  1. Ya I know i complain non stop, all while having a great time Ive always been like that,i come by it honestly. You guys act like this was the first time we met Atleast im consistent and you know what to expect. Well yesterday was awesome, even though i cant figure out my bike cutting out it was more than running good enough for the dune rides which were smooth as hell. That was a really nice day considering i expected it to be sweltering hot.The wind kept the temps down enough to make it more than manageable. After driving down the road out i think my spine needs to be realigned. That was rediculous I wasnt even sore until we drove down that road.Lots of good laughs all day long.Overall an awesome day!!Couldnt have spent it with a better group.
  2. Memorial i may be traveling to one of the Sand Mountains.Either Utah or Nevada.Im leaning towards Utah right now.I will most likely make a scorching day trip for a few hours for some tuning to Dumont.Maybe this weekend.Kinda playing it by ear. Also I plan on making the night drags at Dumont.Ive spent alot of $$ and time on this project and really want to go riding soon.
  3. No,i had a fireball axle before. They just arent very good quality.I had broken it before. The jjanda is known for its durability and comes with a lifetime no questions asked warranty. Those wheels are the same ones ive always had.As far as the kickstart and high comp,it wont be a problem at all.All my buddy's YFZ's have 14-1 comp with kickstart.Besides that i have plenty of a$$ to kick it over I know a guy who raced his YFZ in the Pismo endurance race with the jjanda axle and it held up no problem,so i feel pretty confident with this one.I will have it running here real soon.I think its gonna rip.
  4. ....KBR....Mine still has full brakes,Elkas, and light output.I went with a kickstart though this time and put a JJandA play axle on.It 100% duneable but light still.
  5. Right on.Going to a full drag setup? What all have you done so far?
  6. how is that thing running now anyway?Im almost done with mine.It should be up and running by the weekend. Never do a rebuild,i thought i would just powdercoat and ended up with a new frame and completely new motor. Its very very close. My parts should be here today.Sporting a 480 now.Hope it works. We shall see Ill post up pics when its complete.I got a new 06 head with some sweet porting done specifically for the bigbore.
  7. If your are mechanically inclined at all,its a very easy thing to do yourself.all you are paying for is for them to roll the exhaust cam back one tooth. Its really easy.take the cam cover off..set the cams at top dead center with the flywheel marks and see how the dots on the cams line up with the edge of the head. You take the cam tensioner and release the tension off the cam chain.Take the cam caps off.line the marks up on the fly wheel with the marks on the inspection hole.line up the intake dot on the intake cam with the surface of the head and set the exhaust one tooth above the surface of the head.the intake cam should have the dot almost even with the head and the exhaust cam dot should be just above the surface of the head. When its in the stock position both line up even with the surface of the head.it might sound like alot of work but its really easy.make sure you torque the cam journals back down to yamaha's specs. Here is a link with videos on how to do it.Save your money. Its really really easy. Cam-Mod How To Vids
  8. dnchevyman, this is way off the topic but everytime i see your avatar i think 2 things.Sweet tattoo and damn that freakin farmers tan is rediculous!!! :shout:
  9. And how did you determine Hondas have the BEST motor. Some of the things you guys say are so rediculous. All the my Honda has never lost to a yfz or my yfz has never lost to this or that. You sound like idiots.Maybe you should get out more often.Every bike has its perks and its downsides. All bikes can be MADE to go fast. The YFZ is a bike that is very easy to get to be fast without any internal mods, maybe the easiest. The TRX can be made to go fast also but most likely will need cams, carb etc etc..The EFI bikes are most likely the future of the sport, but for us old schoolers the carb setup suits us well and we understand it.Every bike has different characteristics and shine in certain areas better than others. It all depends on what you want to do.Im a Yamaha guy and always have been so it will always be an easy choice for me.If you arent partial to certain makes your choice is a little harder to make.Every guy that has a Honda thinks his is fastest, prettiest, best riding, and same with the YFZ and LTR owners. It all is just personal preference.Do your homework and research your bikes before you buy it.The worst thing you can do is rely on some of us to make your choice :smoker: Good Luck with what you buy.All the race style 4 strokes these days are pretty nice and you cant really go wrong with any of them.
  10. im so tired of these corporate owned bike shops.Full of ignorant a$$ parts people that dont have a clue what is happening. If the computer doesnt tell them what they need they are lost. Its pathetic.I dread ever needing a part here in town.Hmmmm call the local shop or get an ice cold enema Ice Cold Enema Please
  11. Banshees make incredible horsepower, and for having a motor design that is from the 70's its amazing they are still so damn fast.I still think it will be a really long time before a oem 4 stroke will take out a Banshee. The only one ive seen do it is turbo, nitrous 4 cylinder 3 and 4 hundred horspower custom frame bikes.Im just not a 2 stroke fan,i like my 4 stroke, its fast enough for me.
