  1. I wonder if cmyfirepole is comin.. hes got a neat lookin grill.. :D And im bringing my fat stomach and a appetite :D

I'm hoping to be there....I just can't commit until after this weekend. :thumb:

If I do go, you're more than welcome to utilize the grill. :laughoff: ...and I'll end up bringing something on the list too. I just don't want to say "yeah I'm in" and then have to back out......

  2. I saw the guy who stole my friends long travel rail last weekend. If anyone has access to look up license plates his reads TOOTUFF. State of Nevada. I don't want to convict the guy but I can almost assure you he has stolen somebody's toys. What I would do is have a friend who is cop look up the license plate and get an address (he lives off of Nellis and Washington) and drive by his house. He was a theif a couple years back I'm sure he's a theif today. He drives a red Ford F 150 extra cab 1998-2003 body style with yellows flames on the front. If your a member of this site everyone knows what you drive and what your license plate reads, and they especially knows your a theif! :thumb: Forums like this help catch loser's like him, keep the word out. Americas Most Wanted has caught alot of criminals so don't tell me it can't be done, everyone on this forum goes to Dumont and they know what toys have gotten stolen. I hope this theif has changed but I doubt it.

I live in that area....and I hate thieves. :slap: I've been a victim 2 times over :ninja: .......did anyone catch the color on that Manx that was on the trailer? Fktryblack84 (my kid) has lots of off roading teens/young adults that hang in that area too!!!

    :laughoff:

  3. Randog after seeing your car you got me to lookin at these things... Very economically prices and your car can really haul the mail!!! :D

Me and the kid (fktryblack84) were just talking about Randog's ride. That is a serious contender on my list for the next rail, but I still have plenty-o-time to shop.

  4. I have my sandrail Insured through My Statefarm agent. Im not sure who the underwriter is though. My car is covered for $50,000. I and my passengers are insured for bodily injury etc... I have a deductible of $500.00. I pay $1,241.00 per year. Well worth a $100.00 bucks a month as far as Im concerned.

My agent in Vegas told me that I had to have my rail vin'd in order to insure it. Did you have the same problem? Or are those LT high $$$ rails already vin'd?

  5. ya i saw the rail as i was passin by on a saturday scoot in my dads rail and i happend to notice a black rail and tore back and everything i sawy it by bathroom 9 or more than likely 10 by an rv who had the orange thingys up or sometin..once i saw it i was like :( .. well my prayers to go out to the familys

Well that answers my question....shows how much pops listens to his boy!! At least I got half of the details right!!

  6. I thought I saw that rail on the back of a tow truck leaving Dumont Saturday morning when we were on the gravel road????? It was burnt and looked like it did roll several times. It was an old style rail right??

That's what fctryblack84 told me when we were rolling out....I was too busy watching the road. I'll have to call him on it....but with the way he was talking it sounded just like what you described. Anyone get any pictures....it would be a good "scared straight" kind of reminder.

  7. Heat will make the oil dark and start to break down, multi weight oil will break down faster than a single weight.

I just read in hot vw's, if you put a heat shield on the J tube that passes under the heads you can drop the oil temp down 340 to 280. :laughoff:

Thanks for the tip...I have been using multi-weight and will switch over to 30w....

I paid extra for the cooling tin under the heads....I think that's the one you are talking about. I'll have to look closer.

  8. i have a tecmate, synchromate 2 if you want to borrow it. i havn't used it yet but its like new. got it off ebay a while back. was going to use it on my banshee but havn't gotten around to trying it out.

Thanks for the offer....I need to get velocity stacks and plan to purchase a meter that drops into them at the same time. I'll keep it in mind, but at this point I have no idea how to use one.....I have a couple of Weber books though and need to do my homework before screwing around.

  9. Hmmmm.......

    1) Taco and wingnut might be married.....or at least they act like it!! (good times) :dunno:

    2) Following DDR quads through the dunes at night in a standard travel rail is a NO NO!! :laughoff:

    3) A 6 pack rack can be used for a 24 quart cooler!! Impressive, until the cooler aborted.

    4) A flat smoothie WILL get you home from the north pole, if you ride slow and straight. :D

    5) Sobe torches can also be Sobe bombs in disguise!!

    6) Cones multiply when you run them over.....

    7) DDR peeps are hilarious....... :laughoff:

  10. Well, I just got back from a 10 hour emergency room visit. After Pete and Craig left we did one last sunset ride before loading up. My wife was on the quad in front of me and didn't see a 15 foot drop off. She did a pogo on the front end and injured her back, neck and wrist. The xrays and cat scan showed negative on broken bones, so she has major mucsle tears and whiplash. So, morale of the story is look before you leap, this could have been way worse and we feel blessed this is all that happened. Currently she is on some killer stuff for pain(the nurse said it was stronger than morphine). Otherwise it was a great weekend with great people.

Sorry to hear about your wife Joe....I had no idea. I hope she gets better soon.

I had a great time....I almost got the chance to pay the neighbors back!! :laughoff:

  11. We just got back and unloaded in time for the last laps of the race.

I just wanna say that we had one of the best times ever. You folks are a blast, and it was nice to meet everyone...THANKS......:thumbsdown:

fctryblack84 can't stop talking about the rail rides this weekend. Thanks go out to JoeDuner and Randog for taking him out....I just love the look on his face when he talks about it.

We took one last ride this morning and when I was about to do donuts in front of our neighbors camp, to repay the favor (ask JoeDuner), the rail quit...... :( It's probably a good thing....that rail has taken care of me...let's me down then takes me home. Leaves me a little confused like the ladies! I'm pretty sure it's the points or condensor AGAIN....time to buy the electronic ignition.

Can't wait till the next time.....the wife will be there and good times for all!

    Still gotta try the ....

  12. ...I decided to e-mail the Barstow BLM office to voice my concerns. I explained that not only is roping off the dunes and surrounding areas unfair to all of us who pay to use the land, but it also unsafe. I am supprised that nobody has been seriously injured or killed due to this behavior whether it be from impailment on a steel stake or god forbid somebody hitting a child playing in a roped off area of a dune. This was his reply

    "Mr. Devin Peck,

    >

    >Our team has identified this a a problem that must be dealt with and has

    >referred it to the Technical Review Team for a recommended solution. In

    >times past coning off an area was acceptable practice as crowds were small

    >and space was not a factor. Our sport is growing and space at Dumont is

    >now a major consideration for the health and safety of our users. We have

    >identified and are working to put rules in place to resolve this issue and

    >educate those who are doing it. Thank you for your interest in Dumont

    >Dunes and we hope to resolve this issue in the very near future. Please

    >feel free to respond directly to this e-mail address if you have further

    >questions."

    Larry_Blaine@ca.blm.gov

Please feel free to voice your concerns to him. I think we all need to voice our opinions..........we all do afterall pay to use this land.

I emailed him at the beginning of this thread...when it started....and asked what the BLM's position was on roping off the dunes....... I never received a response. But your response is nice to know.
