I had a pair of 38's on a dodge ram with a 9" lift 10 yrs ago or so...It didn't do so hot. It was a long bed crew cab, though; so probably an issue with a lack of weight on the rear tires. Plenty of hp, just a lack of traction made it spin and chatter.
Probably comparing apples to oranges because of the vehicle differences
. It was my first lifted truck, and I still swear it's the reason my wife fell in love
It would make it up comp @ glamis, but just barely -

I got busy with my addition project on the house, and forgot all about it
Might just head down for a few hours today
Nice pics for sure; those SCU's are looking good, but curious about that Funco as well.

How was the show this year? Anything new or innovative that you just had to have?

gotta get a trip in there someday...looks awesome

great video

My wife and I made a point to go see the memorial as well, when we honeymooned in Maui, and then took a puddle jumper flight over there. Certainly a humbling experience. While we were there, 9 yrs. ago, they premiered a showing of pearl harbor on the beach, the day before we went to the memorial, which made it all the more chilling to take in.
I think you got us all beat riding home on the Reagan...TOO COOL

Killer pics of a killer trip.

I enjoyed following your progress on your first build. I can relate... I'm looking forward to the update pics as you go. Your gonna be proud when she powers over that first dune, I'm sure.
Any timeline going yet...gonna be ready for this season?
Who made the frame originally?
How much travel are you looking for?
I'm thinking you did good on those a-arms...got those left and right arms/heims tucked in nice and close together

Looks great, just make sure you switch that paddle out to the correct side at some point

Yeah, I cleaned this one before I ever installed it. NO way was it over-oiled. The stupid thing went into limp mode just idling before I ever drove it. Everything was sealed up tight, and the MAF looked clean when I pulled it. It must not have liked the flow rate because when I installed a new GM filter, it went right back to normal. I'm generally not a fan of over-paying for factory stuff, but in this case it seems to be worth it. Once my truck is out of warranty, I'll start messing with it a little more.
You guys that are running K&N, is it on an LMM? I had a K&N on my 04 without a problem, but A LOT of people seem to dislike them on this engine...
yup, mine is a LMM; an '09. Stock air tube with K&N replacement.
Never had an issue...yet

I have an edge programmer on it. I know that it sends a clean sensor reading for the DPF that has been removed, but not sure if it does anything for the maf sensor...maybe that's why I'm doing ok with my k&n...
just thinkin out loud, I really don't know. What happens when it goes into limp mode? power loss, warning light? If I know what to look for, I won't have to write a question on this site asking the chevy doc's, revealing how ignorant of a mechanic I am

-
^ I got the k&n in the stock box as well. No problems for a year and a half now. I got a hook up; brand new for $50...it was a no brainer. I'm happy with it

We've made it for the last 3 years now, and it's only about 45 minutes away, so I'm pretty sure we'll be hittin it up.

Bored lookin at for sale threads, I thought I'd put up a couple of pics that I promised, of the progress...or lack there of

I was off to a good start, and then work got busy again, so I haven't made any progress for the last 2 months, but this is where I got.
I know, I know, I have a LOOOOOOOONG way to go
Still contemplating my exhaust setup...Gonna have to take it all over to the shop for some real fab work

A buddy ran a 125 a while back....5 or 6 paddle...not sure, but I remember he tried the 8...no bueno; The 125 doesn't have the power for that much traction. 6 should work fine, just keep the rpm's up there

not for sure, but the beeping smoke det. kinda sounds like it could be from low voltage...

Not sure if it qualifies for being ready for this season; I picked up a motorhome project at an auction. It was an insurance buy back. Squatters got the better of it, and it needs a lot of work. I'm not sure how long it'll take me, but I'm looking at a whole new interior, including all the appliances. I'm not sure if I will still be married by the time I complete it
, but the coach will be nice! It's a diesel pusher, with a 350 hp cummins and a 6 spd. allisson automatic. Power everything. Leather seats. 37 footer. I read a sticker price new at 184k. Of course, I got it for a fraction of that
Only bad thing is, I'm going to have to sell my sweet old bus...no room to park 2 motorhomes.

What was the egt when you were that hot pulling a hill,Assuming you were on tow setting?
Btw..are you going to post water gopro video or what?
EGT's were low, which is what puzzled me...maybe 1150-1300*
I was on the weakest tow setting as well, pulling 6,500-ish lbs. of boat; and feather footing the money pedal to save on fuel...

And heck yah, I'll post it.......just give me about a month to relearn my editing software
I gotta edit/delete all the wakeboard fails

Got me an edge evolution programmer on my duramax a while back. Just got got from my first trip up some hills, in 100* + temps, with the programmer installed. My programmer is flashing water temp. warning starting @ 226*...It got up to 230* once, but I kept backing out of it to maintain no warning.
My question is: where is the red line on the diesel's water temp? I know from experience
that a big rig can stick it's rings @ 220*, but what can these lil' motors handle safely? I also noticed that the engine fan didn't kick on until 228-230*, so I'm wondering if I just need to reset the perameters of the programmer? -
In my experience, the butterball turkeys don't need injections, but some of the off brands end up a little dry without them. I think butterball adds a percentage of brine.
So usually, I just do a dry rub. You can do that, and experiment with your favorite bbq sauce 10 minutes before it's finished...we like sweet baby ray's.
This thread's making me fatter just thinkin about food

glad it turned out

I have an electric unit, which is alot more consistent on the temp, but keeping up with the wood chips makes a diff. for me too. That last 10 degrees always seem to take a while. Several years now, I've done the smoked turkey for turkey day. 14 lbs. or so, and man does it take a while. Usually get up at 4 am. and let it go for around 12 hours...SOOO worth it though :hungry: .

Wow that was a few chunks taken there. How are the shafts are they bent also? Could have been worse.
It certainly could have been worse. We had 6 adults + my son on board when we hit; I immediately flipped on the bildge thinking I'd sunk the whole thing. Nothing pumped out though, so I knew we weren't too bad. In fact, got it on the trailer, and not even a scratch on the hull...just the props got jacked...a few tiny nicks on the skag, shafts look fine; but nothing cracked, nothing dripping oil...very thankful

We try to fill our summers with trips to the water :boat: . Usually hit Mead, Shaver Lake, Lake success, etc. We decided to meet up with some friends last weekend @ the river. We stayed just out of Laughlin.
Saturday, we headed down to Pirates Cove; we were navigating the shallow spots pretty well, until we were awestruck by the nicer homes in one stretch...next thing I knew, my depth finder said 2 ft, I looked down, and
rocks. I slammed it in nuetral, but it was too late. We hit em pretty hard, and jacked up the props....yah, duoprop, so $1600 later, I should be back to normal. My fault...let my guard down for 20 seconds
I snapped of a couple of pics of 1 of the props, on my phone, to share. They're both this bad
We had to get up river...the boat vibrated like a jackhammer, so that was it for the weekend.

You're gonna enjoy it! I never got certified, but some buddies that were, took me for a friends bachelor party 5 yrs ago, and it is still one of the most memorable things I've done. We went off Catalina, in about 30' or so. I never realized how kelp grew...amazing, like a forrest or something. We got some great pics! Saw my first Halibut, besides at the grocery store
. Looks like a little flying carpet creature when it scuried away.
I ought to get certified, it was so much fun! Looks like you've already learned to take the breathing thingy out of your mouth for pictures
, so you're already ahead of me
Thats cool, too, that you guys can enjoy this together.
