killed at dumont and glamis because these safe riders are too close to camps and make a mistake. an accident-yes could it be avoided-yes. if the rangers would do their jobs and stop this crap, instead of hassling us for stickers, double riding with kids, taillights out and whip flags gone, we would be a safer community. speeders next to camps should be fined $1k a pop and this wont happen. again, Im not talking about this 1 incidence, cuz I dont know about it, but we all need to be safe and ride safe. ride fast on the dunes etc. Ive been around the dune since 1969, so Ive seen and heard it all. ride safe all.
  10. to cmyfirepole--you said you have 2 stickers. were these issued from nevada and if so, where did you get them? thanks
  11. ya ya ya thanks alot for tracking up the virgin dunes for the rest of us when it get cool enough for normals to ride
  12. there is no issue on taxes for machines prior to Jan 1,06. bikes after that date WILL have to show proof of taxes paid somewhere or no tag. you dont have to show anything for early bikes, you could just make up a bill of sale, so thats bogus. the law is only a step in the direction and more will need to be done. use oregon or idaho for your registration.
  13. they are supposed to give stickers to anyone that wants them, they are free and you dont need proof of ownership etc. what about all the used bikes out there that you buy from a private party without any paperwork etc?? anyone done this yet?
