  1. haha yeah J didn't really take the same line as us in that one.

(btw everyone, the gallery now has a comment feature if any of you guys want to comment on any pics. Makes conversation a little easier for some pics. ;) )

Didn't I read about a broken control arm tab or somethin? Didn't get any pics of that, did ya?

I have a small album of stuff I've broke....my favorite of all my pics! Thinkin of one now where I drove it back to camp on 3 wheels, with the right steer tire in the front seat :headbang1: (first car that is...not the funco)

  2. Well... This is our first thanksgiving in a hospital :(

We didn't get released as planned. They didn't see enough results from the meds, so we are trying a different one. Hoping these meds do what the docs want to see, so we can go home next Monday. It's been good to follow the trip reports, and everyone's kind words. The hospital is hosting a turkey dinner for admitted families, so we are going to head down there in a few.

Thanks again to everyone and have a wonderful thanksging!

    We have good news!!!

The oncology doc came running into the room, out of breath, to tell us its not cancer...difinitively!!!!!

All this after hearing from a cancer specialist Doctor that "it is reasoable to assume this is a malignancy". We had a long, tearful couple of days sitting on that bombshell.

After the good news, We were referred back to an infectious disease specialist, and through a series of tests, they are leaning towards the diagnosis of a "chronic osteomilitis" which is a fancy term for an infection in the bone, which in his case, has been causing him extreme leg pain for about 10 months. They have started a 6 month regiment of antibiotics, which we can do from home through a PICC line, inserted in his arm, with weekly follow ups from an in home nurse. We are supposed to be released from LACH sometime this week, hoping in time for thanksgiving.....and what a THANKSGIVING this will be for us.

We are supposed to get resluts in identifying what type of bacteria were to blame sometime later this week. The Docs are saying it probably all started with a simple nick in his skin, anywhere...mybe even in his mouth...such as biting his cheek or tongue. They are expecting a full recovery with only a small potential for a lasting limp and/or reduced growth in that leg.

this pic shows a "prayer blanket" that some sweet ladies sewn up for him...it sat in the back of the church, where everytime someone read his story and prayed, they would tie a knot in it. These ladies have not yet met him, or us. just another example of the support we've been blessed with for our little man.

I just want to thank you guys once again for your prayers, thoughtfulness, and your concern.

  4. I like the environmentalist nutjob angle; but I was wondering:

Just how much it would cost for fuel to get there. My rig runs me about $300 in diesel for a round trip to D, so wow, you'd have to get in some bitchin runs to justify that trip... :)

  5. ive got a 2 1/2 y.o son and i know what your goin through. sending our prayers for you and the entire fam. my son had a similar pool incident about 6 months ago and i was devastated. i wasnt able to be around for him at the time of the incident. i hope the outcome is great and it doesnt limit his ability to grow and live. best wishes

    Josh

Thanks bro for sharing that...that incident changed our lives forever! Every emotion came out .

How is your boy now? Pm me if you'd like to talk about it...

  6. Hey man,

Inconclusive results from the punch biopsy of the femur. They sent it out again for stained pathology to test for more rare forms. The oncology dr.s just came in the room for a 30 min. Consult . They ordered several mor tests that'll start through the night and some more for the morning, including a bone marrow sample/biopsy. These were a new team of doctors, and they seemed very concerned, which scares us, but trying to stay positive:)

Jacob has already promised to marry 3 of the nurses:) He's enjoying "buggy videos"

Thanks again to everyone! Can't begin to describe this experience, or the kids we've met, and their stories.

  7. We're probably going to be in LA still, but have a good time.

Yah, I grew up here, in whats now called Eastvale, when the majority of my neighbors were still cows...lol.... Not as many flies back then until all these stinkin people moved in :) haha

  8. Wow... I couldnt imagine ... My prayers are sent...I Hope for the best and Pray for a comfort for your son and all his family and friends.. How old if you dontm ind me asking..

    Capt

    He is 4 1/2 now .

What started as leg pain, quickly became a limp, and now is a complete refusal to ambulate.

He is now on dilaudin, toradol, and oxycodon for the pain, and is responding very well to the meds. Last night was the first night of sleep he, or I, have had in close to 6 months, due to his pain.

Kids are awesome, and Yes, they can overcome the impossible. My Jake made a full recoverey after a pool incident, code blue, when he was two, and I'm praying for the same outcome now. He is our miracle!

I'll post an update as soon as we know.

Big thanks for all of the thoughts and prayers from everyone. I'm really looking forward to bringing Jake back to the dunes, hopefully for the 70 regatta, when this is al behind us :)

  9. signing in from LA Childrens Hospital...wasn't sure if I was gonna post up anything; but we are gonna be here for a while.

my 4 yr. old boy has been suffering from leg pain since january. It has progresse to the point that he is no longer walking...we have been battling with our insurance and with doctors, and with radiology departments for the last 10 months. blood work , x rays, CT scans, and 4 MRI's later, we are finally getting to the bottom of it. He was misdiagnosed twice, but they finally found something. He has a tumor in his right femur, and we have been admitted . He had a sample drilled out of the femur today, and we are waiting for a biopsy to detrmine if it is cancerous....he was taking vikadin, but was switched to intraveineous morphine drip.

what sucks more is that our insurance hasfought us the whole way....long story...

we are at a great hospital, though; and we are confident we going to get the best treatment here.

