  1. The tires that came on our Toy Hauler were showing signs of tread separation at 1100 miles so we went in for new. I check tire pressure every leg of our trips it’s essential. Americas / Discount talk us into Carlisle’s, “they are making them better” they told us. The new and Improved Carlisle’s grenaded in about 240 miles. Same day I bought them: This the first leg of a 40 day off roading trip . I found a truck tire shop and I put on 14 ply steel to save the trip and we moved on. Friends with similar TH’s all have made the move to 14 ply. China made was all the desert tire shop had in G rated 14 ply and they assured me they were good. 15000 miles later they are experiencing tread separation and took the trim with it. So so today I moved up to American made GoodYear 14 ply Steel. Supposed to be the best I hear: Lets see. A DDR tire test.
  2. If you're talking the X3 can your toy hauler or trailer accommodate the length? The 4 seat owners I talk to went the extra expense and had the recommended Fox shock settings done and claim they like them. That raises it about 4" and that'll change the appearance and handling somewhat. Excellent ride quality and a bit less chance of high centering but center of gravity goes up. That's several thousand dollars to have it done, or you can do it yourself. If you have kids the 4 seat should be seriously considered. Great for Desert and dunes but it'll have issues on mountain trail switchbacks is the consensus amongst the duners we roll with.
  3. The Stage was maybe 500 ft from where we were and we really had no problem with it but it eventually blocked the thoroughfare, it got narrower and narrower and vehicles had a tough time turning around. Then a guy doing wheelies slammed into the back of an LT car in front of us and things started to heat up. Early at Comp before the stage arrived: Our girls waded into the Rave crowd and I did get concerned for their safety but it was all cool, no issues. Felt bad they made them leave. Everyone was having fun. Just as the stage arrived looks empty now but comp soon filled up and it was slammed around the stage with people and vehicles all having fun and laughs. 15 minutes before the stage arrived. Older drunks were hitting on the younger girls and it was funny as the girls sent them on their way. One guy had a mouth of chaw and a cigar and a spit cup. Thought he was cool and the girls let him have it. All laughs, funny, no feelings hurts. Next day the exodus: For some odd reason our X3 was in for the water pump issue and the dealer thought they do us a favor by relocating the Sound system's power off the ignition. When parked the ignition times out in 3 minutes so forget that. Plus the hour meter is running. Engine running the X3 is easily the noisiest SXS on the market. I'm not talking exhaust note, these things sound like the chuck wagon in the cowboy movies pots and pans banging across the plains, just add the sirens of hell intake air noise. No owner will argue that so forget even listing to tunes while driving and our system is 8 Kickers, 2 subs, 2 amps. They did the same with my Tijuana speaker lights too. So no tunes this trip, but an appointment at the dealer to get it all reversed. I mention this as a heads up to anyone with an X3 that is considering a sound system. I was cautioned not to do it myself. I heed warnings. Connect it to the hot block, not the ignition.
  4. Free standing diesel pumps at the second Horizon Market next to Who's Dunes Bar on the 178 heading outta town. https://www.google.com/maps/uv?hl=en&pb=!1s0x80c637e5dac69b33:0x4bd317e4bf7b636a!2m22!2m2!1i80!2i80!3m1!2i20!16m16!1b1!2m2!1m1!1e1!2m2!1m1!1e3!2m2!1m1!1e5!2m2!1m1!1e4!2m2!1m1!1e6!3m1!7e115!4shttps://lh5.googleusercontent.com/p/AF1QipNoLf8WvDR9iiIJZ0nELXxYZGKfONePlzR_Pxns%3Dw86-h87-n-k-no!5shorizon+market+pahrump+nevada+-+Google+Search&imagekey=!1e10!2sAF1QipNoLf8WvDR9iiIJZ0nELXxYZGKfONePlzR_Pxns# Easy, no drama propane fill there too.
  5. We had a guy spreed through our spot almost hit one child and a mom and the girls.. Angry parents caught up to him and he got his mullet brushed back.
  6. Ahhh yeah I forgot that. That's important. Kurtis knocked out the fix in about 30 minutes after picking up the parts. I tell people "It's not as bad as it looks." They never believe me. Helping people in this pickle is essential. Most are lost, dazed and confused as what to do.
  7. We had the Honda i2000 and it has 1000's of hours on it. Couldn't quite run the microwave unless most everything else was turned off. Finally, it suffered the dreaded oil leak from a crack in the crankcase the older models are subject to. We bought the Honda i2200 and it's much improved. Can run the microwave with other RV electronics running, not the AC of course. Excellent generator. Runs over 8 hours 1/4 load. They improved the gas fill neck and oil drain and a gas shut off, a BFD. It's heavier more iron and copper on the winding but manageable. Easily accommodates the girls blow dryers and other electrical gizmos they run in the bathroom. Use a thick dia cord hooking it to your RV. Makes a difference. The HF Predator 2000 is worth a look. Priced right. Check the You Tube videos on the demons you may encounter if the Predator is considered. Especially the Predator 3500. Campers are having generally good experiences with both and they really are quiet. Friend Fernando just bought the 3500 and experienced the air starvation issue. I gave him a handful of 1" dia Uni plug filters and that solved the problem when installed in the housing. Drill 1" holes they pop in. It runs his 1500 btu AC with ease and is very quiet. Priced right. We have the Handi i3000 and it's great. Grudgingly will run the AC. We have the Honda i3000 as well and it'll run the 15000 BTU RV AC if not too hot a day and it's in the shade. Others we camp with experience the same. They may over heat and shut down or separate from the load. It has slightly more power than the Handi 3000.
  8. Hold that thought. It's a good trick with most vehicles especially if they go into walk mode.
  9. Kurtis, our friend in another camp from Down Under Taco'd his Rzr in a bowl near the North Pole. His fellow campers, (except Drew) abandon him and went back to camp for dinner. We happened by and got him disassembled, ratcheted up and Fernando drove his Rzr back to camp and I got this video. The next day Kurtis went into town and got all the parts needed to get back on the dunes again.
