It's been a great season but sadly it's time to close it out. Here's my video from our last trip over Easter weekend! Best viewed on the big screen.

Yeah super convincing. All 300 posts.

We got hit by a bunch of low life spammers this morning posting garbage to the site. I had to delete a few hundred posts and ban a ton of new accounts. If you guys see any spam please report it using the flag as spam option or pm/email me.
Big thanks to @raspadoofor the heads up text this morning!

Have someone turn the water heater on while you are outside at the water heater. See if you can hear the gas valve open when it starts its cycle. If it does, then see if the igniter is sparking. I've replaced just about every component on mine over the years. lol Gas valve, ignitor and board. All very things are pretty common failures and easy to replace. Not very expensive either. You just need to troubleshoot it.

As promised, here's the 2nd video from our tour of Dumont where we ride out to the Salt Creek Hills and explore the mines. If you've never been out there, it's a fun little adventure and a great way to break up a long weekend. You can get there with paddle tires too. Enjoy the video!

Thanks guys!

Anna and I were out there a couple weeks ago enjoying having the dunes all to ourselves and I decided to put together a little tour of all the popular landmarks. Grab a beer and enjoy it on the big screen!

Click the extended weather forecast on the weather tab. It looks nice except a couple possibly windy days.

The dunes have dried out from the recent and were extra "slidey". Super fun weekend. The weather was nice...almost 70 degrees on Saturday. There were a few camps there and I think 1 or 2 vendors. It was super nice and quiet. We did see an ambulance on the entrance road but never heard what that was all about. No breakdowns or issues in our group. It was a great weekend. Our sunset ride was one of those perfect rides! I captured some cool shots with the drone. I should have some video to share soon. im getting the 10 and the max lens mod thanks to you LOL. what mounts are you using on the car?
Haha you won't regret it. The footage is worth it.
Front mount: just a sticky GoPro mount on the roof
Rear mount: cage mount with the GoPro adapter on it. It's a pretty stout roll bar mount made by Eyeofmine but I don't think they're in business anymore. I'll get a picture and post it. They are basically light rigging clamps (like this) with a small L bracket and GoPro tripod adapter mounted on it.

What model GO Pros are you using?
A GoPro 9 and a 10 (basically the same camera). I'm using a GoPro Max lens mod on each camera. That gives it more stabilization plus full horizon lock. It works awesome for dune videos to really show the angle of the dunes and the car especially when sidehilling.

We pulled in Thursday night and there was nobody out there. The temps were a little chilly but the fire leaf blower got the fire going nice and hot because all our firewood was wet.
Friday was the duning day. Lou has been chasing a brake issue and lost his brakes on a dune run. That was fun! He almost ran into me but luckily found somewhere to go rather than my car. lol
He peeled off and went back to camp to get it fixed while we hung out on the dune overlooking the camp area. I think we counted about 20-30 camps. Very empty for MLK weekend. I think the weather scared everyone away.
We played around on the ATCs for a bit.
Later in the day we went out for a sunset ride and stopped in the middle of the dunes.
Saturday was a total bust. If we were motivated enough in the morning we could have squeezed one in but we didn't make it out. We put the covers on the cars and prepped for the rain which came about noon. Chad's car looked like a limp Oscar Meyer weiner car. LOL
The rain came and we didn't leave camp all day. It was a nice, lazy day inside Chad's motorhome watching movies.
On Sunday it was pretty nice. Still overcast as hell and gloomy-looking but decent temps and no W. The sand was soaking wet. We went for an easy, don't break the trans, dune run.
Later in the day we finally rolled out. The Amargosa river was flowing really well. I haven't seen that much water out there ina while. The crossing was still very passable though.
Overall it was a nice, chill weekend. I know MLK weekend isn't very busy but it was empty this year. I wasn't mad about that. Great trip. Nothing broke and I'm stoked to get back out asap.

I don't believe so. They stopped doing them a couple of years ago due to lack of interest and participation.

Anyone heading out for MLK? Looks like the weather may hold out with the only chance of rain being Saturday night (50%). Highs around 60 and lows in the 40s. Sounds like duning weather to me.

That wet sand can be tricky. Glad nobody in your group got hurt. Thanks for sharing!
What do you have planned for the off season?

We will be hitting St Anthony again in July and have a handful of other general travel trips already planned as well as a whole bunch of laketime at Mead, Mohave and Havasu.
What does everyone have planned for this summer?
