ltr450rider Posted November 19, 2008 Posted November 19, 2008 So bigtruckdrmr and myself took a couple of days off for ourselves and I surprised her with a trip to Catalina Island. Spared no expense. Stayed at the Glenmore Plaze hotel right in town and walked to all the eateries and bars for happy hour and football. It was nice being there sunday through tuesday, practically no one there but the locals. I'm sure we brought down the averge age by a good 25 years though. Here are some pics. A Little smokey leaving Longbeach. about 3 miles from the island. Thin haze of smoke on the water. Hotel room and view. Happy hour sunset drinks along the water monday night. Cruise ship anchored tuesday made for a busy morning at all the shops along the water. Getting back on the boat to head home. About 200 dolphins playing in the wake, wish I had a nice SLR camera with zoom to get these guys jumping. Still pretty smokey in L.B.C. Quote
ltr450 Posted November 19, 2008 Posted November 19, 2008 That place is great for diving..It's like 100 ft visibility all the time Quote
Jakster884 Posted November 19, 2008 Posted November 19, 2008 Looks like a great time, Catalina is a nice spot to chill. I guess you can call it smoke. It looks more like the usual layer of smog.. Quote
Sincity_blondie Posted November 20, 2008 Posted November 20, 2008 Looks like you guys had a great time Sean. Thanks for sharing the pics. How long did it take you to get there on the shuttle? Catalina was one of the stops on the cruise I went on in 2005. Was beatiful. Took the little boat over to the island. We rented a golf cart and drove all over the island and up to the top, was awesome. Hope to get back over there some day!! Quote
indasand Posted November 20, 2008 Posted November 20, 2008 Looks like a great time.... We've always wanted to go but end up staying at the Del and partying in the gas lamp district every time we go to Ca. Quote

Thanks for sharing the pics. How long did it take you to get there on the shuttle? 1 hour. Very nice ride too. The sea's were calm matey, arrrgh! Quote
Free Agent Posted November 20, 2008 Posted November 20, 2008 The Cats are the best way to cross the channel. Boat rentals can be found on the pier, and a run to the east end light is a great adventure tooE Excellent pix. Nice that you posted them. Quote
