  1. Just like most meet & greets, looks like everyone is too shy to want to say hi. haha I would join ya but I'll only be there for the day (on Thanksgiving) with family and won't have time to meet up. Post up a day & time and maybe people will join in. Usually we do them at the south pole at 2 pm on Saturday, but the south pole is becoming just as popular as the north pole so it's hard to tell who is there to meet from DDR and who just likes poles.

Right on Pete, well ill make the effort, like I said..would like to meet new riding friends and families. Keeping tradition the meet and greet will be Saturday at 2:00pm at the South Pole, My wife, my daughter and I will be there in a blue RZR. Come say Hi!

  2. Any groups out there with young kids mind another trailer in your group? Our usual group isn't coming this year so it'll be myself, my wife and our 3 yr old daughter pulling in Friday morning (28th) to Monday. Down to earth people, I'm a jet mechanic and she works for Metro. love to ride and have a beer around the fire. We'll have our hauler, RZR, and firewood. Would love to see my daughter get to play with some kids! Thanks and we'll see ya'll out there either way :)

  3. This isn't much of a trip report so I put it here in General Chat.

Took the wife and kid out to the D for the first weekend of the season (darn jobs) and had a blast. The sand was smooth especially following a big weekend and the weather was great..although still a little warm! The quad felt like a rocket under my a$$ after the top end rebuild with port job and fresh piston.

big fires, great rides, good bbq, smooth sand, and my girls with me made it a great weekend....BUT.....

What REALLY made this trip is my wife finally got sick of driving our daughter around in our old rhino and gave me the nod for the new RZR xp4 1000! :driver::rzr:

Wooo! I almost made her put it in writing haha. Now, the hunt is on!

Sorry no pics was to busy!

  4. So since the Holiday is on Tuesday this trip won't be as long as I want but it's all good. Ill be out there with the family early Saturday morning and we'll head back to Vegas Monday morning. We'll probably be close to the ridge line to the left of the Ranger station as you come in so my daughter can ride around on the harder stuff and down behind in the little trails. Feel free to stop by, hope to see you out there.

  5. Same thing as White Rhino, I take casual strolls through the dunes with my daughter who is almost 3 with her in a baby seat strapped in the back seat of a rhino with 4 point harness and 2" ratchet strap which makes it TIGHT. Talked to rangers as well they've never said a word. Been doing this since she was born. Back then she didn't have to have a helmet but with the new law they do. (everyone in a sxs does) so depending on your childs age/size it could be difficult for them to support a helmet. Have fun!

  6. Know your limits, don' try to be joe cool and push things passed your skill level...Not only does it put you at risk it puts other innocents around you at risk. It's not just you out there!

    Great thread Pete!

One thing that was said to me years ago was actually about power tools, but I apply it anywhere that I am doing anything where I can get hurt.

"The minute you get comfortable with a tool, put it down and walk away! You have now entered the area of making a mistake that can and almost certainly will hurt you!"

I feel the same goes for the dunes, and many other things for that matter. Once you become comfortable with danger, you start letting certain things slide and not paying full attention, that's when accidents happen.

Agreed, A wise man once told me when I bought my first street bike at 18...The second this bike doesn't scare you, sell it. Now by no means am I saying sell your toys..but never think you're invincible, a little fear is ok, it keeps your alert and doesn't let you get complacent. Be safe guys and girls! Live to ride another day...