  12. The key was actually stolen from the house. Then they took them and thought they had them rekeyed but they only made new keys for the same ignition. They only discovered this after the one was gone. They were kept in the garage, but they had to put a boat in the garage so for one day they were on the side of the house locked up with a huge lock. That was cut with bolt cutters in broad daylight and ridden off into the nieghborhood.Alot of kids witnessed this person riding off on it.I suspect it was local young guys in the nieghborhood. If they knew for one day they were outside, seems like they had been watching,or it was a friend of someone who lives in the neighborhood where it was stolen from.
  13. It was stolen from Smitty's sister. If they were dumb enough to ride off on it with no helmet thru the neighborhoods,im sure it wont be long before they slip up again. They think its some local teenagers.Just keep an eye out for some shady bastards trying to off a 700r for cheap. Thanks guys, aaron
  14. A friend of mine had a new bone stock white Raptor 700 stolen from the Foothill High School area in Henderson yesterday afternoon around 2:30pm.The thief was desribed as a male with a tan skin tone, shaved head, and wearing a sleeveless shirt. The guy did this in broad daylight,so if you saw some idiot riding this thing like a maniac threw the neighborhoods it was most likely him.If you have any information or know who might have done this call me @702-274-1640.....keep your eyes open for someone selling it with little knowledge about it,a dirt cheap price thats too good to be true,or any suspicious people trying to off a new Raptor. The idiot might be dumb enough to ride it around. Thanks for any help.....Aaron
  15. Because the stock axle weighs around 25lbs,and an aluminum drag axle weighs about 11lbs.Believe it or not it makes a tooth difference in gearing. When i switched to the x-33 from the drag axle i had to go up a tooth on the rear to stay in the same rpm range i was at before with the aluminum and a 14-39 gearing. So with 22" triple buffs you will want to be at a 14-40 on your gearing with a heavy axle. With a light drag axle you will want to be at a 14-39.Or if you really want to get crafty you can go with a 15-42.
  16. Trust me you DONT need a 13 in the front.with a stock axle,and 22" 72 rollout haulers 14-40 will work great.
  17. Wellllllll im 240lbs and with my aluminum axle stockbore built bike i was running 14-39 with 22" 7 cup triple buffs pulling 4th hard. When i got the x-33 axle i went to a 14-40.So if you are on a stock axle you might want to run a 14-40.By the way the X-33 is for sale if anyone wants it.PM me offers if interested.
  18. i wouldnt go to a 13 in the front thats too drastic.i would go with a 14-39,or 14-40...As far as the dyno at powerhouse my friend dyno'ed his 06 YFZ there a while back with esr intake, pulse charger pipe, cam mod and -4 flywheel and it made 48 or 49hp just for reference.Dirty Dyk i think you are confused on the hp reading.Maybe it was you celica gt that made 62hp :mc_smiley: As far as bolt on bikes go ESR bolt on setup,or Ron Woods bolt on set up will work great for sure.Ive seen many YFZ'z back in the day running these setups with great results. However if you go the cheaper route withe the ESR intake i highly suggest porting it.I.E. reshaping that horrible transition at the turn on the aluminum collar with either epoxy which i used or JB weld stick. It helps for sure. The turn is very rough right there.
  19. No,I wish i could...Have fun out there...I bet the sand will be niiiiiice
  20. I thought you wanted to race for titles?Ill keep my DASA carb. The only thing im wondering is how your 62HP build does on the hill.Everyone on here knows im at the hill a ton,and ive never seen your bike. With 62 ponies it would stand out quite a bit.
  21. Now if you REALLY want your bike to run hard.Start with a good intake.I would suggest one of the following...An FCI,Ron Woods,or Ported ESR...Pipes i would suggest...Sparks Big Core,ESR Pro,Ron Woods,Nmotion....Cam Mod....or if you are running aftermarket cams Web +5's are an awesome drop in cam setup....Carbs....Bore your stocker with Sredrum off YFZtech anywhere from a 40mm all the way to a 43.5mm.......40 for a stock head or 43mm for a ported head....Porting on a budget contact KBR off YFZTECH or more $$$ call KENZ or MMAD on TECH......High compression piston if you dont mind running race gas 14-1 Black Widow from KBR is very nice or Nils with Velocity Racing makes a 14 or 15-1 compression....Then when you are done blowing the kids college fund on your motor you will need some tires. The best all around drag, duning tire is the STU Padla Brats Comp Cut on 8x7 wheels...Or you can go with some 21x12x8 6-7 cup ultra light haulers....You will also be needing some lighter front tires too....Call Joe at Fullerton Sandsports....In a nutshell $300 isnt going to get you far....Being fast is expensive....A gret bolt on bike proven time and time again consists of this.....ESR Pro Series pipe,ESR ported intake,Cam Mod,40mm bored stock carb,6 cup Padla Brats Comp Cut,and a can of U4....Many have run this with incredible results for a bolt on bike...Good Luck
