maybe i should bring my helmet and go-pro. i can record and make sure they know i'm not an eco-terrorist at the same time.

-
I don't think i will be able to email anything to them till after this meeting. Since I am not sure what the plan is or how it will affect us, yet. I will also want to know info from the guys who know more about what we are looking for so I can make sure to push those objectives in my email.

If you want we could p/u up at Blue Diamond hwy and rainbow on our way out if you want. Looks like I will take Ken, Bert(depending on whatever this beanbag issue is) and you. That's 4 and if we need to squeeze in one more we can or just go with 4. Let me know what time you can be there Rap Rider?
Yeah, sounds good I can do Blue Diamond and Rainbow. I can meet there whenever. I am trying to read through the messages to see for sure on a time. It looks like about maybe 5:30ish you will be through there?

If anyone is going from the Strip west I am looking for a ride share. I am in NLV. I can drive or you can drive. I won't be able to go solo. I can fit 3 + me in my ride.

Wow, I know it can be hard to be on a board. It must be very hard to be on a board where most people are against you.
As I have said before I am willing to support whenever, wherever, and however I can. Because of my work schedule it makes it very hard for me to make many of these meetings. I do plan on the one next week.
The dates in the letter above are off, just to clarify. Friday is the 21st, and Saturday is the 22nd.
Where is the Feild Tour at? I don't work till later on Friday and could make this.
I do think you are fighting an uphill battle, and highly respect your time and efforts. Thank you.
The Ecoterrorists are always going to mobelize and be out there, that's why they keep winning. Its part of the nature of us offroaders VS Treehuggers. At some point the offroad community is going to realize that everything is closed and there isn't anywhere to ride, then what. It's going to be a VERY big hill to climb to get anything back.
It's too bad the meeting isn't after the halloween weekend where you might be able to drum up some more attention and get people there. This may be dumb but what about starting a facebook page for FoDD or something like that for another outlet to get info out. If people "like" the page then when meetings and events come up you can find them there. Forums like this one always have members but generally don't have many active memebers or ones that just come and go. ABSOLUTLEY nothing against this site, forum, or members in anyway. But using FB, emails, whatever to be able to blast out to the OHV community may help, at least a little.
Please let me know if you think I can help you.

I have to agree a little with Eli on some points. Of course I always want to hope for the best, ultimately the offroaders are losing this battle more and more with the treehuggers.
A bill that says one thing, can easily be changed by one judge closing whatever they want. We have to try make it work in our favor still.
I still haven't heard if there is a reason they want to keep OHV out of Dumont. Other then just keeping OHV out of everywhere.
If they keep closing all these areas there will be more people out of work in the OHV field. If nothing else it's a good angle.
50 treehuggers are trying to save the world, 50 offroaders want to get drunk and fight each other. Let's face it offroaders have a bad rap in many areas caused by the bad apples. We also need to try and control these bad apples ourselves, somehow.

Good thinking Terry, It's quite a bit of reading to. I do think that not supporting these people that are against us is important, to a point. I think it at least makes sense whenever possible. Not shopping at the Brown's store and Shoshone Propane in Pahrump, owned by Susan Sorrells is a good start. Many of the people on the Amargosa Conservancy are pretty heavy hitters with Masters Degrees, lawyers, time in Washington, D.C., and ears in many layers of government. We definitely need to be on our game and united.
-
That was a great help to me thanks Terry. Being such a new comer I am not sure what i have to "say" in the meeting itself but can listen, learn, and support the folks that are on our side trying to help.
I am on the HOA board for my community and I feel this gives me such a small idea of what those people on the other side of that table must feel. Their overall feelings will have a huge affect in what and how things happen, along with the laws, which they can always change in time. Going in and acting in a respectful manner will help our position for sure.
Treehuggers or not, i just dont see how us riding the dunes hurts anything. But i guess that comes in with the tank dumping and trash dumping in the areas.
I don't know the area, but stopping the OHVs from getting to and buying from Mr. Brown's store would be a very good thing.

Thanks.
I called Carter Powersports today and they do have the passes but are not selling them with the Sept discount.

That is part of the whole problem with government crap anymore. All these treehuggers have the money and want to save some beetle or whatever. But that being said many offroaders are our worst enemy. The people that party too hard, ride dumb, dump garbage, ride outside of areas, and all the other stuff make us look bad. Just giving the treehuggers more power. I don't know why all the riding areas have to be sutdown, there have been studies of areas where military training has happened and 40 years later there is basically no trace. It's a desert area with rocks and sand. Man these peope piss me off.
Boycotting Dumont would most likely just lead to it being shutdown permanently, sooner. This would take another major riding area away not really leaving much for options. I don't know about the politics and i don't really give a sh*t about whoever this guy is. I am just learning about all the issues in dealing with all this. I am seeing that you are talking about the water/river crossing portion right before the paystation part. They want this shutdown to? I don't get why.
Please don't take anything i say as negative to anyone here. I am really new to all this and just don't know the full story. I am willing to listen and learn asking questions along the way. I am willing to help however I can.

Ok, i see the date now in the thread... sorry for the blonde moment.

