  1. bob if you ever pull a trip together count me in!
  2. Keep it coming! Reports from the sand are the best. Love that virgin sand!
  3. All Valley RV. They know about everything. Its going back in Wednesday for another round of repairs. I will say again, they have been top notch in all of this. Heartland is the one that seems to really not care.
  4. The shower leaks. They cant figure out where its coming from so they are taking the entire shower out next time its in. An entire other issue with the front landing jack, the hole for the manual crank does not line up. so if the electric doesnt work, you are completely stuck cause the manuals wont work either. Still waiting for the OK from the factory to get the body work done so it will line up. heard the factory was pissed when the service dept gave them the estimate. Too many other little problems to even know where to start. :argue:
  5. we have the 2008 model. love the rig and the layout, dont get me wrong, but there has been some problems and basically i dont feel comfortable taking the rig out.. right now we are dealing with the landing jacks. i have not been impressed with heartlands factory support at all, matter of fact they plain suck. we are almost at the point of telling the lawyer to push ahead for the buyback. which she says we will win for sure. just so you know on the other hand, my dealer and repair department have been top notch. the factory is the ones who dropped the ball too many times. now after getting in real good with the guys at the shop, they let me know the heartland always gets checked in with the most problems. hauler goes back in the shop next week for a second motor to be added to the landing jacks. it only has one motor, they hope adding a second motor will hopefully reduce the "clutching" sound thats happening. imagine being out at dumont, end of your trip. go to put the 20,000 pound pig back on your truck. and the landing gear starts slipping. :argue: would i buy a heartland again? no. i am pulling it with a 350 dually. 430 rear end. it pulls it real well. although i am right at the legal limit for my truck. gonna be getting a semi to pull it with if i decide to keep it. if you do pull, make sure you have your class a license if you live in cali.
  6. One of the best trips I have had out there. A big thanks to bob and the crew for having us back out. You are good people. Notes: Had an amazing time. Being one of the only few playing on the dunes, is awesome. Especially after the wind blows. After following bob and his trench digger for a couple days. Your bones start to hurt. That being said, I think I am in the market for a short sand car hoping that will suck up the ruts a bit better. good meeting up with dunefreak. been blessed with good camps, hope the trend continues. the only way to top a trip, is go on another. so i went home, switched out the rail and went quadding for a few days. Happy New Year everyone!!! Its going to be a good one!
  7. Another kick butt day. everyone in camp was slow to get riding this morning. so me and the little lady decided to take the grand tour. we headed over to the little dunes, then back to the south pole, then over to the north pole. all the while duning it up and catching some killer rythms on the sand. finally met dunefreak today.....good to finally meet you pete. starting to get too choppy out there for me and the beam car. might just pack it up tomorrow and call it the day. o what a great trip its been.
  8. The ole timers name was John. The Doghouse, Mikey the repair guy, The Pit Stop, and the Funnel Cake guy are about the only vendors. the rest look like they are getting ready for next weeks rush.
  9. CV is fixed and car is back up and running. You got the big thumbs up to come join us tomorrow.
  10. Couldnt ask for a much better day. Sand was ultra smooth. bob said it was eary smooth. the weather is perfect, wind quit blowing, temp is 43 degress. went on some really great rides today with barefoot bob in the lead. he picked some really great lines. not many people out here, maybe ten full camps at most. had one little scrape today. the kids in camp were riding a hill right behind us. and from what i can gather, a quad (not from our camp) jumped the hill, hitting one of the kids quads. everyone was fine. broke a tie rod, and bent the caliper of the quad. no pictures till i get back. forgot the data cord at home. on the last ride before dark captain kllm decided to break a cv. they are working on fixing that right now. thats about it for today. time to kick back some cold ones. :xmas1:
  11. yep red razr....that was him. i will pass on the word now. captain just pulled in about 30 mins ago with bob on the way.
  12. No it wasnt him. I saw him early morning. Pretty sure this was someone just out here. He had a cooler in the back. He just cruised the flats real slow occaisonally picking up trash.
  13. The wind is doing its job. Its a clean slate out there. Me and the ole timer are the only rail tracks on the sand. :mc_smiley: We had 4 quads riding with us, saw another 4 pack out there. One guy on a nice atv. And one guy that stayed on all the flats all morning in a rhino type ride.....he was picking up trash. And well thats about it. I will try to post pics later. :xmas4:
  14. I think we should have enough bob. no worries. I am sure I have at least 2 nights worth. just woke up, its 44 degrees outside. wind still kicking pretty good, not as bad as yesterday. really hoping it dies down soon. went on a super kick butt ride yesterday before dark. hooked back up with the ole timer. he told me to lead and i got a a super good rythym there for a while. felt like ballet on the sand. :mc_smiley:
  15. Its the air filter. I was messin round this morning thought I would check out the air filter..... And its not there. on the top of the filter box its says "FTE" and its around 4 1/2 inches long, by 2 1/2. Not sure if that will help. Its a volkswagen engine. I made a makeshift filter that should last. So dont make a big deal of it and run somewheres out of that way. If anything I will get it from Phil. Cant believe i didnt have an airfilter. geeeez Wind is kicking up really strong. Done riding for now till it dies down. Hooked up with an ole timer out here and we took a pretty good spin. Thanks for the help everyone, it is sincerely appreciated. Duners rock!!!!! And.....
  16. Thank you pete. I am thinking there is a draw somewhere on the battery. Just gonna leave the battery unhooked when not riding. Should make it the rest of the trip. Just got back from a morning ride. Sand is really soft, with just a thin film of wetness. Was a very nice ride and about to go do it again. Temp is 58 degrees. Winds starting to blow pretty good. Anyone know if doghouse will be our here this weekend? Need to get a filter for my buggy.
  17. No, it will jump. For some reason the battery goes completely dead. It was fully charged last night, but dead now. This is the second new battery this season.
  18. shiznit. tried to crank the buggy and a no go. this happened to me last trip and thought it was the battery, so have a new one in there. it has a good ground. maybe its a short??? anyone have any ideas? this totally suxors.
  19. Woooohooo I made it!!! I figured if Pete doesnt mind I will give a little report everyday in this thread. Stopped by Valero's last night to do some filling up. Asked to by the season pass, didnt have it. Had to get a weekly. I told the guy there that they were supposed to have it, he said he hadnt heard a thing. So not sure whats up with that. I also decided to leave my gas cap on top of the pump, so now sitting here without a gas cap on my hauler. Hey bob if you are klm can swing me one out I will reimburse. Road coming in is a bit choppy and washed, but not to bad. I hugged the left side on the way in and that seemed to do the trick for most of the ride in. The river crossing had just a little water running over it, not bad at all. The reported soft sand after the rangers station going up the hill, looked like it had gravel laid down over it. So that wasnt bad. When we pulled into our camp area, they had the coyote welcoming comittee here. I did a couple circles trying to get my bearings, darn coyote stayed out in front of my truck lights doing circles with me. My girl didnt want to get out of the truck cause she was spooked by that. There is only about 10 rigs out here from what I can tell. Pretty much have the place to ourselves as of now. The wind is starting to pick up today as forecasted, and suppose to get some rain. We shall see. Time to unload the buggy and go do a little site seeing. Safe duning!
  20. woohoo i made it. got the spot for us bob. i was thinking of doing the same thing as you.......going home for a couple days then coming back out for the new years.
  21. I am in, I will be there already. If anyone is camping there the weekend and if you dont mind some company please let me know. Even if you dont want to camp, at least let me hook up with you for some rides.
