  1. Thanks... I am not as concerned with the weight as much as just keeping air in the tire for at least each trip. However, i would go light wheels if buying light tires, might as well right. I don't race anyone or anything really anyway. i just like to cruise and jump. will have to see about getting the wheels black to match the bike.

  2. Thanks, it seemed like the Skat~Traks were worth it but just wanted some support. Sucks i just bought one brand new ITP for the Outlaw.

What wheels are you guys running? I was looking at some bead lock wheels but they are kinda ugly (imo) and they must be heavy. I don't like the STI wheels, the ITPs seem ok. The lip roll on the ITP seem to push sand in the bead though. I know Douglas seem to be popular, not sure what thickness i would get though. ITP also has a different wheel with a double rolled lip.

  3. I got ITP paddles and ITP wheels for the Raptor and ITP Paddles and STI wheels for the Outlaw. I had issues with the Outlaw when I road it more on the right rear tire. My nephew also had an issue when we went to dumont same tire. We had to ride back from past Comp hill to the truck on the flat. I got a brand new ITP paddle for the Outlaw after the flat at Dumont. We just got back from our trip to Oregon. On our first trip to the Dunes the raptor got a right rear flat, took it in to a tire shop for a clean and seal. Trip two for the coast tire was going low, next day it was flat.

I am tired of having flat issues. I was running them at 4psi, but started keeping them to 5. My GF rides the Outlaw mostly now, but when the raptor went flat i rode it. I ride much harder then she does. The tire shop said "if you ride the dunes your going to get the flats." I think that's BS. My nephew has run Skat~Trak for years and they have been fine. He doesn't ride as hard though either.

I am thinking I will try the Skat~Trak next time but what do you run, like, hate?

  4. Nice info... sounds good.

I'm not sure how enforcing a day pass is much harder then a week pass though. Many other places have a day pass like Coral Pink and the Oregon Dunes. I do think these places are smaller so that might be the difference. Either way, i will still come and pay the $30 fee. I am hoping soon to be able to camp. My bachelor party might just be out there in the next year, so I will be camping then for sure.

  5. Thanks for the info.

Its great to hear that the budget is in good shape.

I have only been to Dumont a couple times but the road in having some work sounds good. ---Newby question--- why don't they pave any of it?

The pass change sounds good, but the one main thing i will hope for is a day pass, or something. I don't camp yet, and $30 for one day is pretty steep.

The fencing seems like it might be a little of a waste of money. People will just damage it, and it will require maintanance. hopefully it's well marked so people won't run into it.

  6. Bottom line for me... I HATE the sound of the stock raptor 700. It sounds so tinny, almost 2 stroke-ish. I have an outlaw 525 as well and it sounds good. nice deaper tone. I also think the outlaw has better mid-range power.

I know there isn't much power in the pipes, and so far i LOVE the dual pipes. It's too bad many of the duals don't seem to be legal in DB. I think i was looking at the DMC Duals but it says it's too loud for general dunes. I plan to ride Dumont most, and I will hit Oregon dunes as well. They are picky in Oregon for sure. (don't want to interupt the tree hugging).

Has anyone seen/used the little modified peice for the stock pipes from ebay? It says these make it sound better and opens it up some. I am not really looking for more power right now (maybe better mid-range), and the cost for a full pipe set and tune is a little out of my price right now. Maybe just a decent slip-on is the answer???

    what do you think?

  7. I am planning my trip to Oregon soon, will get a couple days in there. I am hoping to hit Coral Pink, but i am still more of a day tripper, and Coral Pink is too far. It's also still hitting 100*.

I went out the other day and started the bikes on the trailer in the garage. That didn't help.

  8. Sounds like it wasn't too bad. Wind isn't ever very fun though.

I am still planning on being there Monday the 6th. I am sure it will be dead. I haven't been before, so hopefully it's easy to get in and all. Not sure what to expect from the dunes but from youtube it seems pretty Oregon dunes like with some Nellis dunes rock type mixed in.
