  1. Thoughts and prayers for your M.I.L's successful surgery and a rapid recovery!
  2. I actually thought of that. Instead I broke down and went to Sunstate and rented a small Bobcat. They treat me real well. Got it until Mnday a.m. and only pay for one day! got half done already, The rest tomorrow and them hours to do things on the rough back 40!
  3. Let's see, the good things in my life in the last year: Son and his wife had our first grandchild, Daughter just told us she is having our second grandchild. At our age we never thought we would be grandparents. Built my shop that I have been saving for, for years. Retired from a construction related business just before the big construction and economic crunch. I don't have any money in the stock market!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I found DDR, that's cool. All in all, I can't complain one single bit. After 40 years dealing with the public, that is extremely unusual for me.
  4. Do you know how many bones I had to bury to get him to dig that damn trench? Seemed like a good idea at the time!!!
  5. Far be it from me to enjoy my weekend even though I am not going either, without extending an invitation to play in the "dirt". Granted it isn't Dumont and it isn't sand. But it is close So feel free to come by and "Play in the Dirt" BYOHB, (bring your own hernia belt). I supply the shovels! No matter what you do this weekend, be sure to enjoy!!!! My time is coming! As you can see, the dumb a$$ put the dirt on the wrong side of the trench so I can't even get something to push the dirt in within the fence.
  6. Haven't missed Turkey Day Weekend in years and don't plan on starting this year. Deep fry up a turkey, group "Pot Lucks" it. Days of "Duning". The Guru of the group has a new Margarita machine, hopes he can bring it!, our Sat. morning Bloddy Mary Fest. Get's no better than that!
  7. NO SOUTH POLE?????? Then.....Where does Santa Live? and Rudolph and the little helpers. that's so mean to say that Comeon........Your description of DDR duners sounds like Mother Teressa and the Flying Nun compared to some I have camped with over the years.
  8. No prob: It's in the rack next to the sky hooks. :argue: Yeppers, looking forward to getting to meet the "bunch" either the weekend before thru the Halloween weekend!
  9. WOW :?: Head east????? That's just "Ducky" Now my 1 1/2 hour drive will take mmmmmmmm, lets see..........25,000 miles. I better get goin!!! :angry2: I get it....it's the DDR newbee initiation Head east and find me the Key to the hydrostatic lock.:argue: And on the way back I'll pick up a left handed monkey wrench All seriousness aside, now with the forecast of rain, I'll just have to wait until Halloween to meet people. Thanks for the input !!!!
  10. Nothing to do with drinking as I read it, but did anyone see the article about the three kids from the same family that got hit by a train at Glamis in their Rhino and met their maker. What a truly sad story and a shame. The item is on the Glamis website.
  11. I was planning on going this weekend for a day trip. I wanted to meet as many of you at the South Pole on Saturday as I could. Then I look at the weather forcast for Shoshone/Dumont and they say 100 degrees. Then today they say the winds are suppose to pick up this weekend in Vegas. I've been on this shop construction since Jan. and really need a get a way before Thanksgiving. I am going for a week plus at the end on Oct to include Haloween. For example, this week I am hand back filling the 100' X 24" deep trench for the wiring. Any doubt I need a break???? Because of the gas prices I planned to take the small trailer with the Rhino and not the toy hauler. No wind protection, no air conditioning. What would you do in my place????? I am serious, I need some direction folks! Some justification for sure????? This seems silly even to me but why not, there are so many wise people on this site. Thanks! Pat
  12. My suggestion would be to turn left after you top the hill that open up to the flats in front of the dunes but before the vendor row sign and where the ranger station sets up. There are a couple of mild washes to the left and past the second one of those only a few hundred yards past the top of the hill I turn left and go a short way to get away from the road. find a level spot and break out the gear and set up. It works for me. Have fun and I'm sure more suggestions will be coming.
  13. Hi and welcome, Our group has always turned left at the ranger station and gone several humdred yards to the east since one of us has a huge truck and trailer and didn't want to get stuck. It worked out for many of us because of the hills and trails behind us that favor trail tires and lots of sand towards the dunes for the sand tire folks. A little rocky but as mentioned a little care until you get out of there doesn't ruin our sand tires. In fact I take both sets of tires for the ATV so I am not limited to where I go. I sssume that by "the end of October" you must mean Haloween weekend. It will be very busy and should be a "HOOT" for your first trip. If the weekend before, the 24th, there will be some hard core folks out there too. Gotta get the season started right!!!!! :rhino:
  14. I have it handeled, thanks to all for the help.
  15. Cool deal, never saw it when I was there. Thanks, Pat
  16. Yeh, I cut the bar going from one side to the other and made the common the one on the left insulated side. Took out the one screwed to the box and used the green ground to the UFER rod and equipment ground.
  17. compressor is only 15 amps and 220 with a 30ammp breaker double pull/
  18. That white wire you see on the left is the GFI circut. The other is 220 out from a double pull breaker with black and white being the hot wires. Pretty sure that is right. Matches up to the red and black coming from the main box.
  19. thanks for the help Sandslayer. I am getting the 1st inspection for the trench and feeder wire and conduit and will hit up the inspector on how he wants me to do the final hook up. "No Fear" doesn't apply to me with electricity. I will be carefull.
  20. Your both right, I am putting up the picture, I had the white on the wring buss. The white you see is the leg from the Ground fault. Thanks for catching it.
  21. Damn double post!!! I'm not sure the PM went so am posting this here too. Here is the new photo with the common in the right place. Is this right so far? Will run red and blk from double pull breaker in main to sub as shown. All power 220 and 110, no breaker in sub. White from white in main to white in sub as shown. 220 2 pull 30 amp for compressor only on right, 20 gfi and 30 on left in sub. Now just to wire the outlets and switch. Verbal should be fine so you don't have to do a drawing, your choice. Thanks again for yur help!!
  22. Private Message on the way with pictures. Thanks again