Grandmas are taking turns with our girls, and we are camping here at the hospital, obviously scared about the pending results. My family and I believe prayer works, as I've mentioned before. We have quite a group praying for our little man, but I thought it couldn't hurt to ask for a few more.

  10. I have cb's in the tow vehicles, and a portable (walkie talkie size); but no one I camp with has them, so not really.

Ch 9 is a dedicated emergency channel(nationwide) and ch.19 is a dedicated info channel...the truckers will usually help you out with traffic/ construction/ lane blockage/ bear reports ( :headbang1: ) , as long as you can "talk trucker" and not sound like a kid playin with dad's radio.

The radios come with a 70's stigma, but I've saved myself from more than one speeding ticket with them :driver:

BTW:  are you the same "aseman" I've heard on the radio near fontana

  11. Sucks to be me...I'm on call for work tomorrow, so I'm not going to get there this time. I'm afraid work is going to devastate my dune season...I'll take ya up on the offer next time :beercheers: Can't wait to see the trip report pics!

  12. Andy you can pull up with us if you make it out. We only got to chat for like 3 minutes at the regatta anyways. haha beercheers.gif

Just hit me up if you end up making it out.

Would you be bringing the car?

    right on :beercheers:

I'd drag all the toys up with my 'lil pickup..., if we day trip it. I'd like to get a 2 day weekend, and bring da bus, but still not sure if work will cooperate for even a 1 day~er. I'll let ya know if I'm coming; but I probably won't know until that friday. I know my boy is excited to go; all he can talk about is riding the sand rail in the "buggy sand" :headbang1:

  13. I'm trying to sell the wife on the idea of the OHV safety certificate, for my boy, to get us up there for a day trip. We could stick around for the trick or treating thing, too.

If we can make it, anyone care if we tag along for the day?

  14. That report was definately worth the wait. I figured you had some killer pics coming. Big congrats on 10 years; My wife and I are coming up on our 10 year as well. I figure I gotta go big for that one. I was still a little scared about those stingrays, even if I'm retarded  . Great pics as usual! I especially like the scenery shots, like the waterfalls and those trees that look all crazy. I would dig on the positive attitudes over there as well. Happy with life, despite it's pitfalls...awesome :cocktail:

  15. Just saw ddr has its own employment thread :dope:

My company is looking for a class A driver for a new position with min. 3 yrs exp. , a clean driving record, a tanker endorsement. Tanker and/or end dump experience is a plus. Work has been picking up, and we are consistently turning down jobs due to a lack of manpower. I'm currently running an ad on craigslist, and thought I'd present the opportunity to any DDR peeps that live in the So. Cal area.

If anyone is interested, please send your resume and a current DMV printout directly to my email: andydew@sbcglobal.net

  16. Anna dives and swims with them daily. I just read this to her and she says you were being a retard.

    I kinda figured that :beercheers:

I always figured I gotta laugh at myself before I can laugh at anyone else...so far, It seems like the previous is all I do :P

  17. Like raspadoo said above, if you're into rzr's there is plenty to see. I don't own a buggy, so not much for me to see as far as parts so I can't report on good deals. The area that has shrunk the most is definitely the small business vendors. That parking lot was way empty.

Some good cars to drool over though. That funco is pretty bad-azz, but i still LOVE the lines of the pro-bro and the tatums. Although i'm not a fan of the paint job on the red racer truck, that thing is incredible. I would never need all that in a sand car, but how many of us need half the chit we want anyway?

Good meeting you Neal! I'm gonna have to pick your brain a little so I can finally learn how to use this camera thingy...

Andy, if you went to last year's show, you wont be missing much this year (except that funco).

ynot, that alumicraft was one of those cars that caught my eye around the corner and I had to come over and meet her. Not the average car. Once I spent a few minutes around her, I knew I wanted her... Alas, she's a two seater and I need a four... I'll always remember her as the one who got away... ahem, what were we talking about??

I didn't end up making it there today. Figured I'm short on cash, so why tempt myself with the big ticket stuff I can't afford, even if it is only 40 minutes away. My car is dialed in, and I don't think I NEED anything. That funco looks good, and I love the look of the pro bros, but honestly, I like the gen IV's best anyhow.

Yeah, I kinda wondered if that'd be the case compared to last year. We went last year, and besides a sunburn for me and my lil boy, we didn't really come home with anything except the up n coming heart attack from the turkey legs and fried twinkies

  18. Very cool. Just doing a quick snorkle swim in Hawaii and I got interested in maybe seeing what it would be like to try a scuba dive. Are the classes expensive? Did you buy or rent the gear? Pretty cool non the less now you can share things with Anna and see what she actually does under water.

I did some snorkeling off Maui when we honeymooned there...got a little carried away with it and ended up following a stingray, or maybe a sea ray, out kinda far from shore. Next thing I knew, there were three of them, and I started to panic a little  That was right around the time that australian animal dude (the one that said "KRANKIE")got killed by a stingray. At the time I thought I was swimming for my life, but looking back, I was probably just being a retard :P

    good times for sure!
