  1. ah a look back to the old days... my first trip out to dumont dunes I was 7, riding a 230cc yamaha timberwolf... and yes, it could make it to the top of the face dunes, with a lot of work... then again, in those days it was rare to see a single LEO out there... back when vendor row consisted of maybe 2 trailers selling cheep t-shirts and possibly a tire patch kit... back when the hard pack was nothing but scrub brush... ah those were the days, lawlessness ruled the land, but a busy weekend was no more than 2 or 3 times the normal off weekend out there now during normal riding season... man how the times have changed... thank goodness I havent had any kids yet, well, that i know of...
  2. watchin it right now, and all i gotta say is its good comedy... watching all the people who do dumb stuff is kinda funny... I've been going there for years and still get a kick out of all the people who do things that are obviously illegal and think its ok. the night time stuff is the greatest because it does portray exactly how it is out by comp at night. Kinda crazy but lots of fun. I wish it was september again! gotta get the shee runnin and gotta get to the sand!
  3. I get about 14 towing my 32' patio hauler with my old ford F350 MT444 international. and i get about 18-19 empty, but I drive like an old person (55 on the freeway). but I ride my bike most days in town so i get over it, but this 3.70 stuff is gettin old quick
  4. sweet pics, would have loved to been out there this weekend, but the guys I was planning on going with and myself were not too sure about the riding with the wind advisory going on. anyway, will be trying again next weekend.
  5. fine then, you want pics, heres some pics. front red cylinders back
  6. S&M motorsports just hooked me up with all the parts and cylinder work on my Banshee, top notch guys there, quick turnaround also. Contact Matt Ortiz at 702 565-4193, their store is located behind the huey's mart on boulder highway just south of sunset. actual address is 411 Mark Leany Dr. Ste A Henderson, NV 89011 this is a new shop location for these guys so it might be a bit messy but they will take care of you.
  7. just finished the banshee's topend rebuild today, such a sweet smell, 2 stroke exhaust and race gas. Now i just gotta do a few more heat cycles and re-torque everything. Sunday March 2, i'll be gettin the shee out to dumont so anyone thats out there feel free to stop by, I'll be the black/red banshee with the Red cylinders.
  8. i'm gonna be out there on the 2nd. let me know if you want to re-schedule a few of my friends should be going wind advisory in canceling this trip... will try again next weekend
  9. tax refunds rule, i finally am able to get the banshee back up and running. maybe nextyear's will be better and i can do some suspention work and maybe a little more motor work. nice addition to the duning crue.
  10. FREEKIN AWESOME, except for all the breakdowns in my camp... 1. lost the waterpump impeller in my banshee overheating it-lost piston due to overheat 2. buddies raptor350 starter dead 3. no extra quads in camp 4. YFZKyle didnt come by camp till I was packing to leave today (sunday) 5. Comp + Banshee Hill rule, the nightlife is just insane and i love it cant wait till i can afford to go again $500 aint easy to pull out of my arse every time i wanna go ride for a weekend, even harder now that i gotta rebuild the topend + replace waterpump.
  11. looks like if i can get the money together ill just be trading this banshee off for another one from Steve Abbot at ATV cycle sports... he's got a few around there that are awesome, its just getting 2-3k together thats gonna be tough.
  12. went up to Armagosa today to check it out, and i gotta say dumont is better, and only about 20 miles farther... so i dont think ill be goin back there again... anyway, made 2 passes up their Comp hill and my transmission took a dump (no not just the clutch, its locked in 1st gear) gonna have to split the cases and re-build the dang trans... and while im there i might as well do the upgrades i was planning on doing next summer, the down side is scraping up the funds and still being able to make it to dumont for halloween as the trip has been planned for months now. anyway, if anyone has a stock banshee crank case laying around (only the case, i dont need the internals) let me know please with a price. anyway, hope i dont miss out this season as its just started. thanks for listening to my random rambling. Brent
  13. when in doubt, run higher octane fuel and water wetter in the coolant... if you still have heat issues try running an alcohol based fuel (E85) because alcohol burns at a cooler temp than 100% gasoline, just remember to increase your jet sizes due to the lower BTU content of the alcohol... (takes more fuel to make the same power)
  14. banshee vs anything, usually its the banshee, and if the banshee cant be modded enough with a twin motor, just drop in a sled's tripple and keep on winning... give it time and the shee will start to lose its lead on everyone, but it will probabily be the people that think 2strokes are the reason theres smog that end their reign... I'm a banshee guy, but ive owned a YFZ 450 before, and gotta say, the YFZ was a very fun bike, it would turn on a dime, and had enough power to play with, but the banshee just has more for less... take purchase price into account, and for a new YFZ you can get a older banshee and build it up nicely and destroy a YFZ sideways... Ride Fast, Ride Smart
