  1. Im definately in. I missed last year, first time since I started riding. Sean you and Tami are welcome to camp wherever I do, prob near bathroom 6. Hope to see you guys out there.

We were just talking about it, as long as it's not raining, It looks like were going. Saving money like crazy and getting the itch, cant wait to scratch it.

  2. Made it a whole year here in Santa Barbara, which is not easy considering the cost of living here. Same as SP2, got laid off from the job that moved me here after 5 months but found a better job at Bicycle Bobs, although alot less pay. We can afford rent, food, and beer. Hell, thats all we really need anyways. I dont regret a thing about 2010. :beercheers:

  3. Can you guys that are already out there keep us informed of the conditions today with the new storm. Alot of people going to be leaving on thursday.. :beercheers:

I am gong to be driving a 79 grand torino with a 1 snow tire that i borrowed from my uncle it has 1 primered fender and spinner hubcaps on the front (non snow tire) pulling a 32 foot toy hauler it doesnt have 4wd drive but i got posi.

can i make it? :stirthepot::xmas_grin::beercheers: happy new years everyone cant wait to dune......

Nope, its a FORD. Go get yourself a '78 Chevy LUV mini truck, you will be just fine. :stirthepot: :chevy:

  4. See how people get when they can't get to their sand? This is getting dangerous! laughing.gif

I found a way around this little problem. I brought a bunch of sand over from the beach and spread it all on the floor in the apartment. Then I built a firepit in the middle of the room and and set up folding chairs all around it. Tami says she's leaving if I dont clean it all up, but I'm still on the fence. :dunno:

  5. I just talked to a BLM worker with a tractor and they said the river isn't passable..there is a semi towing a 5th wheele trailer stuck in the middle of the stream. They had it passable but the dam they built broke and blew the river 500 feet wide. It isn't passable and wont be for a while.

IS THIS A REAL POST or are you just messin' with people? 500 feet!?!? :dayum:

So the river is wider than a football field? Kind of hard to believe.

I dont see the problem in these posts. 500 feet is pretty wide, it does sound hard to belive, It doesnt look that wide from the pictures. I dont think anyone was talking crap, just wondering if it was an over-exageration.

I dont know how to do all the dragging peoples comments into my comment! I have never talked "S" on the DDR forum but I am going to do it now! I helped with the letters from the south pole to our troops and have even started an adoptasolider letter program with my company! I tried to get people out to comp for clean up after a holiday weekend party, not just on clean up weekends and noone replied! It was always myself and "Mouthrulz" and a few other friends picking up everyones trash!!!!!!! I personally liked it better when NOONE knew about DD! When you had to crap at S$#$ tree, before the bathrooms, before vendors, before the ranger station and vendors or vendors row. We left Glamis for a reson!!Now I see a friend trying to help with up dates on the river and some smarta$$ has to make comments! FYI "svengoolie" mouthrulez is family and if you have something to say call me directly! I have no problem meetng you anywhere! One more thing , you must have been a bench warmer or you would have know a football field is 360' that would make the river a football field and a half less one endzone and 3.33 yards. Do you want me to break that down for you?

SVENGOOLIE send me a pm! I am working all week but will make arrangements to meet you at DD anytime to teach you math and football!

If you cant pm me, my number is 323-842-3985

    Signed,

One guy over website trash talkers!

This seems pretty harsh to me man. Just my un-biased opinion. :beercheers::DDRrocks:

  6. I agree with ynot...So if I dump my treated black tank that's ok versus dumping my untreated black tank not ok? Dumping is dumping...haul your sh!t home, whether it's trash, turkey oil or a f'd up, wind destroyed easy up and dump it in your front yard if it's that biodegradable!

In that case, I hope your the guy who never spits or pee's in the sand in the middle of a dune run. And I hope your picking up all of your firepit and hauling the ashes out. If your not, then your technically dumping.

Now dumping a black tank is a whole different thing, your talking about dumping a toxic/hazerdous material, especially if comes out of ME after a hard night of drinking some Firestone DBA's. Your waste tanks are a lot different than what you just cooked your thanksgiving turkey in (I hope).

My point is, anything non-organic or hazerdous to humans or animals, take it home and dispose of it properly. All you have done with the fryer oil is give the birds and desert critters a little treat. I'm sure BLM and LEO's can put it under the "dumping" category, and I'm not disputing that. I just dont see the environmental harm in burying a little liquified animal fat that will probably have broken down and dissolved in less than a month.

  7. I’m heeding out to Vegas after X-mas and was thinking of loading up the rhino and stopping at Dumont for a couple of days. I have never been there and was wondering if any one had any advice on a spot to camp, or things to check out? I usually go out to Glamis but have wanted to check out Dumont for some time.

    Thanks

Dumont is definitely worth the trip if you enjoy the dunes. Camping is pretty easy, just remember, the closer you get to the dunes, the softer the sand. The camping area is a big flat area in front of the dunes, just pick your spot and set up. Watch for holes and "kiddie tracks", but they are easy to spot during the day.

Good luck and have fun. Post up a report and let us know how it goes.

  8. could someone explain to me how dumping oil from a turkey fryer is different than dumping used motor oil in the ground in the area where people camp? Just sayin, that I don't see much difference and don't think LEO's would either.

At least fryer oil is organic, and maybe turkeys will grow where is gets poured out. :dunno:

All kidding aside, I dont see how it could hurt anything, except your alignment when you nail one of those holes that the crows dig.

  9. Hey Bob, you need to check out "Steel Panther". That might change your view of todays music industry.

Warning: Very explicit lyrics, not for little ears!
