  1. Not that I am an expert on this, but I heard that the hole has to be as small as possible, bottle can't be cold either or it will crack, and set it in hot coals- that works the best from what I have heard from a little guy that usually shows up on my shoulder late at night!

I got my info from a fireman on the rv.net site....who apparently does a bunch of this. I also hear that diesel is better than regular. Since I haven't tried it yet....I've only done the homework...I can't say that I am an expert either. But with what you're saying, I'm thinking the bottle can't heat up too quickly or have a large temperature change in a short span of time otherwise it will break....just like putting a super hot glass in cold water.

  2. we use mickeys bottles when availible... and we get the problem w/ the bottle exploding and not just the cap blowing off..

Some peeps on rv.net laid it out pretty clear.

    1) fill sobe bottle with flammable liquid of your choice....2/3 - 3/4 full. (usually right to the glass ring just below the neck)

    2) drill 1/8" hole in cap.....put cap back on bottle...tight.

    3) place in fire...not too hot or the bottle will explode.

    4) run....stand back and watch the show.

  3. Yeah, it hurt. It broke one of the passenger seat brackets.

I did the same thing my first time at Amargosa....the 3rd time out with the rail. Note to self:DON'T LEAVE YOUR WALLET IN YOUR BACK POCKET.....I had a nice square shaped bruise on my A$$ and cracked the engine case right where it mounts to the top of the tranny!!

It's all good though....I put a tranny strap on and welded some brackets for support.

FYI - I'm not convinced that the aluminum case is stronger than the magnesium....anyone know if it's supposed to be?

  4. If I lived in the heat I'd add solar elect to the house,, and then A/C the garage too, and forget swamp coolers.

I started out with a swamp cooler on the garage...but it didn't work too well with my cabinet shop....so I went with A/C....However the nice thing about the swamper is that I could run that and cool my whole house for the first month or so of summer.

  5. Hey all, new to the site saw this thread and thought I could throw my $.02 in. This was my first time ever at the dunes had lots o fun.

Yeah...I can see that you had fun. That looks like it would hurt coming down.

Not to add insult to injury...but those seatbelts are looking like they've had enough UV.....

just a thought...I know you already have other issues.

  7. yeah the big gay balloon does standout when i was out back in november we rode by and i said to myself man you cant miss those guys with that thing out there. then i run across the ddr site and blam it belonged to them

I was thinkin the same thing....then I found this site and all my questions were answered. I just try and relate my camp to the gay balloon and find it every time....except when it went down in the middle of prez day weekend....then we got lost at night more than once!!

  8. :blury: KENNY, YOU HAVE LOST YOUR MIND!!! "I" AM NOT TRYING TO KEEP UP WITH THE "JONES'" BUT IT SEEM SOME OR "YOU" ARE. :thumb: AND LIKE JJ SAID WHO NEEDS DUAL A/C AT THE DUNES. I GO TO HAVE FUN, NOT COMPETE... THERES ALWAYS SOMEONE WITH MORE $$$$$$ THAN YOU OR I HAVE.

I hear ya there....we try and see who has the biggest smile and had the most fun....now there's a contest. :ninja:

  9. Just curious if anybody watches this show?

A customer of mine does and now we're going to lower his Peterbuilt! Probably bag it so it lays real low!

I've seen one episode and it was pretty epic. I think I seen it on CMT when I was channel surfing. It's amazing what they did to this one guy's truck....it started out pretty disgusting and BLAM one bad a$$ truck was the result. :dolphin:

  10. Let me give you a bit of advice... IF YOU FEEL THE TIRES STARTING TO SLIP.. STOP IMMMMEDIATLEY AND DONT DO ANYTHING UNTIL YOU FIND SOMEONE WITH A TRUCK!!!!

If you get a big b*tch like that burried its gonna be hell to pay to get it unstuck... if you dont dig that deep of a hole when you first try to get going and get a helpfull tug from a truck then all is good.. :D

After getting stuck a bunch of times....that's exactly what I learned. The more they spin, the more you dig!!

  11. Sorry to hear about your trailer, I can't believe these jerk offs. My friends toyhauler got stolen a couple of months ago and has yet to be found. Two years ago my friends LT rail got stolen he put a ad in the newspaper with a 5,000 dollar reward and the ex-wife of the guy who stole it saw the ad and called him. Her kids were at there fathers house over the weekend and when she picked them up on Sunday night her kids were bragging to her that their father got a $50,000 sandrail and she knew he couldn't afford it and luckily she saw the ad in the newspaper and called. She told us right where he lived and we had rounded up some friends and we went and knocked on his door. Sure enough the rail was completely stripped ready for paint. I'm sure the same guy has stolen something since then, he lived off of Nellis and Washington i think. I know he goes to Dumont all the time and he might even be on this site. I believe he owned a moving company named Lindsey Moving. He drove a Red Ford F-150 1998 or so Extra Cab with some fake flames on the front (stickers). I Hope he has learned his lesson, but I doubt it!      :finger::finger:

Sounds just like the guy that stole my son's truck......we got it back by forcing him off the road. He already had all 3 vin numbers changed, but we insisted and the cops found the hidden vin on the frame. We got lucky....but I hate it when someone wants my $hit more than me......
