captn, the permit is good for 6 months after you pass the written test. For me, its just a matter of finding the time to go to make the appt and go the Compton DMV for the driving test. i still have a little time left.

on the non- commercial class A for Cali, i heard and was told 100 different things, DMV even gave me the wrong info. I went to a CHP office and asked the people that would be writing me the ticket what the law was, i am over weight so, i am getting a non-commmercial class A. Currently waiting to take the driving test. its cheap and worth the time.

hope you dont mind me answering big daves question. you have to have a non-commercial calss A if you tow the following: travel trailer weighing over 10,000 lbs or with triple axle, 5th- wheel weighing over 15,000 lbs. regardless of the tow vehicle.

great weekend! weather was awesome! went out about 9 saturday and sunday. saturday wasnt bad, sunday we picked up 5 bags of trash.

I picked up the letters Sunday afternoon. Did not take pictures as we forgot the camera. Adoptaussolidier.org found a Platoon SGT deployed out of FT.Bliss, TX that has asked for letters of support for his platoon(over half his platoon does not have family). I will send some of the letter to SSG Gonzales and the remaining I will take take to Lori.

Sorry to hear about your dog. You came by our camp saturday and told me about her being lost. We kept an eye out but didnt see anything. Really hope you find her.

I personally started another post with a trash challenge to all members in November and I have read many posts on the trash issue at comp. Everyone takes time to go to the meet and greet on staurday. Lets start a new tradition to not only meet new people but help keep our beloved Dumont clean and open! We all know comp will be packed at night so this means tons of trash in the morning! Friday, Saturday and Sunday I will be out at comp about 8:30-9:00ish (depends on how many beers the night before) Would love to see more people take an hour out of the day and help!

I have the AFLAC accident insurance on top of my regular medical insurance. It is great and can be set up to come out of your pay check( pre tax dollar).

Ok! I have heard a lot of big talk about picking up trash and we need more clean up days, etc... including myself after Halloween. So, a few in our group decide to do somthing about it. We went out to comp hill Friday and Saturday mornings and picked up trash. On friday we had two( made a total of 5 people) BLM guys join in and we filled 1, 35 gallon bag and the back of the rhino. We found bottles, nails, metal brackets in fire pits. Saturday we did the same and filled 2, 35 gallon bags and the back of a rhino. Saturday morning we found half burnt chairs, bottles, nails, you name it we found it. The part that really gets is, the people that asked why i was doing it and the people that drove by and looked at me like I was a dumpster diver!! Thank you to a "couple" people that picked up stuff and put in our bags. I want our kids kids to enjoy the same dunes we love so much. It wont happen if we leave them looking like a dump!! So I CHALLENGE all DDR members to go out each morning before your morning ride or before breakfast and pick up some trash. Hope to see more of you New Years weekend.

doghouse has always treated me well. for all of you that b#@# about the cost of parts in the dunes, think about this, its a business with overhead its not a free spot in the dirt for the vendors to sale overpriced parts. Venodor fees, fuel, TAXES, shall i go on! if you dont like paying the extra(convenience) cost, get a bigger trailer and take your own parts!!

it's not only at Comp. The camp next to us (along first finger dune)left trash all over when they left sunday morning! It comes down to respect for the dunes and others. This camp was out of control all weekend. So why would anyone think they would have respect for our dunes! Over the years of duning i have been in serveral altercations over asking people to pick up trash(bottles) at comp hill, so much so that we now sit on the small dune at the back of comp and watch from a distance. These people will just move on to another location if dumont is closed! They dont care and will never care and they are raising thier children to do the same! Watched kids at north pole throw trash on the ground and the parents didnt say anything! ok, off my soap box! Thanks to all the GREAT camps that welcomed our kids and passed out candy, it was awesome!

it sounds more like an electrical problem. check voltage and amp draw on gen with ac is off and then with ac on. good luck