Ok, This is stuff that I am interested in checking out. This is THIS wednesday?
I have to admit I don't really know about the Sperry Wash Area so my knowledge isn't very good. I also don't have a Dumont tee, but willing to get one, from.....??

unfortunately there are a lot of DUMB americans and these scammers wouldn't do it if it wasn't worth it. you would think people would learn with all the coverage this stuff gets. These scammers are all over Craigslist, I always laugh with the "No scammers" in listings.
-
Im gettin the itch too. This is next on my list for dumont
Its perfect for filming ariel footage out there. DOnt have to worry about sand in the motor or nuttin
And as shown a gopro fits perfect on the nose heh.
That thing is cool. The second video pointing down was hard to see when turning, and the circles made me dizzy. lol
I have a Gas powered RC car. I took it will me the first time i went but didn't use it. I probly won't take it on any day trips again, but good fun for longer trips. It hauls a$$.

I don't understand the problem, every legit sale needs:
Your social security number, mothers maiden name, any secret passwords/account #'s you have to your bank accounts and most of all, at least 10 signed blank checks..........

i think this is right, it's what i do with everything i sell on Craigslist.
This guy sounds like a scammer, trying HARD to be smooth. obviously doesn't really know english, even current broken English.

I have been breathing since mid February 1975. I am working on the Dumont experience and hoping to keep the medivac away from me.
1) always got the boxer breifs on for comfort and support, I can look at having some depends on hand though
2) I will have to test out 5th and make sure it's working right.
3) I have a nice cooler ready to hold some ice and beer
4) Always keep the Gopro on so i will be able to keep track of things.
It's always good to have bullet points and a plan.

I'll show ya around. I'm always looking for people who love to go go go and ride hard. I know the dunes very well out there and it would be my pleasure to show you around. I don't like the holiday weekend either so hit me up when the duning months begin.

I do like to go, and ride pretty hard. I have a soft spot for jumping to. Not sure if you seen any of my youtube vidz, but i like to test a spot and build up. Love climbing the dunes, and i ride 3rd, 4th gear on the Raptor here and there. What are you riding?
Can't wait to get out there, I need to test the Skat~Traks.
My crew goes out to Dumont twice a month during the season, you can go with us, we are a sandrail crew. one tatum, one SU and a Mosebilt.
We mostly just do day trips unless we go to Glamis, then we go for 3-4 days, at least.
How is it with a Quad following rails? BTW, i don't know what those rails are, but i know there are some SUPER bad a$$ ones out there.

I hate the heat here for sure. Got a bit of a fix in Oregon again this year with two rides during my week there. The dunes, temps and views were great but i miss not being able to go more now.
I have only been to Dumont twice now, and never with someone who knows it. I am hoping for at least one trip a month starting maybe late next month. Need some riding buddies though, and not on busy weekends. I like my space.

I think you will be unhappy with 9 paddles. It takes lot's of HP to turn that extra paddle. I wouldn't go higher than 8's
I couldn't find a lot of information on the difference in the number of paddles so i went half way... lol. I thought my nephews friend had 9 paddles on his stock 2010 YFZ 450 as well, so i was going with that. Guess I figured the 700 would be fine. Maybe i will just have to do some upgrades

The haulers that i have are 8 paddle, so i will test these out. Even with the ITP paddles i really had no issues climbing whatever i wanted, my only complaint with them really was losing air all the freeking time.
Thanks for the info

I found and edited out the same jumps from my helmet cam. the dunes were real hard to see the elevation changes and dips.

My fiance shot some video of me jumping at the Oregon Coast last month. These guys were jumping this spot and my family (most my fiance) wanted me to go to. Guys seemed cool. I was running at top end of 3rd gear. I am the Blue Raptor in front. You can see i went higher than the other guy. i wish she would take video in better spots.
and yes i did see the rail coming.

I swear I posted this already, but it seems to have magically disappeared or I didn't click enter or something. I vote for the first one, it can't my fault....

I got a set of Skat~Trak Haulers with the .125 (blue label?) wheels from craigslist. Not exactly what i wanted but i will test these out with the straight paddle and see what i think. Maybe I will sell the ITP set and this set of Haulers and get the set i really want.
I was looking on rocky mountain and found a set of the Skat~Trak Extremes w/9 paddles (21-12-8), with the .160 wheels (8x8) (too bad they are only polished, i want black). They were $360, and maybe i can get the wheel powder coated. The 20-10-10 tires w /9 paddles and the 10x8 wheels were about $430. I like the idea of the wider tires on the 8" wheel. I am just not sure the difference in performance with 8" vs 10" wheels. I am not worried about the 1" taller tire, the 700 has plenty of power and i can always go one tooth bigger on the rear sprocket later.

I think i am going to be sticking to off weekends or weekdays. I hate having to worry about running into someone, and I feel more relaxed with less people around.
-
Man I would love to tag along. I just got some Craigslist paddles to test out. It looks like the weather might not be so good.
My Fiance and I went up there at the beginning of June and i got WINDY... it was horrible. We towed the bikes up there through zion (where we got engaged that day). We stayed in Kanab then went to the dunes the 2nd day. What a waste of towing the bikes all that way. If it's windy, it will be terrible.

This might turn out to be fun. I am sure I will come up with something to say, hopefully in our favor... lol. I may just sit, listen, and learn.
