  1. I know there are a few bicycle riders on here, I'm just spreading the word.

I work as a Mechanic/Sales here in Santa Barbara at Bicycle Bobs and we have a really cool event coming up.

If you are interested in test riding some high end mountain and road bikes, the Trek Demo fleet will be holding a Demo day at Elings Park here in S.B. This is a really cool thing if you like to ride or even just thinking about buying your first bike. You can litereally ride a $5000 Session D.H. bike or Top Fuel XC carbon race bike.

The park is a perfect place for this event. It is about 1/4 mile from the beach with killer views of the S.B. Channel islands and has multiple trails and groomed courses. There is a XC loop with plenty of climbing and technical switchbacks, there is a groomed downhill course (which is awsome) and dual slalom course. Plus plenty of road riding. There are going to be 2 different Carbon fiber road bikes to test out along the waterfront. Bring any of your gear (shoes, pedals, helmet, etc. if you have them, but not necessary).

I will be out there testing every bike I can since I am selling them everyday at the shop, need to get some first hand experience to be able to answer any questions.

Even if you are just looking for something to do to get out of the house, come on up and enjoy the day, have some fun riding some really nice bikes, then cruise down to State St. and have some food and beers. This is all FREE, no need to make a reservation, just bring yourself and be ready to have a blast.

The date is Sunday March 13th 10am-3pm.

Here is a link to the Trek bikes website. I will get a list of all the bikes available to demo in the next day or 2.

  3. Haven't you people heard of sponge baths???????? Geez, No 20 minute hot showers so I'm not going to the Dunes????????

What the heck is society coming too!!

No, were not living in the retirement villa yet! :old: :poke:

  4. I second that. I have no problem with you guys out there keeping us safe. You're only ever going to hear the people who b*tch because they got caught being dumbass's. You hear alot less about the people who appreciate you guys, but I assure you it's the majority.

Thanks again for your service. :beercheers:

  5. Road was great this weekend. We pulled in right when the water truck was making his turn, so we jumped inline behind some mohos and trucks doing about 15, which was fine by me. I was planning on taking it slow anyway. Of course half way down we got passed by captian douchebag in his rig doing 35-40. I just laughed when he caught up to the water truck and jammed on the brakes, then no one let him in line. Thats called teamwork.

  6. What a killer weekend. Made a bunch of new friends in camp. Had a group of 5 guys who made the trip out of Missouri. 24 hours to get to Dumont, with no hauler, just a truck and a flatbed. Those guys have some stories to take home with them for sure.

Went on a bunch of good rides, Dunes started getting torn up saturday afternoon. Rain saturday night made for some rough rides, but still had a good ride on the flats. Had a good 5th gear race though the whoops over to the north pole, I think that was the best ride all weekend.

Got out about 9 am today, got the uhaul trailer back before 3:30, saved $30. It was a good drive home.

  7. We are for sure going. Heading out from Santa Barbara hopefully around 6 am. Rain is looking pretty bad but I'm hoping it will get better as we hit Pearblossom. We are excited as all hell and cant wait to get to the dunes, Rain and all. I'm actually looking forward to some rain, should slow things down and make for a relaxing weekend. Hope to see some DDR peeps out there, I'll be camping with Sincityblondie, So I'm sure I'll see a few in camp. :beercheers:

  8. Wow!!! You are going OFFROADING, what do you expect a flat paved road? That road was nice, the faster I went the smoother it got. We have roads in CA that are 50 times worse then any dirt road I've seen.

There are a few threads on here with stong opinions about the entrance road. We all know Sandawg, He is the half senile old fart that sits on his porch yelling at people to get off his grass, alot like Clint Eastwood in Gran Torino. :director:

    No offense Sandawg. :beercheers:

  9. Hi, I have a DS650 with a Turbo Hayabusa in it. The front end sits really high and I would like to lower it down. i have been looking at getting a shorter shock in order to lower it. Does anyone know if the Fox Floats would be a good shock for this bike? How do they handle the whoops at the bottom of the hills?

My other option would be Marvin Shaws? Does any one have an idea what would work best on my bike?

    Thank for your help!!!

In the bicycle business, Fox is the best suspension out there. In the quad/off roading world, I know Fox and Ohlins are pretty nice. If your duning with a turbo Busa quad, thats a whole nother story.
