  1. Damn, that new shop sure looks complete with that new (to me) rail sitting there. Pictures to follow!
  2. Thanks Randog. Yup, first thing I get is the guage to sync the carbs. My first car was a 1641 Turbo that after a year I bumped to a 1776, the second was a 2-3 Turbo Ford. I will have to learn to work on the VW again. Carbs........shouldn't be too much for an old gear head like me. Directions with lots of pictures are the "ticket" for me. First thing I will do is kit the carbs since it hs been sitting for while. I'll get some pics up as soon as I clean it up and polish it too. I am a clean is quick type. Have a good day and Thanks
  3. I have heard of an 1835 before, but the buggy I just bought is said to have a 1935 motor, Appears that the 79 Karman Ghia had that motor, or maybe it was a 1995, not sure now. I am curious to know if anybody has heard of this engine and seen one in a buggy before. Am thinking the current owner has the #'s wrong. Current owner says that the combo was built by a San Diego Company and he is happy with it. How will it compare to an 1835, probably not to much hop up stuff yet. Same case as others. able to go bigger like 2140 if needed. Cam options and valve train change possibilities etc. Has twin Webers, I assume they are 44's not 48's. Don't pick it up until tomorrow so can't be sure about that. All info appreciated. See ya at the dunes!

    In and out

Just goes to show that great Minds do think alike!
  5. I know some that go all three ways that I know of. Some go thru Tecopa before you get to Pahrump, some actually go thru Pahrump and out to 127 and others go out I-15 to 127. The bigger rigs can have a tight squeeeze the Tecopa way. Myself, from Henderson, go thru Tecopa with a 26ft Toyhauler in 2 hrs to camp! So without committment I offer this non helpful post. :?: Welcome to Vegas. It is typiclal that on your first trip from Vegas that you buy the beverage of choice, for the length of the trip, to all that pass thru the entrance to Dumont.
  6. Thats right, I was asking $500,005,000.00. :Hell of a discount huh? thanks for the heads up!
  7. I know but it's a money thing these days!
  8. It is light, that's why I thought I could survice with an 1835 til I can come up with some bucks to take it bigger. I'm not sure I will even have to do that since I don't need to be the first up the hill any more. Just want to be able to trail ride. Yhat is fun for me.This one should have more travel than the beam ft end I had before. Thanks
  9. He thught it would sell real quick at that price but no one wanted to drive the 50 miles to see it. Thanks it seems like a good deal!
  10. thanks folks, works for me!!!
  11. Couldn't turn it down. Car is like new. Only an 1835 w/ twin webers, but that will work for now. Powder coated, wide body Hi Jumper with A arms and coil overs on all corners. MId engine with good trany. Had to drive to Dolan Springs AZ. this am to see it but was worth the trip. Pick it up Monday. Three trips on the car since new. New padles in rear does need new smoothies in front if I get real anal. New belts and seats and a huge fuel tank. Done the fast car thing for years. so now I'll just "toodle" around the dunes with the Sand Rockets.........JK Bob and Rick!. Got the trailer handled Insta, but thanks for the offer. I'll just make a couple of trips to get all the toys there for the long trips. $4200.00, To me that sounded like a killer deal so I did it!!!
  12. Going to look at a rail today that is what I want and affordable. Novel concept! If the deal goes through, and he won't trade for the Quad I am sure I can sell the quad for what I will pay for the rail. Now I have to figure out how to get the rail and the Rhino to the Dunes. Can you spell ramps on the back of the truck??? So, if by any chance you are looking for a super deal on a quad, keep your eyes on the classifieds. I feel a price drop coming! In fact I lowered it $500.00, see on page two of classifieds, ATV's

    In and out

I used to crave their burgers before they came to Vegas. Every time i made a trip to Cali and back I would stop and get a double double. then they came to Vegas and built the store on Trop and I 15. I worked just down the street and stopped in a few times They were so damn busy the wait was stupid. Then the burgers were made so fast that they were nearly raw in the middle. Maybe it was the road trip that made it so good back then Just not the same anymore!
  14. I sure do!!!!!!Already nearly lost the CB antenna on the truck......DAMn am I stupid!!!!!!Will Check the Clasifieds. Thanks!
  15. Index page says: Husbands "Nuts" I 'Gladhat the "Valley" doesn't hire based on sexual preference.
  16. I have run Buggy Whips for some 30 years. If it had not been for the damn garage door or the door on the toy hauler I would probably have, and use. the first one I ever bought. I keep a spare in my toy hauler now because I am an idiot and I know that I will forget to take it off or lower it berore I go under something lower that the top of the whip!!!!! Yes I know I'm dumber than a box of sand and no one besides me has ever broke a whip the same way!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! If was money I would be rich!!!
  17. I have but one question! When will a politician ever tell us HOW they plan to do WHAT they tell us they will do????? I am tired of the finger pointing, trashing, lies, deception, telemarketer type calls every day during the election season. I see the waste of money on the mailers that could go towards something positive etc,etc,etc...........Never mind I only had one question!
  18. Yup!! A good group for sure. Will do it again soon. Next time the food gets checked out
  19. Sounds good, It'll be a short stop but a stop anyhoo!
  20. Not that far for me, probably drop in for a drink tonight (Oct 8) about 8:30. Never been there and would like to meet some local folks anyway! Do I look for the loud obnoxious drunks or what?????
  21. The only reason I was able to retire was that everything I have is paid for, except my house. I bought it 20 yrs ago and it has raised in value 5 times because I have an acre. A payment of $700 a month is doable. This was a result of my over extending myself some 35 yrs ago when I was drag racing and spending money I didn't have. We tore up our credit cards and lived within our means for many years. I did without sometimes, and when I wanted another toy I had to sell something I didn't want to. It worked. To many peope got used to making the big bucks amd thinking everything would stay the same. Big surprise. I am truley sorry for the people that are suffering, but I would rather be lucky than good. I consider myself lucky and maybe, just maybe, not as stupid as some thought I was.
  22. Couldn't resist: Right before my first jump in 1961 @ Claxton drop zone, Ft Richardson alaska. What is different? no hair, a little heavier and not the stud I used to be, but 35 pounds lighter that 2 years ago. Damn doctors, no sence of humor. :worthless_without_pics:
  23. Thank You W.R. It's been a chore but the end result is more than I expected. A side benefit is that I don't have to stay in the house all day and look at the sign my wife bought. " Retirement, twice as much husband and half as much money"! What is she trying to tell me???
  24. Truth be known, I asked hm to sit for the picture and I thnk he sat on one of those damn rocks that are previlant on my property
