Man, it's been a rough day. Just one of many to come too. Things are not going to be the same without Bert around. He is pretty much the reason I got addicted to duning. I feel like it's the end of an era.
These were a few years ago in Glamis. We all must have done 50 wheelies off this lip. It was a ton of fun that day.
And this one hangs in my kitchen- It was the first picture I took that made it into a magazine. I hung it for pride that I made a magazine, Now it hangs in memory of a lost friend.
One thing I will never forget is his smile. Quirky smile but if fit him perfect and will be hard not seeing it again. I was one of the breakdown victims that Bert came to the rescue. He chased a bad ground in Talladega bowl and we fixed it enough to get back to camp. Not too many people out there just jump right in and help out and not expect anything in return. We can/should all learn from this man that its not about getting something in return but just helping out and doing the right thing.
Here are a couple of pics I could find from a trip we took down to San Diego to race our RC Cars at Phatdad's track.
Bert checking out the broken shackle on the return trip home.
Bert in his big a$$ chair. Made him look like a kid.
I'll miss all the good times from Campcoe to DDR! You will be missed my friend. May you R.I.P. Keep tearing up them dunes in heaven.
Our thoughts are most definitely with Ashley, the kids, family and friends. We will remember Bert as he was. Just an all
around good guy.
I think the first run of the upcoming Dune season ought to be dedicated to Bert? A little early but would rather remember him in one of his happy places?
